Gu Qingqiao skillfully used a rock to saw through her ropes and then helped Shaoyi free himself. While planning their escape, they were interrupted by Mantra Sect members who demanded to know how Gu Qingqiao contacted their Right Guardian and where he had hidden a sacred object. Gu Qingqiao claimed she had no contact with the Right Guardian and didn't know the sacred object's location.
She offered to help them find it if they released her and Shaoyi, but her offer was refused. Gu Qingqiao observed that there were six guards in total but only five were visible inside their current location. She deduced there must be another exit, likely guarded by only one person, and proposed they risk attempting to escape through it.
She deliberately provoked one guard and, when he approached, quickly knocked him out with a precise strike, repeating the technique on another guard. During the escape attempt, Shaoyi injured his leg, making it difficult to run. Gu Qingqiao had to carry him on her back as they fled, but the pursuing Mantra Sect members quickly gained on them.
Meanwhile, Mr. Qi returned to the Duan family residence, injured, and reported that Sacred Blood Sect disciples had reappeared, possessing greater power than before, likely due to a Blood Technique. Duan Yan, the master of the Duan family, was informed that the Star of Rebellion had also emerged. Duan Yan questioned Xing Si about Gu Qingqiao's background.
Xing Si explained that Gu Qingqiao was the daughter of the Qingfeng Restaurant owner and someone Duan Yu cared for deeply, having shared many experiences with him, including solving a grain shortage, and that they had developed genuine feelings for each other. Duan Yan dismissed this as ridiculous, stating that Duan Yu's marriage must be to Magistrate Du's daughter. He added that Yang Chunfeng had accused Gu Qingqiao of colluding with the Mantra Sect to kidnap Shaoyi.
Suspecting Gu Qingqiao was connected to the Sacred Blood Sect and had orchestrated a grand scheme targeting the Duan family, Duan Yan ordered the Wuyi Guards to surround the Gu residence and bring Gu Qingqiao to him alive to expose her. Having learned where Gu Qingqiao was being held, the Right Guardian, Lu Zizheng, rushed to the cave where the Mantra Sect had taken her. He eliminated the guards and rescued Gu Qingqiao.
He immediately demanded the Nine-turn melodious bell back, explaining that keeping it would put her in grave danger if its existence became known. Gu Qingqiao revealed that she had given the bell to Duan Yu. As Mantra Sect reinforcements were signaled, Lu Zizheng, despite his anger, urged her to leave with him to warn the Duan family. Gu Qingqiao refused, insisting on finding Duan Yu who was nearby, believing he was there to save her.
Lu Zizheng called her foolish, telling her Duan Yu was likely there to "capture" her and that her infatuation would be her downfall. He offered to leave without the bell for the moment if she would just escape with him, but she steadfastly refused, declaring she had promised Duan Yu they would face everything together, even death. Frustrated by her stubbornness, Lu Zizheng left to confront Duan Yu himself. Lu Zizheng found Duan Yu and demanded the Nine-turn melodious bell.
He revealed they were old acquaintances and challenged Duan Yu, accusing him of deceiving Gu Qingqiao to obtain the bell and claiming Duan Yu intended to harm her. Duan Yu denied the accusations but demanded Gu Qingqiao back. They began to fight. Lu Zizheng used an illusion technique that disoriented Duan Yu. Gu Qingqiao appeared on the scene during their confrontation. Duan Yu seemingly aimed a shot, but it struck Gu Qingqiao instead.
Lu Zizheng instantly broke his illusion to protect her, furious that Duan Yu would harm her. As Lu Zizheng fought Duan Yu, he found himself overwhelmed. Suddenly, Duan Yan appeared, identifying Gu Qingqiao as the Star of Rebellion and attempting to kill her. Faced with this new threat and unable to defeat both Duan Yu and Duan Yan, Lu Zizheng was forced to abandon Gu Qingqiao and make his escape.
Gu Qingqiao was initially relieved to see Duan Yu, but her relief turned to shock and confusion when he immediately turned on her, holding a sword to her throat. Duan Yu identified her as the Star of Rebellion and an accomplice to the Duan family's enemies. Despite her protests and questions, Duan Yu coldly stated that everything he had done previously was a calculated plan to test and stabilize her and discover if she was the Star of Rebellion.
Heartbroken, Gu Qingqiao refused to believe his words, reminding him of their professed feelings and plans for marriage. Duan Yu insisted their union was impossible due to her identity. At this moment, Magistrate Du arrived with his men, declaring that Gu Qingqiao was the kidnapper of his son and had colluded with the Mantra Sect.
Despite Duan Yu initially claiming the Duan family would handle her, Magistrate Du asserted his authority, stating she had committed numerous wrongdoings and must be taken to the official prison for thorough questioning. Gu Qingqiao was then apprehended and taken away by the Magistrate's guards. After Gu Qingqiao was taken, Xing Si found Duan Yu and confirmed that she was in the Magistrate's prison.
He noted that this was a fortunate outcome compared to her falling into Duan Yan's hands, especially now that her identity as the Star of Rebellion was known. Duan Yu confessed that he had orchestrated the Magistrate's intervention precisely to protect Gu Qingqiao from Duan Yan, regretting that his plan wasn't perfect and that his brother had intervened personally. He briefly considered if letting the Right Guardian take her would have been better, but dismissed it due to a prophecy.
He acknowledged the difficulty of rescuing her from the combined forces of the government and his family. Xing Si observed that Duan Yu's actions must have deeply hurt Gu Qingqiao, to which Duan Yu responded that her heartbreak was necessary to sever her ties to him, protecting her from further implication and giving him a better chance to save her, despite her innocence. He hoped she would understand someday, though he was uncertain if that day would come.
Meanwhile, Mr. Qi presented Duan Yan with a pattern found on Gu Qingqiao, confirming it was the symbol of the Star of Rebellion from the Divine Palace prophecy. Duan Yan reflected on his past fears about this prophecy and the Sacred Blood Sect, viewing Gu Qingqiao's capture and the locating of the sect's trail as a sign of heavenly aid for the Duan family.
He stated their priority was to understand the Star of Rebellion's purpose and eradicate the Sacred Blood Sect, noting the inconvenience of Gu Qingqiao being held in the Magistrate's prison. Crucially, she recounted hearing that Duan Yu himself had captured Gu Qingqiao, reportedly holding a sword to her throat. Ruoyun was visibly shocked by this news.
