Confess Your Love Episode 22 Recap
> Confess Your Love Recap
Lin Chen stood before the public, confessing her true identity. " I'm not Lin Wan, I'm Lin Chen," she declared. She admitted to lying about her identity, explaining that her sister, Lin Wan, was in a coma and knew nothing of it. Taking full responsibility for her deception, Lin Chen then fervently defended Lu Xun regarding the six-year-old incident, asserting, "I'm sure he wasn't Lu Xun. Lu Xun wasn't even there."
However, a photograph suddenly appeared on the large screen, showing Lu Xun at the scene. Journalists immediately pressed him, asking if he was there. Lu Xun confirmed, "Yes, I was." He clarified that he was the one who reported the incident and was absolutely not the perpetrator, stating that this was documented and the authorities would release a statement to clear everything up. Despite their explanations, the public was enraged and refused to believe them.
They accused Lin Chen of being a liar and demanded she take responsibility for Liu Yan's death, shouting for both her and Lu Xun to be held accountable. Amidst the uproar, Lu Xun's assistant informed him that the board of directors requested his presence. Lu Xun quickly instructed his assistant to take Lin Chen away via his private elevator and head to Meng Jiao's home, emphasizing that it wasn't safe anywhere else and urging her not to worry.
Later, in the underground garage, Lin Chen received an unsettling message and turned to discover the man who had raped her six years ago. She immediately accused him of setting up Lu Xun, which he readily admitted. Confronting him, Lin Chen recounted her past trauma, revealing that she had tried to commit suicide sixteen times in the month following the attack and had relied on sleeping pills ever since.
She would not be threatened again, she declared, and intended to call the police. The man, unfazed, dared her to, knowing she feared her past and photographs being exposed, which would shatter her glamorous image. He then chillingly revealed that Liu Yan was mentally weak and had committed suicide, denying any direct involvement but implying he had manipulated events to cause her death. Meanwhile, Lu Xun was in a heated board meeting.
His colleagues advised him to issue an announcement claiming he was unaware of Lin Chen's identity and was also a victim, and to shift the blame for Liu Yan's death onto Lin Chen. Lu Xun vehemently refused. Despite warnings about the company's stock price, he announced his resignation, stating, "This is my own choice, I will bear the consequences myself."
He insisted he would not allow anyone in SW to be implicated because of him and named Lu Feng as his successor. Back with Lin Chen, the man continued his sinister monologue. He revealed it didn't matter if Lu Xun drank the drugged wine, as long as Lin Chen did, alluding to her habit of taking sleeping pills.
As Lin Chen began to feel disoriented, he detailed his entire scheme: by testifying, Lin Chen would expose her faked identity, making her appear as a greedy, vain liar. Simultaneously, Lu Xun, having been involved in the incident six years ago and being the last person to enter Liu Yan's room, would be perceived as the final push that led to her suicide.
He gloated that no one would believe Lin Chen's testimony, and Lu Xun would become a suspect, unable to protect her. He dismissed the truth, arguing that the public only cares about headlines and would forever brand them a liar and a scumbag, ruined even if not legally charged. This, he declared, was the price Lu Xun had to pay.
However, Lin Chen fearlessly retorted that she was not afraid, as they had done nothing wrong, and warned him that he would ultimately pay for his actions. As Meng Jiao and others rushed to find Lin Chen, Lin Chen immediately expressed her concern for Lu Xun.
In an intercut phone call with Lu Xun, Meng Jiao urged him not to act impulsively and relayed critical updates: Zhang Ping had escaped amid the chaos, and all the hotel's surveillance footage had been overwritten, leaving no evidence of him entering or leaving Liu Yan's room. Outside, the public relentlessly accused Lu Xun and Lin Chen. Amidst the pandemonium, Lin Chen found Lu Xun.
As he began to speak, she interrupted, correctly guessing he might try to push her away to protect her. She called it an "old-fashioned act," and he admitted he was worried she would do the same. They embraced, and Lin Chen affirmed, "Lu Xun, no matter what happens, I will face it with you together." He responded, "Okay, we'll do it together."
