Hello Mr. Gu Episode 22 Recap
> Hello Mr. Gu Recap
Zhou Jianqing was feeling dispirited about the difficulty of finding a job when her friend Zhang Yin called, mentioning a promising work opportunity. It involved creating commercial illustrations for Ceyue Cartoon, and excitingly, the project would feature characters drawn by Miyamoto, giving Zhou Jianqing a chance to meet her idol in person. Zhou Jianqing was ecstatic and immediately rushed to the meeting.
At Ceyue Cartoon, both Zhou Jianqing and Zhang Yin were deemed highly capable, and the project was confidently entrusted to them, marking a very smooth start to their collaboration. As Zhou Jianqing was still at Ceyue Cartoon, Gu Nanzhou called, offering to pick her up. However, with Zhang Yin present, Zhou Jianqing felt awkward and vaguely told Gu Nanzhou to wait for her in the parking lot before quickly hanging up.
Zhang Yin, having overheard, questioned her reluctance and bluntly remarked that Gu Nanzhou seemed like a control freak. Unable to fully explain, Zhou Jianqing quickly excused herself and ran to the parking lot. She arrived breathless, having run all the way, to which Gu Nanzhou made a playful comment about her needing oxygen.
In the car, Zhou Jianqing cautiously informed him about accepting the Ceyue Cartoon job with Zhang Yin, and her immense excitement about potentially meeting Miyamoto, an idol she had admired since junior high. Seeing her genuine enthusiasm, Gu Nanzhou did not object, simply telling her to do the job well. That evening, Zhou Jianqing was engrossed in her work, even brushing aside Gu Nanzhou’s offer to get her supper.
Feeling troubled, Gu Nanzhou discreetly sought relationship advice from Jiang Xiaochuan, framing his predicament as a "friend's" problem. He explained that his "friend's" new girlfriend had a persistent male admirer who kept appearing, and despite the "friend" wanting to give her space, he couldn't help but worry, especially since they had to interact for work, shared similar interests, and she was known to be attracted to his type.
Jiang Xiaochuan advised Gu Nanzhou not to overcomplicate things and to take initiative. Meanwhile, Zhou Jianqing and Zhang Yin finally met Miyamoto. Zhou Jianqing was so star-struck that she stammered, but Miyamoto kindly invited them both to dinner. Gu Nanzhou, who had prepared a lavish dinner for her at home, was visibly disappointed when she messaged to say she would be back late.
At the end of the dinner, Miyamoto presented Zhou Jianqing with a small portrait and asked Zhang Yin to ensure she got home safely. Zhou Jianqing was overjoyed, feeling like the entire night was a dream. Later that night, Gu Nanzhou observed from his apartment as Zhang Yin walked Zhou Jianqing home. He watched intently as Zhang Yin gently touched her hair to remove something, growing increasingly agitated.
Once Zhou Jianqing entered the apartment, she excitedly showed Gu Nanzhou Miyamoto's autograph and portrait. Gu Nanzhou, however, was preoccupied with her returning home with Zhang Yin. Zhou Jianqing explained they were just good friends, or "buddies," but Gu Nanzhou retorted that only she saw him that way. She defended their long-standing friendship, but Gu Nanzhou brought up Zhang Yin touching her hair. Losing his patience, he declared he would forbid her from seeing Zhang Yin.
Enraged, Zhou Jianqing accused him of being unreasonable, revealing she had been so cautious that Zhang Yin himself called him a "control freak." This angered Gu Nanzhou, who lamented preparing dinner for her, only for her to eat with another man. He reminded her she had a boyfriend, and she retorted that she was his girlfriend, not his personal property. During the heated argument, Gu Nanzhou accidentally spilled red wine on her portrait.
Zhou Jianqing was devastated, stating that both the portrait and Zhang Yin were important to her and she wouldn't abandon her friends for a relationship. Overwhelmed, Zhou Jianqing declared she was leaving. Gu Nanzhou tried to stop her by dismissively calling it a "small matter," but this only confirmed for Zhou Jianqing that he didn't consider her feelings, and she walked out.
She ended up at Su Youxia’s apartment, interrupting a cozy moment between Su Youxia and Zhou Zixuan, who was making tiramisu. Su Youxia quickly persuaded Zhou Zixuan to hide. Once inside, Zhou Jianqing began speculating about Su Youxia’s hidden boyfriend, advising her to find someone the "exact opposite of my brother," leaving the hidden Zhou Zixuan speechless. Zhou Jianqing then launched into a tirade about Gu Nanzhou, calling him "petty."
She surprisingly confessed that "she" was the one who had initiated their relationship to save face. This revelation caused Zhou Zixuan to accidentally kick a table from his hiding spot, startling everyone. Meanwhile, Gu Nanzhou was home alone, worriedly typing and deleting messages to Zhou Jianqing. The next day, Jiang Xiaochuan approached a distressed Gu Nanzhou. Realizing what had happened, Jiang Xiaochuan pointed out the severity of Gu Nanzhou's actions—suspecting her without evidence and ruining her idol's autograph—deeming it "intolerable."
Gu Nanzhou, still dismissive, said he could just get her another one. Jiang Xiaochuan warned that she might not come back if he just waited for her to calm down, and advised him to show sincerity with a proper apology, suggesting chocolate as a romantic gift. Gu Nanzhou considered the advice but worried about choosing a flavor she might not like or appearing overbearing. He decided to let her choose herself and sent her a voucher for chocolate.
Zhou Jianqing, still working with Zhang Yin, received the voucher. Far from being pleased, she felt insulted. She remarked that he didn't even apologize, just sent a voucher, questioning if she was "not even worth his effort of choosing a chocolate" for her.
