Hello Mr. Gu Episode 17 Recap
> Hello Mr. Gu Recap
While Gu Nanzhou is recovering from the injuries he sustained protecting Zhou Jianqing, he surprises her by ordering her favorite food. Though he acts aloof and insists she drink milk with her spicy meal, Zhou Jianqing is touched by his hidden thoughtfulness, especially when she notices he added sugar to it.
A doctor confirms Gu Nanzhou has a mild concussion, a slightly dislocated arm, and other minor wounds, advising him to rest for half a month and stick to a plain diet. Despite Gu Nanzhou's assurances that he is fine, Zhou Jianqing remains deeply worried. After the doctor leaves, Zhou Jianqing learns that the assailant was Lady Black Cat's mother, who acted out of a tragic misconception.
The mother believed that online rumors of Zhou Jianqing plagiarizing her daughter's work had caused her daughter's emotional instability, worsening her condition and leading to her recent passing. Despite the danger she faced, Zhou Jianqing pleads with Gu Nanzhou to not press charges against the grieving mother. She acknowledges that Gu Nanzhou's injuries are her fault and promises to repay him for the medical fees, lost work time, and emotional distress.
Just then, Jiang Jingxuan arrives, expressing exaggerated concern for Gu Nanzhou. She takes on the role of hostess, attempting to cut fruit for him, but a territorial Zhou Jianqing insists on doing it herself, leading to a minor scuffle over the fruit knife. Exasperated, Gu Nanzhou declares he no longer wants any fruit. Zhou Jianqing retreats to her room but, realizing her status as his nominal fiancée, decides she shouldn't hide.
However, upon returning, she witnesses Jiang Jingxuan intimately feeding Gu Nanzhou a piece of apple, which fuels her frustration. Jiang Jingxuan then takes her leave, urging Gu Nanzhou to rest well. Later, a call from Zhang Yin reminds Zhou Jianqing of their drawing session, so she invites him over.
Shortly after Jiang Jingxuan departs, Jiang Xiaochuan arrives with crucial information: the scriptwriter for "365 Days of a Terminally Ill Girl" was unnamed, lacked an official contract with DiffuseStar, and was paid via a private account, making it difficult to prove plagiarism. Meanwhile, Gu Nanzhou grows irritated by the noise from Zhou Jianqing and Zhang Yin's animated discussion.
He sharply tells them to be quiet, and when Zhou Jianqing suggests they move to the garden, he quickly forbids it, claiming he needs their assistance with water and medicine as an excuse to keep her close. While feigning sleep, Gu Nanzhou is informed by Jiang Xiaochuan that the scriptwriter is refusing to testify. Gu Nanzhou instructs Jiang Xiaochuan to arrange a meeting.
Claiming to be hungry, Gu Nanzhou sends Zhou Jianqing and Zhang Yin out to buy food, seizing the opportunity to meet the scriptwriter. He confronts her about plagiarizing "Go, Black Cat!" , and the distressed writer explains that DiffuseStar had exploited her, forcing her to plagiarize out of desperation to cover rent and medical bills. Gu Nanzhou expresses understanding but firmly states that personal hardships do not excuse harming others, urging her to take responsibility.
Back at the house, Zhou Jianqing and Zhang Yin return to find Gu Nanzhou gone. He calls soon after, promising good news. Zhang Yin then shares his own good news: his competition entry has been nominated. He tells Zhou Jianqing how important she is to him, and as he attempts to confess his feelings, Gu Nanzhou returns. Possessively, Gu Nanzhou warns Zhang Yin to keep his hands off "my fiancée."
Zhang Yin retorts that Gu Nanzhou doesn't understand Zhou Jianqing's needs, treating her as property rather than with care. Zhou Jianqing quickly intervenes, sending Zhang Yin away before apologizing to Gu Nanzhou and promising their secret is safe. Gu Nanzhou asks if she truly hates him, and she earnestly denies it, expressing immense gratitude for his help. Relieved, he adds a new clause to their agreement: she is forbidden from being alone with any man.
Zhou Jianqing protests the harsh rule, but he admits his sole intention is to keep her away from Zhang Yin, then feigns sleep. Later, Zhou Jianqing watches the scriptwriter's public apology, in which she credits "Little Water Celery's friend" for inspiring her to confess. Realizing Gu Nanzhou cleared her name, she brings him fruit and thanks him sincerely, telling him that meeting him was her greatest stroke of luck.
Gu Nanzhou playfully corners her, asking how she will repay him and if she was upset by Jiang Jingxuan's visit. She denies it, and as he leans in, she deftly slips away. The next morning, Gu Nanzhou continues to play up his injury, ordering Zhou Jianqing to massage him and fetch water. Her compliance is interrupted by a call from Zhang Yin to confirm their one o'clock meeting.
Gu Nanzhou's demeanor instantly changes, and he begins to feign severe discomfort, claiming dizziness, hand pain, and a stomach ache. Zhou Jianqing sees through his act and tells him to stop pretending. As Zhang Yin calls back, Zhou Jianqing tells him she might not be able to make it. To seal his performance, Gu Nanzhou dramatically tumbles from the sofa, eliciting a shocked cry from Zhou Jianqing, who rushes to his side.
