Confess Your Love Recap

Episode 1 Recap

Lin Wan's agent, Meng Jiao, informed her that the upcoming dating reality show, "Three Day Lovers," was her final opportunity. If she failed to generate public interest, the company would cease providing her with resources. Lin Wan assured Meng Jiao that she would perform well this time. Just then, Liu Yan snatched a list of male guests, declaring her intent to pair with Liu Mo, a popular actor, to create headlines, disregarding the show's rules.

Meng Jiao protested, but Liu Yan dismissed the rules, claiming they were only for "extras" like Lin Wan. Liu Yan then struck Lin Wan across the face. Lin Wan's twin sister, Lin Chen, who had been observing, threatened to expose Liu Yan's two-faced behavior with a video she had recorded. Liu Yan scoffed, boasting about her six million followers compared to Lin Wan's mere sixty thousand, asserting that only popularity mattered.

Liu Yan further warned Lin Wan that she would never allow her to become famous, accusing Lin Wan of stealing her debut role while they were training overseas. Lin Chen, unfazed, then presented a trending topic idea to combine with her video of Liu Yan, effectively blackmailing her. Liu Yan, still failing to recognize Lin Chen as a twin, initially dismissed her. Lin Wan tried to intervene, explaining Lin Chen was her sister and not in the industry.

However, Lin Chen retorted that her outsider status gave her more freedom to act. She demanded the guest list from Liu Yan, calling their exchange a "special deal." Forced by Lin Chen's threat, Liu Yan returned the list and left, but not before instructing "Lin Wan" (unaware it was Lin Chen) not to wear a red dress for the upcoming photoshoot.

Meng Jiao later discussed Liu Yan's past with Lin Wan, recalling how Liu Yan had blamed Lin Wan for her own failed debut after Lin Wan had to quit training due to low blood sugar. Lin Wan, however, expressed some understanding for Liu Yan's temper. Shortly after, Lin Wan was found injured after being attacked.

Meng Jiao quickly ordered her to be taken to the hospital but then paused, explaining the severe consequences if the show discovered Lin Wan's injury: immediate replacement, a 10-year contract suspension, or a massive penalty, which would end Lin Wan's career. Meng Jiao then proposed a daring plan: Lin Chen, whose semester hadn't started, should impersonate Lin Wan for the one-month-long dating show to give her sister a fighting chance.

Despite Lin Chen's initial hesitation, Meng Jiao insisted it was their only option. Meanwhile, a staff member informed Meng Jiao and Lin Chen about a last-minute change: Liu Mo's team was unwilling to be coupled with Lin Wan, essentially sidelining her from the show. Meng Jiao immediately suspected Liu Yan's machinations, accusing the production team of trying to force them out.

Lin Chen, taking on the persona of Lin Wan, confirmed that she could remain on the show as long as she found a partner. Undeterred by the challenge, she resolved to try. Lin Chen then approached a male guest, whom she believed to be Zhao Chen, in Room 809. She explained Liu Yan's scheme to pair with Liu Mo and proposed a temporary partnership as an introductory couple, as the show swapped partners every three days.

Lin Chen offered a reward of 100,000, framing it as an easy way for him to earn money while helping her stay in the competition. However, when the man turned to face her and spoke, questioning if 100,000 was too little, Lin Chen realized with a shock that she was speaking to Lu Xun, the very person she had confessed her feelings to in her youth. This revelation left her stunned and speechless.

Earlier, Lu Xun, having come in person, had already discussed the third male guest, Zhao Chen, and Liu Yan's attempts to eliminate Lin Wan, deciding to ensure Lin Wan stayed on the show.

Episode 2 Recap

After adjusting his glasses, Lu Xun declared that 100,000 yuan was too little, and his imposing presence momentarily stunned Lin Chen, who was currently impersonating her twin sister, Lin Wan. Noticing her surprised expression, Lu Xun asked if she knew him. Panicked, Lin Chen quickly covered her face, denied knowing him, and rushed away. Once outside, she frantically began packing her belongings, desperate to leave before Lu Xun could recognize her.

She confided in her manager, Meng Jiao, about her painful high school memory of having a crush on Lu Xun and being rejected after confessing her feelings. The memory made her feel utterly humiliated. Lin Chen worried that Lu Xun now thought she was a pervert. She and Meng Jiao were about to escape when a staff member informed them that they had to participate in an upcoming activity.

The staffer explained that since there was no introductory couple, Lin Chen, acting as Miss Lin, might only have a brief appearance and be cut from later tasks, and advised her to exaggerate her reactions onstage to ensure she wouldn't be completely edited out. Back in high school, Lin Chen had presented Lu Xun with a "love contract." However, Lu Xun transferred schools the very next day, and they lost contact, never pursuing the matter.

