Shu Jingrong found herself thinking of the mute doctor, recalling his gentle and refined manner. Though she never saw his face, she felt a profound resemblance between him and Xiao Yiqing. She mused that she still did not know his name, but every encounter was destined, making the asking of names unnecessary. She longed for the recovery of her sight to witness a shadow puppetry, believing her lifelong search would not be in vain.

She wondered aloud who he truly was. Meanwhile, Huang Quan, after a fierce battle with Gu Guang to secure niter, lay injured and unconscious. Zi Mo diligently nursed him back to health. When Huang Quan regained consciousness, he felt frustrated about being defeated by Gu Guang, vowing to take his revenge and get even. Zi Mo patiently fed him medicine, and as Huang Quan looked at her, a gentle warmth appeared in his eyes.

She urged him to rest, informing him that the Tower Master had ordered him to recuperate for a few days and that Chi Xiaotai had taken over the remaining affairs. Huang Quan insisted on seeking revenge, but Zi Mo reminded him to wait until he had recovered. Xiao Yiqing brought Jiang Qianmei to meet Xie Lizhou. Upon seeing Jiang Qianmei, Xie Lizhou was momentarily stunned, recognizing his daughter.

Xiao Yiqing informed Xie that the border was in crisis, with the enemy having arrived and war raging, therefore, the Lei family needed to deliver gunpowder a few days earlier. He added that if Xie Lizhou did not try his best regarding the gunpowder, the Xie family might not survive in Luoyang. Xie Lizhou was displeased, questioning if his daughter was threatening him and implying that she wanted him to become Snow Tower’s pawn.

Jiang Qianmei calmly returned her hairpin to her father, reminding him that his daughter, Xie Bingyu, had committed suicide to protect her virtue and was buried away. She stated unequivocally that she, Jiang Qianmei, only worked for the Snow Tower. Just then, Gao Mengfei arrived, apologizing for his delay. Xie Lizhou recognized him as the Crown Prince of King Zhen Nan, but Gao Mengfei corrected him, identifying himself as Gao Mengfei, a gunpowder merchant.

He presented his niter to Xie Lizhou, assuring him that its quality was as good as that from the previous dealer, and that he was there to make a deal with the Lei family. Under Xiao Yiqing's urging, Xie Lizhou went to Lei Zhentian, demanding that he deliver the gunpowder three days in advance due to the urgent war report.

Lei Zhentian protested that business was about trust and even the court couldn't rush him, but Xie Lizhou admonished him, stating that those doing business with the court should be prepared for risks, and emphasized that "no pain, no gain." Lei Zhentian, after his son Lei Chuyun also tried to intervene, pleaded for understanding and promised to comply if he could deliver on time.

Gao Mengfei then offered his fine niter to Lei Zhentian to resolve the urgent situation, but as an exchange, he requested Lei family's secret methods for making gunpowder. Lei Zhentian initially refused, saying the secret methods could not be taught to outsiders. Gao Mengfei countered that with Thunderbolt Hall's condition, protecting the methods wouldn't help.

Xiao Yiqing then stressed that failure to meet the deadline would lead to the extermination of the entire Lei family, urging Lei Zhentian to find a way to both solve the border problem and keep his family safe. Faced with this immense pressure, Lei Zhentian agreed to ask for Snow Tower’s help to deliver the niter, ensuring he could meet the new delivery date. Gao Mengfei expressed disappointment, implying his niter would be wasted.

Shu Jingrong, referred to as Lady Xiao Qing while at Lei Residence, deliberately returned a jade ball to Gao Mengfei. Gao Mengfei understood it contained a secret message for Xiao Yiqing. Xiao Yiqing later received the jade ball and found a hidden note inside, simply stating "Fake." Later, Xiao Yiqing also learned that Lei Zhentian had sent the Lei family's secret gunpowder method.

Xiao Yiqing instructed Zi Mo to verify if it was the real method and also to secretly send some gunpowder to the front line to help ensure the country's safety. Gao Mengfei volunteered to assist with the niter transportation. Xiao Yiqing agreed, instructing Zi Mo to make the arrangements for Mister Gao to assist Chi Xiaotai.

Gao Mengfei explained his motivation to cut off Moon Sect's gunpowder supply, as he felt better about it than taking revenge directly for his master. Meanwhile, Ming He, dressed as Bing Ling, visited Xue Wen, who was confined in Hong Lian Prison. She brought balsam, recalling how Xue Wen used to polish her nails with it when she was little, before her imprisonment.

