Based on a tip-off, Duan Yu learned that someone resembling Gu Qingqiao had traveled north. Despite the slim chance, he felt compelled to investigate. As they prepared to depart, Miss Du arrived to see Shaoyi, who was also traveling with Duan Yu. Miss Du gave them three amulets from Shangqing Temple, asking them to give one to Gu Qingqiao if they found her, as she felt indebted to her.

Shaoyi, who had been hiding under the carriage for three days to avoid being left behind, managed to convince Duan Yu's companion, Mr. Qi, to let him accompany them, arguing it would be more troublesome to send him back. Meanwhile, Gu Qingqiao and Lu Zizheng journeyed towards Xiling, intending to find the Black Wood Human-shaped Sword.

Gu Qingqiao revealed that the petals on her leg were turning black, indicating her life was in danger if she didn't find the Four Treasures, of which the sword was one. Lu Zizheng vowed to help her, stating her life was extremely important to him because she had saved his. He recounted the sword's history: it was the treasured artifact of the Xiling Sect, granting its founder invincibility, yet its true form had never been seen.

Fifteen years prior, the Sacred Blood Sect had massacred Xiling over the sword, after which it disappeared. Rumors claimed it was destroyed, taken by the Sacred Blood Sect, or still hidden within Xiling. Despite the uncertainty, Gu Qingqiao decided to trust the possibility that it remained in Xiling. Duan Yu's group arrived near a place where the Moon Wolf Tribe conducted transactions involving captives.

Spotting a woman who looked like Gu Qingqiao among the prisoners, they created a disturbance to help the captives escape. Duan Yu pursued the look-alike, and they both fell off a cliff. He discovered she was not Gu Qingqiao but a woman from the Fire Crane Tribe. He managed to pull her up, but he fell further down the cliff himself.

Shaoyi, who was also involved in helping the captives, learned the Fire Crane Tribe's location from the rescued woman, hoping it might lead them to Duan Yu. Gu Qingqiao and Lu Zizheng arrived in Qingshui Town, disguised as a pregnant widow and a fortune teller, respectively. They noticed many people wore white and merchandise promoting "Ruan Siqiong, the greatest martial artist" was everywhere. The Yuelai Inn was hosting Ruan Siqiong.

Curiosity piqued, they decided to join the crowd, sneaking onto a rooftop with two Xiling disciples, Furong and Man Tianxing, for a better view. They witnessed someone impersonating Ruan Siqiong being confronted by Furong. Suddenly, Nangong Wuhen appeared, calling the impostor ugly and attacking. Ruan Siqiong arrived and confronted Nangong Wuhen. When Nangong Wuhen attacked Ruan Siqiong, Gu Qingqiao instinctively shielded him and was struck by Nangong Wuhen's Flame Palm. Nangong Wuhen then fled.

Gu Qingqiao fainted and was taken to the Xiling Sect by Ruan Siqiong for treatment. Waking up in the Xiling Sect, Gu Qingqiao feared she was dying. Furong reassured her that Ruan Shishu had used his Prajna Palm to treat her Flame Palm injury and that she would recover completely in three days, after which she would be allowed to leave.

Gu Qingqiao maintained her disguise as "Xiao Qing" and introduced Lu Zizheng as her "brother," "Xiao Bai," claiming they were seeking family and were disguised to avoid bandits. Recognizing that the injury allowed them legitimate entry into Xiling, Gu Qingqiao and Lu Zizheng saw an opportunity to search for the Black Wood Human-shaped Sword. They agreed to split up to cover more ground.

During her treatment session with Ruan Siqiong, Gu Qingqiao subtly probed whether he remembered her, referencing a past interaction and asking if he wanted to see her throw a discus. She mimicked throwing a discus and shared a story about a doctor who had encouraged her after an arm injury, telling her life was more than just achievements or discus.

Ruan Siqiong inquired about the doctor's whereabouts, and she replied they were now far apart and might not even recognize each other. Ruan Siqiong instructed her to return daily at noon for treatment. During the treatment, he discovered that Gu Qingqiao's body absorbed his internal energy, confirming his suspicion that she was the fated person who could draw the Black Wood Human-shaped Sword. Gu Qingqiao attempted to gather information about the sword from Furong and other disciples.

However, they became fearful and strictly warned her never to mention the Black Wood Human-shaped Sword in Xiling again, explaining it had brought a great disaster 15 years ago and had vanished. Undeterred, Gu Qingqiao and Lu Zizheng snuck out at night to search. Lu Zizheng presented a collection of swords he found, but Gu Qingqiao immediately recognized them as worthless. They concluded that only Master Wang's Tianshan Residence and Ruan Siqiong's Dome remained to be searched.

They decided Gu Qingqiao would try to search the Dome during her treatment sessions, while Lu Zizheng would attempt to search Tianshan Residence that night. Lu Zizheng proceeded to Tianshan Residence to search but was caught by a guard named Bao. Master Wang arrived. Lu Zizheng tried to explain he was only there out of concern for his sister, which led him to trespass.

However, a Senior Disciple countered his story, accusing him of being a thief who had been scouting the area at night. The Senior Disciple also reported that many weapons were missing from the armory and blamed Lu Zizheng. Lu Zizheng vehemently denied the accusations, pointing out the lack of evidence and questioning why, if he were a thief, he would steal only inexpensive items instead of valuable ones.