Now, facing him again, Lin Chen felt even more mortified. She felt like she couldn't live on the planet anymore and reaffirmed her desire to pack up and leave. Soon, the show began filming. The first female guest, Meng Ya, was introduced, followed by the second, Liu Yan. When the male guests chose their partners, one picked Liu Yan, leaving Lin Chen without a partner. As Miss Lin, she was informed she would have to temporarily leave the show.

Just as she was preparing to exit the stage, Lu Xun unexpectedly stepped forward and declared that he would pick Lin Wan. He then clarified that he would be joining the show as a guest, with his contract being finalized. With the partners now assigned, everyone could move on to group tasks.

Lu Xun, addressing Lin Chen as Miss Lin, then playfully asked if she remembered the "contract" and suggested that their recent hug should cost her an additional 5,000 yuan. They bartered briefly before settling on the price. A task card was handed out, announcing the theme: "Three Day Lovers." The next activity was an autumn camping trip, which delighted the participants.

Meanwhile, a confidential phone call confirmed that Lin Wan's life was not in danger, but she had a brain injury and was currently in a coma. The caller remarked on the striking resemblance between Lin Chen and Lin Wan, noting that anyone else would have assumed Lin Wan was the one injured, and stressed the importance of keeping Lin Wan's true condition a secret. At the campsite, everyone enjoyed the evening.

Meng Ya and her partner took a walk by the lake. Liu Yan complained to her partner, Liu Mo, about a bug bite, and he promptly offered ointment. Observing this, Liu Yan then challenged Lin Chen, asking if she too had been bitten and had brought ointment. Lu Xun intervened, showing Lin Chen a trick to alleviate the itch, then offered her his jacket, noting she was sweating.

Liu Yan continued to provoke Lin Chen, who eventually conceded defeat in their unspoken competition. Lu Xun then asked Lin Chen if she wanted to win, and she replied yes. Following this exchange, Lin Chen leaned in and passionately kissed Lu Xun.

Episode 3 Recap

After Lin Wan and Lu Xun kissed during the event, Liu Yan was visibly shocked, while others around them began to discuss the scene. Lin Wan discreetly asked Lu Xun how it went, noting that Liu Yan seemed upset. Lu Xun then reminded Lin Wan about their agreement, stating that one kiss would cost her 10,000, calling it a "bargain." Lin Wan, annoyed, retorted that she knew it.

When Lu Xun asked if she expected something else, Lin Wan pushed him away, claiming she needed to go to the restroom. Later, Lin Wan's agent praised her for the performance, noting that the exposure would be excellent. However, her agent expressed surprise at Lu Xun's cooperation, wondering if he recognized Lin Wan from high school. Lin Wan dismissed the idea, stating they never spoke in high school.

Her agent concluded that Lu Xun must have genuinely agreed to Lin Wan's unusual contract. Lin Wan complained about losing 15,000 in one day, mentioning her savings for a veterinary hospital and demanding reimbursement from her agent. Her agent told her to focus, advising her not to be shy or awkward during the upcoming car ride to ensure more footage. Lin Wan confidently stated she wouldn't be. Lin Wan and Lu Xun then sat together in a car.

Lu Xun offered her water, observing her slight panic when she struggled to open the bottle. Following her agent's instruction to create airable content for the dating show, Lin Wan initiated conversation by awkwardly asking Lu Xun for his surname. Lu Xun then asked Lin Wan where she was from. She replied Jiangbei, and Lu Xun remarked on the coincidence as he was also from there, mentioning he went to New York after high school.

He then told Lin Wan that she looked familiar and asked if they had met before, but Lin Wan quickly denied it, claiming she looked like "every average girl." Meanwhile, Liu Yan, unhappy with Lin Wan's growing popularity, began plotting against her. Her team also expressed concern about Lu Xun's unexpected involvement and Lin Wan's increased exposure, vowing to prevent her from succeeding.

In a separate conversation, Lu Xun's friend teased him about possibly falling for Lin Wan and offered dating advice, which Lu Xun quickly shut down with a financial threat. Liu Yan then staged a scene, pretending to have lost a sponsored bracelet and subtly accusing Lin Wan. She rallied everyone to help search for it, specifically calling on Lin Wan. Lin Wan found the bracelet under a table.

Angered, Liu Yan accused Lin Wan of acting tough because Lu Xun was supporting her and tried to search Lin Wan's bag, but Lin Wan stopped her. Lu Xun stepped in, suggesting they call the police for such an "obvious set-up." Liu Yan refused, claiming the bracelet was now broken. She accused Lin Wan of breaking it by throwing it down, even though Lin Wan had merely pointed to its location.

Lu Xun exposed Liu Yan's lie, stating that the bracelet's material would require an electric saw to break, implying Liu Yan deliberately broke it. Liu Yan, unfazed, threatened Lin Wan with sponsor backlash and demanded she take responsibility by quitting the show. Lu Xun had security called and then, playing along with Liu Yan's "fairness," agreed that the item should be compensated.

