Xiao Yiqing was enraged upon learning that Gao Mengfei's unauthorized actions led to King Zhen Nan refusing assistance to Snow Tower. He immediately decided to strip Gao Mengfei of his Lord position. Chi Xiaotai protested, arguing that Gao Mengfei had contributed significantly over the years and the incident was not entirely his fault. She also suggested that Xiao Yiqing only cared about Shu Jingrong now.
Gao Mengfei accepted his punishment and stated he would return to Snow Tower to await further command. Xiao Yiqing, however, maintained that the matter would be discussed and a final judgment made upon their return to Snow Tower. Chi Xiaotai pursued Gao Mengfei, who revealed that his actions at King Zhen Nan's Manor were deliberate.
When Chi Xiaotai questioned what good it did for him and Snow Tower, Gao Mengfei explained that while it was bad for Snow Tower, it could be good for him. He stated that without King Zhen Nan's help, attacking Moon Sect was impossible, and with Shu Jingrong still with Ming He, Snow Tower would soon retreat. He then asked Chi Xiaotai what she would do if he became Tower Master one day.
Chi Xiaotai expressed that she didn't want him to harm Snow Tower and that the title didn't matter, as she cared for him as much as she did for Xiao Yiqing. Gao Mengfei promised to handle matters for her and advised her to take care, be careful, and avoid reckless actions or causing scenes in the future. Later, Xiao Yiqing confided in Nan Chu, questioning if his punishment of Gao Mengfei was too harsh.
Nan Chu assured him it was not, revealing he knew Xiao Yiqing had long suspected Gao Mengfei and merely used this opportunity to test him. They both noted that Gao Mengfei seemed well-prepared to accept his demotion. Xiao Yiqing reflected on his decision to recruit Gao Mengfei due to his ambition, which the Vice Lord position no longer satisfied.
He acknowledged that while he was confident in handling any treason, he didn't want to complicate matters for Shu Jingrong, given Gao Mengfei was Mister Bai's disciple. Their aim was to issue a warning to Gao Mengfei while he was still controllable, ensuring he understood Snow Tower's rules. Nan Chu commended Xiao Yiqing's foresight as Xiao Yiqing appeared increasingly unwell.
Both Xiao Yiqing and Nan Chu worried about Gao Mengfei's influence on Chi Xiaotai, fearing his feelings for her might ultimately cause her harm. Meanwhile, Ming He learned from Qinghui that Jia Ruo remained unfound despite efforts. Recognizing Jia Ruo's formidable strength, Ming He ordered an end to the search, believing he would return when ready. Qinghui also reported that Consort Li had poisoned herself in prison, deeply affecting King Zhen Nan despite his previous grudge.
This led King Zhen Nan to decline Snow Tower's request for an alliance, which Ming He saw as favorable news, realizing Consort Li had used her death as a final gamble to jeopardize the alliance. Ming He then ordered a search for Ren Feiyang and instructed Qinghui to notify Qiu Huyu to meet her. She intended to personally deal with Ren Feiyang for betraying Moon Sect and aligning with Snow Tower. Gao Mengfei prepared to return to Luoyang.
Ren Feiyang and Shi Mingyan came to bid him farewell. Ren Feiyang was still burdened by guilt over Consort Li's death, believing she lost her life because of him. Gao Mengfei tried to reassure him, saying Consort Li would have sought revenge regardless, and her fate was sealed. Shi Mingyan noticed Ren Feiyang's gloom and suggested they find a place to eat and lighten his mood, asserting that all past joys and sorrows were behind them.
As they strolled through a bustling market, Shi Mingyan bought a small, dull wooden figure, playfully teasing Ren Feiyang that it resembled him and that he knew nothing of a girl's heart. Their lighthearted conversation turned more serious as Shi Mingyan reiterated that in a dangerous world, one must rely on oneself and not be consumed by guilt. Ren Feiyang then noticed they were being followed by Moon Sect disciples.
Ren Feiyang quickly found a small shop and hid Shi Mingyan in a cupboard, instructing her not to come out, no matter what she saw or heard, because now she had him to rely on. He promised he would be fine and then faced Ming He and her disciples alone. Ming He confronted Ren Feiyang, accusing him of manipulating Xiao Yiqing and tricking Consort Li.