Ming He empathized with Xue Wen's suffering, explaining how her mother (Hua Lian) had called Xue Wen a traitor for leaving Moon Sect for love and giving birth to Xiao Yiqing. Ming He claimed to be the only one who felt sorry for her, visiting quietly. She offered to help Xue Wen reunite with Xiao Yiqing, but in return, asked for the remaining 30% of the Xuan Yin Heart Sutra, as Xue Wen had only told her 70% so far.

Xue Wen asked if Ming He would still visit her if she revealed the rest. Ming He promised to never forget their promise and assured her that she had made preparations to get her out of prison in a few days. Gao Mengfei, tasked by Xiao Yiqing to assist Chi Xiaotai, arrived on the scene. Chi Xiaotai encountered the seven assassins of Chuihua House, sent by the Tower Master, and initially thought Xiao Yiqing had come.

Instead, she found Gao Mengfei. After three years apart, Chi Xiaotai expressed surprise at his presence. Gao Mengfei asked how she was, but Chi Xiaotai rebuked him for not sending any messages to Snow Tower, causing her and her father to worry about him every day. Gao Mengfei playfully asked which of them worried about him more.

Xiao Yiqing then arrived and confirmed that they should follow the original plan, but he specifically instructed Gao Mengfei to ensure Chi Xiaotai's safety, ensuring she was not harmed at all. Gao Mengfei promised to protect her with all his might. Later, as Ming He, still disguised as Bing Ling, left Hong Lian Prison, she nearly ran into Hua Lian. Terrified, she quickly knelt down.

Hua Lian, mistaking her for Bing Ling, was about to admonish her for going to the prison. Gu Guang unexpectedly appeared and intervened, claiming that he suffered a relapse and had to rest, leaving Bing Ling to carry the burden alone, thus taking the blame. Hua Lian, though still stern about rules, accepted the excuse and left after Gu Guang promised to remember her words. After Hua Lian departed, Gu Guang was shocked to realize it was Ming He.

Ming He revealed that she had been visiting Hong Lian Prison disguised as Bing Ling for years. She warned Gu Guang that if their mother found out, Bing Ling would also be in trouble. When Gu Guang expressed concern about Bing Ling being punished, Ming He brushed it off, telling him to focus on assisting her with the upcoming niter delivery task assigned by their mother.

Chi Xiaotai and Gao Mengfei conversed, with Chi Xiaotai expressing surprise that the second disciple of Bai Di had transformed into the capable merchant, Gao Mengfei. Gao Mengfei then proposed a plan to "steal what they guard," by pretending to be the thieves to fool their enemies and to take the opportunity to kill some Moon Sect followers as revenge for his master's failure to be saved.

Chi Xiaotai, though concerned about the risk, eventually agreed, urging him to be careful. That night, Shu Jingrong, dressed in black, secretly infiltrated Lei Zhentian's study. She discovered a highly dangerous martial arts manual. Just as she was examining it, Lei Zhentian returned. She barely managed to evade him after a brief confrontation and returned to her room. The Lei Residence steward, along with several men, came to search her room.

Shu Jingrong, still in her black infiltration attire, hid under the covers. At that critical moment, a black shadow flashed past the door, drawing the guards away in pursuit, allowing Shu Jingrong to breathe a sigh of relief. The black shadow was, in fact, Xiao Yiqing, who had come to her aid. Lei Zhentian, suspicious that the intruder was Shu Jingrong (Lady Xiao Qing), confronted her.

He tested her by throwing a hidden weapon, but Xiao Yiqing appeared just in time to deflect it, saving Shu Jingrong, who couldn't reveal her martial arts. Lei Zhentian insisted that the intruder must be a highly skilled martial artist with calloused hands. He grabbed Shu Jingrong's hand, only to find callouses solely on her fingertips. Lei Chuyun quickly defended her, explaining that these callouses were from playing the zither, not from practicing martial arts.

Lei Zhentian, though still suspicious, was momentarily silenced without further proof. Shu Jingrong, feeling unjustly accused, offered to leave. Xiao Yiqing stepped in, stating that Gao Mengfei had asked him to look after Lady Xiao Qing and offered to escort her out of the residence.
