Confess Your Love Episode 24 (Ending) Recap
> Confess Your Love Recap
A stranger, Zhang Ping, bound Lin Chen in an abandoned basement, demanding the crucial evidence Liu Yan had left behind before her death. Zhang Ping didn't expect Liu Yan to leave a "ticking bomb." He pressed Lin Chen to reveal what was inside the evidence, but she cautioned him, urging him not to make further mistakes. Lin Chen then lied, claiming Liu Yan had prepared backups of the evidence years ago.
She questioned Zhang Ping's willingness to gamble with her words and reminded him that if the evidence, which included a recording of how Lu Xun and she had saved Liu Yan and a photograph, were exposed, he would pay for his actions against Liu Yan six years prior and his current deeds. Zhang Ping, angered, retorted with a curse.
Zhang Ping then made a phone call to Lu Xun, threatening Lin Chen's life if Lu Xun did not surrender the backup photo and video evidence. Lu Xun, deeply worried, pleaded with Zhang Ping not to harm Lin Chen. Lu Xun confirmed he had the backup but insisted on Lin Chen's safety. Zhang Ping warned him against any tricks, stating that calling the police would seal Lin Chen's fate.
Lu Xun quickly drove to the location for the exchange, carrying the evidence. Zhang Ping, wary, first demanded to see the item. Lu Xun insisted on Lin Chen's release first, but Zhang Ping refused, fearing a fake or other backups. Lu Xun then argued that he couldn't trust Zhang Ping to release Lin Chen as promised once the evidence was handed over. Seeing Lin Chen still tied, Lu Xun discreetly told her to "buy time."
Zhang Ping directed Lu Xun to a laptop, ordering him to play the evidence, threatening both their lives if he dared to lie. While Lu Xun prepared to play the file, Lin Chen playfully chided him for insisting she wait at the entrance earlier, which led to her capture. Lu Xun explained it was unexpected.
She then joked about not paying him for their "contract" if they survived, to which he firmly said "No," adding that he had resigned as president and needed to save money. Zhang Ping grew impatient and demanded they stop talking. Seizing the moment, Lu Xun confessed to Lin Chen that he had been in love with her since high school. Lin Chen acknowledged that she knew he had a crush.
Lu Xun elaborated that she didn't know he had written her a love letter, or that he used to linger after school just to take the same bus as her. He admitted that he had loved her even before she loved him, and while loving her brought him joy, it also made him a coward, fearing that six years would be too long, that she might forget him or fall out of love.
Zhang Ping interrupted, calling his words "sappy stories" and reiterating his demand for the evidence. Lu Xun then displayed a laptop screen, showing an empty folder. Zhang Ping snatched the device, examined a blank flash drive Lu Xun offered, and realized he had been tricked. Enraged, he attacked them, gravely injuring Lu Xun while protecting Lin Chen. Just then, the police stormed in, announcing their presence.
A defiant Zhang Ping claimed he was no longer the student from six years ago and that he had another backup, but the police apprehended him, informing him he was being taken into custody for investigation. Lin Chen rushed the gravely injured Lu Xun to the hospital. Upon regaining consciousness, Lu Xun playfully teased Lin Chen, asking if she had cried and pretending he had lost his memory, which made her cry again out of relief.
He then reaffirmed the truth of his earlier confession. Lin Chen asked if that meant he had confessed his love first, and he proudly confirmed it, stating his love for her since he was sixteen. Lin Chen reciprocated, saying "Me too." Later, Zheng Ziyan came to the hospital and called Lin Chen out of Lu Xun's room. Lu Xun, understanding, told Lin Chen to go.
Zheng Ziyan confessed his love for Lin Chen, revealing she was the person he had spoken about at the dental clinic. He recounted how he had loved her since high school but was afraid to confess, fearing it would ruin their friendship. Lin Chen, though touched, apologized, stating her love for Lu Xun.
Zheng Ziyan acknowledged her feelings but said he needed to express his own, declaring that he no longer wanted to be just her friend and that from now on, he would be simply a person who loved her. He then announced his departure abroad for training, asking her not to contact him, hoping they would both be well.
Back in the hospital room, Lin Chen questioned Lu Xun about his sudden "passion," to which he teased her, calling her "Mrs. Lu." He reminded her of their agreement to marry the next day. Lu Xun then sent her a voice file, which contained his past thoughts, expressing confusion about her old letter, why Zheng Ziyan had received something similar, and her past desire for him to hate her.
Later, after Lu Xun had recovered, Lin Chen found him in the shower, worried about his injury. He jokingly emerged, telling her that "Mrs. Lu" had forgotten what she needed to do. He then playfully lured her into the bathroom, teasing her about not being a gentleman during the daytime.
Interspersed with these moments were voiceovers, with Lin Chen reminiscing about walking by the field because she could see him on the rooftop, and Lu Xun's voiceover revealing he was always on the rooftop because she was always in the field. Finally, at their wedding, the officiant welcomed guests to the union of Lu Xun and Lin Chen. As Lin Chen walked down the aisle, Lu Xun playfully asked if she intended to leave him at the altar.
He then expressed a sudden desire to know what was written in the love letter she claimed to have written him in high school. Lin Chen feigned forgetting, then challenged him to reveal the contents of his own love letter to her first. Lu Xun produced the letter she had given him, which he had kept for years, and the crowd urged them to read. Lu Xun read Lin Chen's letter: "Dear Schoolmate Lu Xun. Nice to meet you.
I am Lin Chen from Year 3, Class 8. I've noticed you for a long time. Can you be my friend? I'm very good in my studies. We can get better at studies together." Then Lu Xun recited the contents of his letter, which simply asked if she wanted to go to a movie with him on Saturday. Lu Xun noted the letter didn't explicitly state his feelings.
He then took Lin Chen's hand, admitting they had delayed for too long and that he should have confessed his love much earlier. He kissed her, publicly declaring his deep and enduring love. (The End)