Ren Feiyang defiantly stated he could discern good from bad, despite being new to the pugilistic world. Ming He then ordered Qiu Huyu, as the leader of Storm League, to execute Ren Feiyang for his betrayal. Qiu Huyu hesitated, unable to act. Ming He remarked on his reluctance before Qinghui stepped forward, severely injuring Ren Feiyang. As Ren Feiyang struggled to stand, Ming He pressed Qiu Huyu to deliver the fatal blow to prove his loyalty.
Unable to strike, Qiu Huyu watched as Ren Feiyang took the sword from his hand and impaled himself, stating he would rather die by Qiu Huyu's hand and telling him to live on. Qiu Huyu was overcome with grief, recalling their past camaraderie. Hidden, Shi Mingyan, tearfully heartbroken, remained in the cupboard, recalling Ren Feiyang's last instructions not to come out. Meanwhile, Jia Ruo took Shu Jingrong to a secluded place to treat her poison.
Shu Jingrong questioned his motives, wondering if he saved her for Moon Sect, and why he didn't allow Ming He to control her if it would benefit them against Snow Tower. Jia Ruo explained he couldn't always protect her and feared Gu Guang might seek revenge for Bing Ling if Shu Jingrong returned to Moon Sect while still poisoned. He promised to take her back once her poison was cured and her strength fully recovered.
Shu Jingrong expressed her concern about Ming He's claim that she killed Xue Wen. She intended to verify the truth to prevent internal conflict within Snow Tower, and if it was true, she would settle it with Xiao Yiqing. Jia Ruo, identifying himself as the High Priest of Moon Sect, offered to take full responsibility for Ming He's actions and invited Shu Jingrong to direct her retribution towards him.
Shu Jingrong was moved, observing that Jia Ruo, her Senior Brother, remained unchanged, always willing to shoulder all burdens alone. Jia Ruo then asked Shu Jingrong if she would protect Xiao Yiqing with her life if he were forced to kill him one day. Shu Jingrong affirmed that if either of them were in danger, she would protect them with her life.
Later, during their healing time, Jia Ruo asked Shu Jingrong if she would marry him if he returned safely this time. Back with Snow Tower, Xiao Yiqing received news of Ren Feiyang's death at the hands of Moon Sect and Storm League. Shi Mingyan burst in, demanding an immediate attack on Moon Sect to avenge her aunt and Ren Feiyang, condemning Moon Sect's bloodthirsty ways.
However, Xiao Yiqing ordered all disciples to return to Snow Tower, stating that the plan to attack Moon Sect would be discussed later. He explained that with the loss of King Zhen Nan's support, Shu Jingrong and Gao Mengfei's absence, an immediate attack would be too difficult. He also admitted he had planned to delay the attack after entrusting Shu Jingrong to Jia Ruo, and desired to re-enter Moon Palace for further investigation.
Nan Chu urged him to rest and plan anew. Shi Mingyan was outraged by the retreat, accusing Xiao Yiqing of selfishness and abandoning Ren Feiyang, who had suffered immense guilt and ultimately died for a mission Xiao Yiqing had arranged. Xiao Yiqing acknowledged his fault in Ren Feiyang's mission but stated that hatred alone would not solve anything or bring Ren Feiyang back. He insisted they must learn from the lesson and not rush into attacking Moon Sect.
Shi Mingyan then angrily questioned if he would be so indifferent if it were Shu Jingrong who died, accusing him of bias. Soon after, a secret report from Gao Mengfei reached Ming He, confirming Snow Tower's retreat from Lingjiu Mountain to Luoyang and Xiao Yiqing's extremely weakened state, with few capable men by his side.
Recognizing Gao Mengfei's ambition and anger at his demotion, Ming He decided to capitalize on this "gift" and planned to intercept Xiao Yiqing to prevent his safe return to Snow Tower. Concurrently, Jia Ruo and Shu Jingrong arrived at Snow Tower's former camp, only to find it deserted.
