At the pet hospital, the old man, comforted by Wan Xinxin's translations of his dog's barks, expressed his gratitude to her, even after his beloved dog passed away. Hua Ming, still surprised by Wan Xinxin's apparent ability to understand animals, asked her about it. Wan Xinxin revealed that the idea came from her father.
She shared a poignant story: her mother died when she was born, and her father raised her alone, creating a fairy tale world where her mother was an angel in heaven. Later, when her father became ill and eventually died in an accident before her wedding day, she realized he was the "real liar" for constructing such a beautiful, yet ultimately fleeting, world. However, she affirmed that she still believes in fairy tales.
Hua Ming, admitting he had been in a terrible mood, felt better after hearing her story and apologized for his earlier rudeness at the hospital. Seeing Wan Xinxin's honesty, Hua Ming, still under the impression that the baby was Xu Ke's, felt compelled to share some "honest thoughts." He gently told her that he believed she had gone too far in her actions against Qin Gang.
Hua Ming explained his view with an analogy: while Qin Gang might have "painted a little green" on her (implying infidelity), she had "dumped an entire bucket of green paint over his head" by having another man's child, questioning how any man could react mildly to such a revelation. He suggested she apologize to Qin Gang. Wan Xinxin was deeply hurt and angered by Hua Ming's judgment, feeling profoundly misunderstood.
She declared that she would no longer trouble his life and stormed away, despite his attempts to stop her. Meanwhile, Xu Chunli, having obtained paternity test results, quickly sent a picture of them to Qin Gang, who immediately called her back. On the phone, Xu Chunli demanded 100,000 yuan from him, stating it was for child support, emotional damages, and "compensation for Xinxin's lost youth."
She instructed him to bring the money to the children's park, threatening that he would "never see the child again" if he failed to comply. Qin Gang, desperate, agreed to her demands. At the park, Xu Chunli, hidden, guided Qin Gang by phone as he anxiously searched for her with the money. She made him confirm the money was real.
She then directed him to a trash can near a statue of a kneeling woman and told him to place the money inside. As Qin Gang complied, Xu Chunli emerged, pushed him into the lake, and then quickly grabbed the money, exclaiming triumphantly to the baby in the stroller, "Bao, we won!" before hurrying away. Xu Chunli excitedly showed the 100,000 yuan to Wan Xinxin, recounting how she had "stood up for her" by pushing Qin Gang into the lake.
She proudly presented the money as support for Wan Xinxin and her son. However, Wan Xinxin was furious, calling Xu Chunli "mad" and adamantly demanding she return the money to Qin Gang immediately. Wan Xinxin even threatened to burn the money if Xu Chunli refused. Despite Xu Chunli arguing that burning money was illegal, Wan Xinxin retorted that Xu Chunli's actions constituted fraud. Xu Chunli, calling Wan Xinxin stubborn, reluctantly agreed to return the money.
Later, Xu Chunli discussed the situation with her husband, Jiang Kaiyang. She showed him the 100,000 yuan and expressed her frustration with Wan Xinxin's refusal to keep it. Jiang Kaiyang advised her against returning the money, explaining that Wan Xinxin, being somewhat irresponsible and currently jobless with a child, would undoubtedly need it for future emergencies.
He suggested Xu Chunli discreetly hold onto the money "for Qin Gang for now," to be returned when Wan Xinxin eventually found a stable job. Xu Chunli, deeming his suggestion "smart," agreed to keep the money. The next day, when Xu Chunli returned home, she found a woman named Miss Shen waiting outside her door. Miss Shen stated she was there for "Director Jiang" (Jiang Kaiyang) regarding a promise, making Xu Chunli immediately suspicious.
When Jiang Kaiyang came home late, claiming overtime, Xu Chunli confronted him, accusing Miss Shen of being his "mistress" and questioning if he was involved in "trading favors." Jiang Kaiyang dismissed her concerns as "watching too many TV dramas," explaining that Miss Shen required "document approval" for issues that necessitated private discussion outside the office. He scolded Xu Chunli for not understanding the complexities of his job. Despite his explanations, Xu Chunli remained unconvinced.
Later that day, while out with the baby, Xu Chunli again saw Jiang Kaiyang with Miss Shen. She observed Miss Shen giving him money and suggesting they collaborate on larger deals, after which they left together, further deepening Xu Chunli's suspicions. Unable to follow her husband and Miss Shen while pushing the stroller, Xu Chunli spotted Hua Ming in the park. Recognizing him, she quickly entrusted him with the baby, asking him to watch "little Bao" for a moment.
As she hurried away to follow Jiang Kaiyang, she muttered to the baby that its "whole family is unreliable." Meanwhile, Qin Gang received a call from his mother, who was abroad and recovering from illness. His mother expressed her desire to return soon and see her grandson. Distraught, as he had recently shared with Liu Wei his fear of his mother discovering his divorce and lack of child custody, Qin Gang called Wan Xinxin.
At the same time, Wan Xinxin had just left a job interview, frustrated after being rejected due to being a single mother. Qin Gang angrily demanded to see their son, claiming his right as the father. Wan Xinxin defiantly asserted the child was hers alone, reminding him of his past actions, and hung up on him.
She then called Xu Chunli, who informed her that she had left the baby with their neighbor, Hua Ming, to attend to an urgent matter. Wan Xinxin then went to the park to meet Qin Gang. At the park, Qin Gang found Hua Ming with the baby. Qin Gang was confused why Hua Ming had the child, and Hua Ming mistakenly stated the child belonged to Wan Xinxin and Xu Ke.
Qin Gang then showed Hua Ming the paternity test results, proving he was the child's biological father. Hua Ming was surprised and realized his previous misunderstanding and accusation against Wan Xinxin were wrong. Qin Gang explained his mother's precarious health and her desire to see her grandson, leading him to fear revealing the divorce and his lack of custody.
Hua Ming, understanding Qin Gang's predicament, agreed to let him take a photo with the baby to send to his mother, but refused to hand over the child directly, as he had promised he would only return the baby to its mother's caretaker. Hua Ming helped Qin Gang take several photos with the baby.
Grateful, Qin Gang gave Hua Ming a large sum of cash, asking him to use it for the baby's needs, not for Wan Xinxin or Hua Ming himself. Hua Ming accepted, intending to count the money and ensure Wan Xinxin repaid it to Qin Gang when she was able. Just then, Wan Xinxin arrived and saw Hua Ming counting the money while Qin Gang stood by the stroller.
She immediately misinterpreted the situation, believing Qin Gang was bribing Hua Ming to take her son. Enraged, she confronted Qin Gang, calling him a "beast" and questioning his paternal claims given his past actions. She grabbed the stroller and fiercely declared she would fight anyone who tried to separate her from her baby, then stormed off. Hua Ming, flustered, tried to explain the "misunderstanding" and quickly returned the money to a bewildered Qin Gang.
Wan Xinxin then took her son to Xu Ke's workplace. Xu Ke, who had previously confided in Wan Xinxin that only a woman named Shilu could "save him," had recently spotted Shilu entering an apartment building during a photoshoot. He had been diligently trying to find her ever since, even moving out of his home, believing his sincerity would eventually bring them together again.
Wan Xinxin, having accepted money from Xu Ke earlier (from selling her bags and his own contribution for her living expenses), recounted the chaotic scene at the park, accusing Hua Ming of almost "selling" their godson. Xu Ke reacted with surprise.
