Ming He brought Shu Jingrong to see Jia Ruo, reminding them that this would be their last meeting. Shu Jingrong, already aware that Jia Ruo had regained his memories, tearfully addressed him as "Elder Brother," while Jia Ruo affectionately called her "Ming Er." He invited her to sit beside him, and discreetly revealed a hidden paper filled with writing.

Shu Jingrong quickly understood its contents and committed them to memory, which detailed instructions on how to close the Watergate and cleanse the Holy Lake. She assured Jia Ruo that Tower Master Xiao would successfully rescue Madam Xue Wen, allowing them to reunite.

Shu Jingrong then directly asked Ming He to consider her as the offering for the upcoming lake ritual, citing her connection to Sand Valley and her role in Hua Lian's death, arguing she was a more suitable sacrifice than Ming Er. However, Ming He refused, determined to make Shu Jingrong the offering, stating that she wanted Shu Jingrong to experience powerlessness, just as Shu Jingrong had witnessed her supposed death at Sand Valley previously.

Jia Ruo intervened, questioning Ming He's persistence and asking how much longer they could both live. Shu Jingrong, in turn, stated that since they started practicing the Xuan Yin Heart Sutra, their lives were already doomed to end. Jia Ruo reassured Shu Jingrong not to be afraid, promising to protect her as he had in their youth.

Shu Jingrong, in turn, asked him not to break his promise, expressing her readiness to sacrifice herself if it meant setting Moon Sect straight. Ming He, lost in thought, lamented their fated separation, believing their end was predestined from the moment they met. The next day, as the attack on Lingjiu Mountain by Snow Tower forces began, Ming He bound Shu Jingrong to a small boat and pushed it to the center of the Holy Lake.

She declared her intention to make Shu Jingrong, the Blood Demon's daughter, and her Blood Rose Sword, a sacrifice to the fallen Moon Sect disciples and a gift to her mother's soul. With a dagger, Ming He stabbed Shu Jingrong in the chest, intending to watch her bleed dry, and defiantly proclaimed that even if Xiao Yiqing entered Moon Palace, everyone he hoped to save would become Moon Sect's sacrifices.

Unbeknownst to Ming He, Shu Jingrong, recalling Jia Ruo's note, already knew that to stop the poisonous lake water, someone would need to dive to the bottom, pull a chain at the Watergate, and secure it to a statue. The antidote to the lake's poison, the core of the Moon God Flower, would also be essential. Upon learning of Snow Tower's assault, Ming He ordered the ritual to continue and left to confront Xiao Yiqing.

Meanwhile, Xiao Yiqing led the Snow Tower disciples into Moon Palace and freed Jia Ruo. Jia Ruo regretfully confessed his failure to rescue Madam Xue Wen the previous day, realizing Ming He's true intention with the lake ritual was to destroy Nanjiang. He warned Xiao Yiqing that the Holy Lake's poisonous water would soon be released into all the rivers, turning the people of Nanjiang into Ming He's puppets.

Jia Ruo instructed Xiao Yiqing to go to the grand hall to turn off the switch, while he went to retrieve the Moon Soul from Ming He. He also informed Xiao Yiqing that Bi Luo and Hong Chen were assisting Shu Jingrong, buying them precious time. Jia Ruo confronted Ming He, who expressed surprise at his escape. Jia Ruo informed her that Snow Tower had already breached Vermillion Palace and controlled most of Moon Palace.

Ming He, however, remained unfazed, reiterating her plan to poison Nanjiang, rendering Snow Tower's efforts futile as none would leave alive. As they fought, Jia Ruo pleaded with Ming He to repent, reminding her that it was not too late to avert the tragedy. Ming He, however, remained resolute, declaring Shu Jingrong would be her first offering.

Shu Jingrong, having cut her restraints with a small knife, joined Bi Luo and Hong Chen in fighting the Moon Sect disciples by the Holy Lake, urging them to act quickly. Xiao Yiqing, searching for his mother Xue Wen, found Hong Lian Prison empty. Ming He, engaged in battle with Jia Ruo, lamented that life, death, love, and hatred had ultimately pulled them apart, like layers of curtains between them.

Despite her injuries, Jia Ruo managed to seize the Moon Soul. Xiao Yiqing demanded to know Xue Wen's whereabouts, and Jia Ruo handed him the Moon Soul, instructing him to use it on the mechanism. Just as Xiao Yiqing prepared to activate the mechanism, Ming He revealed Xue Wen, tightly bound by unbreakable chains made of golden black iron, mocking Xiao Yiqing's long-held desire to save his mother. She asserted that Xue Wen belonged to Moon Sect, alive or dead.

Xiao Yiqing, realizing that activating the mechanism would collapse Moon Palace and kill his mother, was torn. Xue Wen, seeing his dilemma, advised him that true filial piety and righteousness lay in prioritizing the greater good over personal sentiment. She expressed pride in his accomplishments and acknowledged her own responsibility for the hardships he and his father endured. Ming He, however, continued to taunt Xue Wen for her perceived righteousness, questioning Xiao Yiqing's purpose in saving her.

Facing his mother's plea, Xiao Yiqing tearfully activated the mechanism, then knelt to bid farewell to Xue Wen, apologizing for his actions. He intended to kill Ming He, but Jia Ruo intervened, reminding Xiao Yiqing of his promise to leave Ming He to him and urging him to assist Shu Jingrong at the Holy Lake before the collapsing grand hall destroyed the switch.

At the Holy Lake, Shu Jingrong, after defeating the remaining Moon Sect disciples with Hong Chen and Bi Luo, explained that the grand hall's switches were being activated, requiring her to close the Watergate at the lake's bottom. Despite Bi Luo's concerns about the lake's poisonous water, Shu Jingrong insisted, stating her intention to obtain the Moon God Flower core for detoxification, and ordered Bi Luo to retreat with the Snow Tower disciples, while Hong Chen waited for Xiao Yiqing.

Meanwhile, the Moon Palace began to crumble. Jia Ruo confronted Ming He, declaring he would not let her repeat her mistakes. He acknowledged their unexpected end together, but stated he was returning all the love she had given him and wished never to meet her again in any future life. Ming He cried out, questioning his hatred and lamenting that her efforts to save him had led to this.

As a massive boulder fell, Jia Ruo pushed Ming He to safety, sacrificing himself to be crushed underneath. Ming He, already wounded, desperately crawled to him, clutching his hand. Jia Ruo, in his final moments, recalled Ming He's innocent and beautiful appearance when they first met, calling her "Ye Huo." Ming He, tear-stricken, echoed her enduring love for "Qing Lan Ge Ge." They shared a last look, smiling, as the collapsing Moon Palace consumed them.

At the Holy Lake, Hong Chen informed Xiao Yiqing that Shu Jingrong had gone to close the Watergate but had not resurfaced for a while. Despite Hong Chen's warnings about the highly poisonous water and the single Moon God Flower core as the only antidote, Xiao Yiqing, without hesitation, declared he did not care and plunged into the lake. He located the struggling Shu Jingrong, saved her, and successfully closed the Watergate at the bottom of the Holy Lake.
