Kun Lan visited Feng Yun, who was still recovering in the hospital, hoping to understand Feng Yun's feelings for Shuangshuang. Feng Yun remained distrustful of Kun Lan and the Kun family, reminding Kun Lan that his grandfather had once promised to protect Xun Xue, only for her to be tragically burned to death under their care. He found it ridiculous that Kun Lan now pledged to protect Shuangshuang.

Kun Lan acknowledged the Kun family's grave mistake, explaining that his grandfather still lived with profound guilt and regret. He pleaded with Feng Yun to believe in him, promising to shield Shuangshuang from further harm and a life of constant evasion. Kun Lan argued it would be cruel to disrupt Shuangshuang's newfound stable life, where she thrives in a job she loves, gains recognition, and works hard to grow stronger.

Convinced by Kun Lan's sincerity, especially after Kun Lan showed him photos depicting Shuangshuang's current happiness and resilience, Feng Yun reluctantly agreed to trust him, but warned him that their past issues were not forgotten, and Shuangshuang's life was now in Kun Lan's hands, not Kun Tai's. Meanwhile, Qi Xun and Shuangshuang walked by the sea. Shuangshuang asked if Qi Xun often visited the spot, to which he replied he came when he needed to think.

She then inquired about his parents. Qi Xun revealed they had died in a car accident when he was fifteen, a memory that left him with a deep-seated fear of driving, unlike his younger sister Qi Tian whose memories were vaguer. Realizing how much Qi Xun had endured and how much he had cared for her, Shuangshuang hugged him, apologizing for her previous lack of concern.

Qi Xun, in turn, expressed regret for misjudging her, admitting that despite her outwardly carefree demeanor, Shuangshuang was sensitive and often kept her feelings hidden. He vowed to protect her, deeply touching Shuangshuang. Later, Kun Lan and Shuangshuang went to pick up Feng Yun from the hospital. Shuangshuang's relationship with her father was still strained, and she was hesitant about living with him.

As they left, He Zhengchang watched them, his thoughts consumed by memories of his ailing brother, who had spoken of a chosen burial site and sought Xun Xue's help before his death. These recollections fueled He Zhengchang's burning hatred for Feng Yun and Shuangshuang. Feng Yun asked Shuangshuang about her living situation and, upon learning she was staying at Kun Lan's house, proposed an exchange: he would live upstairs with Shuangshuang, and Kun Lan would move downstairs.

Kun Lan readily agreed. While Feng Yun slept, Shuangshuang discovered old hairpins and a cherished childhood sketchbook in his bag, a poignant reminder of their past. When Feng Yun woke, Shuangshuang tearfully apologized for dwelling on his shortcomings, realizing they shared many happy memories. Feng Yun also admitted his mistakes, explaining that his strictness and constant moving were out of a desperate fear that she would be harmed by bad people, which inadvertently made her childhood harder.

Tian Tian showed Kun Lan two bouquets of flowers. She felt a pang of sadness, thinking that in her brother's eyes, perhaps only Shuangshuang mattered, and that no one truly appreciated the flowers' beauty. Later, as Kun Lan and Shuangshuang spent time together, Shuangshuang commented on Kun Lan's good looks, wondering why he didn't have a girlfriend. Kun Lan responded that he only cared if the "person next to me" liked him.

He then presented her with VIP tickets to an amusement park, a surprise for her birthday, which he had planned. They enjoyed themselves greatly, but the celebration was cut short when Qi Xun called Shuangshuang on her phone, claiming an urgent project issue required her to meet him at the gallery. Kun Lan, understanding it was work-related, offered to drive her. Meanwhile, Tian Tian and Shi Lang went to a wedding dress shop.

Shi Lang mistakenly believed Tian Tian's intention was a romantic one, while Tian Tian was simply enjoying trying on various dresses. Shuangshuang arrived at the gallery, expecting a work emergency, only to find Qi Xun sketching. He playfully teased her, prompting Shuangshuang to call him a "crafty jerk" and a "villain," which Qi Xun, amused, accepted. He then presented her with his sketchbook, inviting her to pick any place she liked, promising to take her there.

Shuangshuang chose a romantic bridge, and with a swift teleport, they were there. On the bridge, Shuangshuang shared her love for reading, revealing her knowledge of astronomy and her belief that the sun was merely one of the countless stars in the magnificent galaxy. Qi Xun playfully chided her, but Shuangshuang, unfazed, challenged him to teleport them to the galaxy. Qi Xun teased her about not understanding gravity, prompting Shuangshuang to playfully feign annoyance and sit apart.

With a mischievous grin, Qi Xun instantly appeared beside her, wishing her "Happy birthday" and presenting her with a gift before they shared another kiss. Shuangshuang then wished to visit an underwater world, but Qi Xun's next teleport landed them in a bustling public hot spring. Apologizing for the mishap, Qi Xun offered to try again, but Shuangshuang decided to enjoy the unexpected bath.

Separately, Kun Lan's investigation into Feng Yun's injury revealed that Feng Yun had been hurt while trying to reclaim his paintings from an art dealer named Lu Jinbiao, who had fraudulently sold them all after promising to help Feng Yun.
