When Jiuchen proposed using a frisking technique to verify the maid's account, she bravely agreed. Jing Xiu, knowing his secrets were about to be exposed, admitted to his actions. He confessed to a past grievance with Ling Yue, stemming from Yuandu's tyranny fifty thousand years ago.
He revealed he had helped Ling Yue ascend the throne to serve the Shanling Tribe, but after the great war, he failed to save Lingxi at Dark Capital Mountain, leading Ling Yue to doubt him and strip him of his power. This drove him to empower Zhonghao, intending to use him to kill Ling Yue and avenge his father.
He admitted to tampering with Ling Yue's medicine to induce a deep sleep, planning to reveal the truth to Lingxi later, but Qingyao's intervention disrupted his scheme. Lingxi, now facing the painful truth, suppressed her grief and anger, and asked Jing Xiu if he was also responsible for Huayan’s death. Jing Xiu chillingly admitted, "I was the one who caused her to die."
He blamed Jiuchen for all of Lingxi's suffering, including her separation from her mother, her demonic aura, and Le Bo's death, questioning why she still loved Jiuchen. Lingxi struggled to reconcile the man before her with the "Brother Xiu" she had always known. Jiuchen, tired of listening, ordered Jing Xiu to surrender. Jing Xiu laughed and attacked, fleeing towards the hall door. Kaiyang and his men tried to intercept him, but Jing Xiu escaped with Chibi's help.
Kaiyang reported that Jing Xiu vanished at the border and seemed different from his mortal realm persona. Shisan suggested they never truly knew Jing Xiu, but Lingxi now understood her mother's death. Jing Xiu fled to a desolate land, his heart as cold as the falling snow. Yuan Tong appeared, acknowledging his escape from the God of War and stating that they were both exiles with a common goal. Yuan Tong offered to help him become a demon.
Jing Xiu scornfully rejected her, ordering her to leave. Yuan Tong warned that his hesitation would incite his enemies and questioned if he would watch others find happiness while he remained alone. Lingxi appointed Changting as the new State Preceptor to manage Shanling Tribe's political affairs, while she retreated to Tianxi Palace. The ministers silently disapproved of her infrequent court appearances. Elder Rongying questioned Lingxi's diligence and contrasted Changting's courteousness with his past disrespect towards Jing Xiu.
Changting explained Lingxi was dealing with water monsters and flooding in the mortal realm, using the "leisi", which required a high god's power. Lingxi privately praised Changting and said she was at ease letting him handle affairs. She acknowledged her own laziness and irritation with the ministers. Lingxi revealed her intent to train him as her successor, praising his talent and potential. After Heichi's death, the Hanshan Tribe descended into civil war, which Changting swiftly ended.
Jiuchen heard of Changting’s impressive feat, and wished to meet the new leader of the Hanshan Tribe, but Kaiyang and others stopped him, reminding him of the Shanling Tribe’s rule against intermarriage with outsiders and the Heavenly Emperor's order forbidding Jiuchen from entering the Shanling Realm. To dissuade Jiuchen, Kaiyang and Shisan presented him with food made by Lingxi. Yuan Tong persisted in trying to persuade Jing Xiu.
She presented him with a "demonic seed," the residual energy of Wuzhiqi, a collection of evil thoughts. She claimed it could turn him into the new Demon Lord. When Jing Xiu asked why she didn't use it, she explained that she was unable to wield it. Yuan Tong then revealed her plan to open the gates to the netherworld sealed beneath the Spirit-Binding Abyss, unleashing demons they could command, making an attack on Heavenly Palace trivial.
To earn his trust, she offered to jump into the Spirit-Binding Abyss herself to gather the demon army. She tempted him with power, urging him to abandon heaven and embrace demonhood, to defeat the world and establish a demon realm where their word was law. Jing Xiu finally gave in, acknowledging the need for support, and took the demonic seed.
Yuan Tong secretly entered the Spirit-Binding Abyss and tried to force open the gate to the Demon Realm, causing a surge of demonic aura. Lingxi sensed the anomaly and went to investigate, but was overwhelmed by the aura. Heavenly Supreme Lord appeared, resealed the Abyss, and dispelled the demonic aura from Lingxi. Lingxi did not recognize him but, sensing no malice, accepted his invitation to Heavenly Lord Mountain for healing.
At Heavenly Lord Mountain, Jiuchen arrived to ask Heavenly Supreme Lord for permission to marry Lingxi. Seeing Lingxi, he pulled her to kneel beside him, formally seeking his master’s consent. Jiuchen assured his master that Lingxi would soon step down as State Master, after which he would propose marriage. Seeing their love, Heavenly Supreme Lord agreed, but cautioned them to handle the marriage carefully. As they left Heavenly Lord Mountain, Lingxi confronted Jiuchen for unilaterally deciding their marriage.
Jiuchen reminded her of her promise to marry him once a suitable successor was found and the truth was out. Lingxi, however, was upset that he hadn't asked her first. Back at Fuyun Hall, Jiuchen formally asked Lingxi to marry him. Lingxi agreed, but coyly listed her conditions: he could only like her, never be unfaithful, never change his heart, and never look at another woman. She then said she needed three days to decide.
Jiuchen, impatient, demanded she decide immediately and sealed her lips with a kiss. Thirteen and others interrupted their intimacy, causing Lingxi to hide behind Jiuchen. Siming announced that the Heavenly Emperor had summoned Jiuchen. After Jiuchen left, Thirteen excitedly asked Lingxi if she was getting married. He explained that the Heavenly Emperor had announced their engagement and was preparing the wedding. Everyone in Peach Forest was also delighted.
Qingyao asked if Lingxi didn't want to marry Jiuchen, but Lingxi shook her head. The women celebrated, and Lingxi drank until she was drunk, demanding that Jiuchen carry her. Jiuchen arrived and readily agreed, sweeping his new bride into his arms.
