Screenwriter Liu Xiang has a relatively flexible daily schedule. He takes care of his son Guo Ning and daughter Guo Bao's education and companionship at home, while his wife Dai Jing chooses to work in a well-paying company in another city. With the implementation of the "double reduction" policy, their original plans and arrangements are inevitably adjusted. The couple faces differences in their understanding and interpretation of the policy. In the parents' group, Liu Xueguang, the helpful old father, suggests that homework load should not be reduced, and some parents question the relationship between academic performance and exam results. Influenced by these opinions, Dai Jing gives up her high-paying job in another city and returns to be with her family to accompany the children in their growth.
After a series of events, they come to realize that education should focus on the comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor. The family of four finds joy in the process of learning and collectively experiences the benefits of the "double reduction" policy while growing together.
