When Lu Xun rushed to the scene, he immediately draped his own coat over Lin Chen and took her away without hesitation. After being rescued, Lin Chen gradually recovered. When asked about her ordeal, she revealed that someone had deliberately pushed her into the cold storage, an admission that instantly put both Lu Xun and their companion on high alert.
Her companion expressed relief that Lu Xun arrived when he did, detailing how he forcefully smashed the lock of the electricity meter box before pulling the door open and rushing in. Lin Chen was surprised to see such a dedicated side of him. Meanwhile, Lu Xun sought out the doctor who had harmed Lin Chen.
He confronted the doctor about acting on Zhang Ping's instructions, noting that Zhang Ping appeared to be dead and had simply used the doctor to do her dirty work. Lu Xun advised the doctor to cooperate with the police, threatening to sue but offering leniency if the doctor confessed Zhang Ping's involvement. Back with Lin Chen, she noticed Lu Xun's injured hand and, despite his dismissal of it as a minor cut, she observed it was a deep, knife-like wound.
She insisted he sit down and scolded him for neglecting such an injury, warning of infection. Lu Xun admitted he was in a hurry. Lin Chen then pressed him, asking if he was so desperate to find her that he disregarded his own injury. She then directly asked him if he loved her. Lu Xun, in turn, asked if she cared about his love because she loved him.
Their playful exchange about spiked heart rates and red faces was cut short when Lu Xun reminded her they were already late for the "Confess Your Love" program. He warned her about trending rumors claiming their "Lin Lu Couple" was fake and that their engagement might be called off, urging her to be careful with her words.
At the program's hosting site, reporters aggressively questioned the director about the delayed appearance of the "Lin Lu Couple" and whether their engagement was a mere act to cover up a contractual relationship. Reporters immediately connected this to Lu Xun, bringing up online leaks about Liu Yan's high school history at No. 47 High School and a past rape accusation, directly asking Lu Xun if he was the perpetrator.
