Ye Feimo confronted Han Hui, questioning why she specifically requested Wen Xiaonuan for "Twin Flowers". Han Hui claimed it was a wonderful opportunity for a newcomer like Wen Xiaonuan, suggesting Ye Feimo, as her boss, should be grateful for the publicity it would bring Anning. However, Ye Feimo pointed out that Anning and Yaohua were commercial competitors and pressed her for her true motives.
Han Hui explained that "Twin Flowers" depicted an emotional showdown between a lookalike substitute and the person she replaces, and since everyone remarked on Wen Xiaonuan's resemblance to her, she deemed Wen Xiaonuan perfect for the role. Ye Feimo declared that Wen Xiaonuan would not take the part, but Han Hui retorted that Wen Xiaonuan desired independence and was not under his complete control. She then provocatively suggested that Wen Xiaonuan's love for her role surpassed her love for him.
Ye Feimo sharply dismissed her words, stating she had no right to speak of love in front of him. Meanwhile, Wang Jiayi confided in Wen Xiaonuan that she had recently seen her ex-boyfriend, who had chosen a family-arranged marriage and was now living a happy life with a lovely daughter. Wen Xiaonuan was indignant on Wang Jiayi’s behalf, but Wang Jiayi felt that his departure had been the right choice, realizing they were from different worlds.
When Wen Xiaonuan asked if this was why she broke up with Gu Yunzhou, Wang Jiayi explained that while Gu Yunzhou was different, she felt burdened by his sacrifices, such as giving up rock climbing for her. Citing their lack of shared hobbies, childhood memories, and pressure from Gu Yunzhou's mother, she believed Zhao Di was a more suitable match.
Wang Jiayi expressed her desire to set Gu Yunzhou free, believing that even the deepest love fades and he would eventually understand her decision. Wen Xiaonuan, in turn, shared her own distress over Ye Feimo's opposition to her starring in "Twin Flowers", wondering if he lacked trust in her, himself, or had not moved past his relationship with Han Hui.
Zhou Xiaojing later reassured Wen Xiaonuan that Ye Feimo's resistance stemmed from concern and fear she would get hurt, not from lingering feelings for Han Hui. Bolstered by this and her own ambition, Wen Xiaonuan articulated to Ye Feimo her desire to pursue her passion, grow as an individual, and one day stand beside him as an equal.
Subsequently, Ye Feimo agreed to let her star in the film, on the condition that he would arrange for bodyguards to protect her at all times. Still concerned, Zhou Xiaojing spoke with Li Can, the director, who, as a professional focused on good scripts, promised to personally intervene if any issues arose, convincing her to entrust Wen Xiaonuan to his care.
Separately, Jiang Ling’er furiously confronted Jiang Fang, the film's producer, accusing him of using the movie to rekindle a flame with Wen Xiaonuan. During their argument, Jiang Fang fell down a flight of stairs while trying to stop her from falling and was knocked unconscious. At the movie's launch press conference, Han Hui arrived alone, while Wen Xiaonuan's arrival with bodyguards drew gossip about her being arrogant for a newcomer.
The bodyguards, ignoring Wen Xiaonuan's request to leave, insisted on following Ye Feimo's orders, reminding her of a past injury involving Han Hui. During the first day of shooting, one of the overzealous bodyguards disrupted the scene by rushing onto the set to pick up a piece of paper, fueling the crew's perception that Wen Xiaonuan was being difficult. Meanwhile, at the hospital, doctors confirmed Jiang Fang had only a minor concussion.
Overcome with guilt, Jiang Ling’er left before he woke up. After filming, Wen Xiaonuan asked Ye Feimo to withdraw the bodyguards, explaining how awkward they made her feel, but he refused, citing a past incident where she was almost hit by falling equipment. Elsewhere, a heartbroken Gu Yunzhou endured Ye Feimo's cheerful search for a proposal ring.
Not knowing why Wang Jiayi left him, Gu Yunzhou vented his frustration at Ye Feimo's insensitivity and begged him to have Wen Xiaonuan find out the reason, but Ye Feimo was too preoccupied with his proposal plans to pay his friend any mind. On set, Han Hui's manipulations continued. Under the guise of coaching Wen Xiaonuan, she grabbed her, prompting the bodyguards to instinctively react and twist Han Hui’s wrist. The interruption annoyed the director and crew.
When Ye Feimo visited the set, Wen Xiaonuan defended Han Hui and again pleaded for the bodyguards to be removed, asserting she could protect herself. Ye Feimo finally relented. Back home, while helping her rehearse lines, Ye Feimo playfully used a soda can tab to measure Wen Xiaonuan's ring finger. As Wen Xiaonuan practiced an emotional scene, her character confronted her lover, "Yue," asking if he only approached her because she resembled another woman.
Her delivery visibly unsettled Ye Feimo, and she then directly asked him if he thought she and Han Hui looked alike, a question he deflected with a joke. The next day, Han Hui deliberately remarked to Wen Xiaonuan about their resemblance, later posting an old photo of herself on social media captioned, "My 20-year-old self."
