Confess Your Love Episode 4 Recap
> Confess Your Love Recap
Desperate to prevent Lu Xun from seeing a voice message she had accidentally sent him, Lin Chen rushed to the door of his room. She knew they were both doomed if he heard it. Just as she was about to act, someone passed by in the corridor. Lu Xun quickly pulled Lin Chen into his room, securing the door and windows.
It was three in the morning, and Lin Chen immediately started searching for Lu Xun's phone, intent on destroying the evidence. However, seeing her obvious urgency, Lu Xun adamantly refused to hand over his phone. As they struggled for possession of the device, they accidentally bumped into each other. At that moment, Lu Xun’s younger brother unexpectedly arrived, calling out to him. Lin Chen swiftly hid under the covers in Lu Xun's bed.
Lu Xun's brother entered complaining of chest pain, then casually remarked on his own handsomeness before spotting a "Mock Couple Contract." Reading the name on it, he exclaimed "Lin Wan?" and then inquired about a strange sound, which Lu Xun dismissed as a mosquito. Lu Xun's brother then tried to voice his observation that Lu Xun seemed to treat Lin Wan differently, only to be interrupted by another "mosquito" sound from Lu Xun.
Annoyed, Lu Xun told him to return to New York if he preferred a jet-lagged lifestyle, to which his brother responded that he had finally shaken off their father's control. Before leaving, he asked Lu Xun if he and Lin Wan were already living together. Lu Xun did not answer, and after his brother was gone, he addressed the hidden Lin Chen, asking if she still wanted to borrow his phone. Later, Lin Chen woke from a disturbing nightmare.
Lu Xun, noticing her distress, asked about it. She recounted dreaming of a time when she was a child and stood up for justice, one of her many heroic deeds. Soon after, she received a call from her manager informing her that there was no more money on Lin Wan's card. Lin Chen revealed she had saved 120,000, suggesting they use it since Lu Xun hadn't demanded repayment yet.
Her manager worried it wouldn't last, but Lin Chen expressed confidence that once they finished filming the current variety show, they would receive a substantial balance. The manager then told her to get ready, as they had an endorsement to film for a sponsor that day. Lin Chen's phone lock screen displayed an image of an animal shelter.
Her manager, seeing it, reminded Lin Chen that she was now Lin Wan, an artist, not Lin Chen the veterinarian, and urged her to be careful. The manager left for the hospital to attend to the real Lin Wan, leaving Lin Chen to choose her own outfit for the shoot. Lin Chen arrived at the set to film an endorsement for Baibai Drink, alongside Liu Yan.
During the shoot, Lin Chen struggled to act convincingly, at one point pretending to make a call on an "air phone," much to the director's frustration. Liu Yan, in contrast, performed flawlessly, effusively praising the drink's taste and supposed whitening effects. After one take, Lin Chen expressed her genuine dislike for the drink to Liu Yan. Unbeknownst to Lin Chen, Liu Yan had recorded her candid comments. The sponsor, President Wang, arrived on set.
Liu Yan, feigning concern, played the recording of Lin Chen's disparaging remarks for him. On the recording, Lin Chen could be heard saying, "This thing tastes so horrible. It even has whitening effect? This kind of dosage won't have any whitening effect at all. Even so, you can lie through your teeth. I really admire you." President Wang was furious, accusing the show of slandering his product publicly and demanding Lin Chen's immediate removal.
He threatened to pull his sponsorship and publicly expose the incident if his demands were not met, questioning how the show could hire such an unqualified artist. Lin Chen stepped forward, sincerely apologizing for her words but firmly stating that her mistake had nothing to do with the production team, and she would not quit the show. Just as the situation escalated, Lu Xun appeared.
He sharply warned President Wang that if he publicized Lin Chen's comments, the entire internet would know his product tasted horrible. The director identified Lu Xun as President Lu of SW Group, the main sponsor of the show. Lu Xun then pivoted, accusing President Wang's team of filming in his hotel's garden without proper authorization, a clear breach of contract. He suggested President Wang consult a lawyer.
President Wang tried to appeal to Lu Xun, reminding him they were both businessmen and implying Lu Xun wouldn't risk their future collaboration over a "small-time artist." Lu Xun dismissed him, stating that their assets were too disparate for any collaboration and that SW intended to be the exclusive sponsor. He then instructed his staff to remove President Wang's company's setup, declaring it would make his hotel cleaner.
After President Wang's departure, Lin Chen approached Lu Xun, thanking him for his intervention. Lu Xun, ever pragmatic, replied that he only acted because he wouldn't get paid if anything happened to her. Lin Chen promised to pay him immediately after today's filming, but hesitantly asked if she could pay the remaining balance in installments. Lu Xun reminded her that the initial three days of the show were over, meaning they would have to choose partners again that night.
He reiterated their original agreement: "As long as you help me remain at the start of the show, you can choose anyone you want after that." Lin Chen, after a moment of thought, responded, "Did I say I want to swap?" Lu Xun, in turn, seriously stated that he had no intention of swapping partners either.
