They spotted Bro Huo’s group exiting Wang Meng’s home and immediately pursued them. After a high-speed chase, Bro Huo’s vehicle managed to escape. Jiang Yuelou noted that Chen Yuzhi had left discreet markings along their path. They had traveled along Jinhua Road, turned left at the third intersection, and continued along Jingcheng Avenue for some time before the trail ended.
Jiang Yuelou hypothesized that either their target was still in that vicinity, or Chen Yuzhi was no longer able to leave markers for some reason. It was then that Sun Yongren fully comprehended the true depth of Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi’s collaborative deception. Meanwhile, Bro Huo was discussing their operation with another accomplice, mentioning the use of poison in their scheme. Wang Meng, now held captive by Bro Huo's group alongside Chen Yuzhi, overheard their conversation.
He realized with horror that his own mother had been poisoned by Bro Huo and his men. Chu Ran later met Executive Zhan Junbai, who was teaching Chu Min, Chu Ran's half-brother, how to handle and assemble a gun. Chu Ran's family seemed to be trying to set Chu Min up with Zhan Junbai. Zhan Junbai politely excused himself from the awkward interaction. As Chu Ran was also late for work, Zhan Junbai offered her a ride to the police bureau. During the ride, they discussed their different appearances, and Chu Ran clarified that she and Chu Min were half-siblings. She thanked him upon reaching her destination.