When Liu Yan tried to corner Lin Wan into paying 70,000 and apologizing to the sponsor, Lu Xun "accidentally" knocked a cup of coffee onto Liu Yan's expensive coat. Using Liu Yan's own logic against her, Lu Xun calculated the cost of cleaning his coat in Paris, including flight tickets, to be 120,000. After deducting the bracelet's cost, he stated Liu Yan owed 50,000 and asserted his right as the main sponsor to keep Lin Wan on the show.

Defeated, Liu Yan agreed to pay the 50,000, and Lu Xun instructed her to transfer the money directly to Lin Wan. After the incident, Lin Wan thanked Lu Xun, but he immediately questioned if she intended to keep the 50,000. He then pointed out that the contract she brought was unsigned, meaning its terms were unenforceable, yet implied she was still bound by her "debt" to him. Lin Wan feigned innocence.

In a separate scene, Lu Xun's friend offered him chocolate, but Lu Xun revealed he is allergic. The friend then remarked that the girl pretending to be Lin Wan, while looking identical to the real one, had completely different habits. He used the example that the real Lin Wan always carried chocolates to replenish her sugar, and he marveled at how they had managed to fool everyone about her identity.

Later, while discussing Lu Xun with her agent, Lin Wan complained about him being "mean" and trying to "scam all her hard-earned money." She then accidentally sent this as a voice message to Lu Xun. Both Lin Wan and her agent panicked, frantically trying to recall the message, but Lin Wan's phone abruptly died.

Episode 4 Recap

Desperate to prevent Lu Xun from seeing a voice message she had accidentally sent him, Lin Chen rushed to the door of his room. She knew they were both doomed if he heard it. Just as she was about to act, someone passed by in the corridor. Lu Xun quickly pulled Lin Chen into his room, securing the door and windows.

It was three in the morning, and Lin Chen immediately started searching for Lu Xun's phone, intent on destroying the evidence. However, seeing her obvious urgency, Lu Xun adamantly refused to hand over his phone. As they struggled for possession of the device, they accidentally bumped into each other. At that moment, Lu Xun’s younger brother unexpectedly arrived, calling out to him. Lin Chen swiftly hid under the covers in Lu Xun's bed.

Lu Xun's brother entered complaining of chest pain, then casually remarked on his own handsomeness before spotting a "Mock Couple Contract." Reading the name on it, he exclaimed "Lin Wan?" and then inquired about a strange sound, which Lu Xun dismissed as a mosquito. Lu Xun's brother then tried to voice his observation that Lu Xun seemed to treat Lin Wan differently, only to be interrupted by another "mosquito" sound from Lu Xun.

Annoyed, Lu Xun told him to return to New York if he preferred a jet-lagged lifestyle, to which his brother responded that he had finally shaken off their father's control. Before leaving, he asked Lu Xun if he and Lin Wan were already living together. Lu Xun did not answer, and after his brother was gone, he addressed the hidden Lin Chen, asking if she still wanted to borrow his phone. Later, Lin Chen woke from a disturbing nightmare.

Lu Xun, noticing her distress, asked about it. She recounted dreaming of a time when she was a child and stood up for justice, one of her many heroic deeds. Soon after, she received a call from her manager informing her that there was no more money on Lin Wan's card. Lin Chen revealed she had saved 120,000, suggesting they use it since Lu Xun hadn't demanded repayment yet.

Her manager worried it wouldn't last, but Lin Chen expressed confidence that once they finished filming the current variety show, they would receive a substantial balance. The manager then told her to get ready, as they had an endorsement to film for a sponsor that day. Lin Chen's phone lock screen displayed an image of an animal shelter.

Her manager, seeing it, reminded Lin Chen that she was now Lin Wan, an artist, not Lin Chen the veterinarian, and urged her to be careful. The manager left for the hospital to attend to the real Lin Wan, leaving Lin Chen to choose her own outfit for the shoot. Lin Chen arrived at the set to film an endorsement for Baibai Drink, alongside Liu Yan.

During the shoot, Lin Chen struggled to act convincingly, at one point pretending to make a call on an "air phone," much to the director's frustration. Liu Yan, in contrast, performed flawlessly, effusively praising the drink's taste and supposed whitening effects. After one take, Lin Chen expressed her genuine dislike for the drink to Liu Yan. Unbeknownst to Lin Chen, Liu Yan had recorded her candid comments. The sponsor, President Wang, arrived on set.

Liu Yan, feigning concern, played the recording of Lin Chen's disparaging remarks for him. On the recording, Lin Chen could be heard saying, "This thing tastes so horrible. It even has whitening effect? This kind of dosage won't have any whitening effect at all. Even so, you can lie through your teeth. I really admire you." President Wang was furious, accusing the show of slandering his product publicly and demanding Lin Chen's immediate removal.

He threatened to pull his sponsorship and publicly expose the incident if his demands were not met, questioning how the show could hire such an unqualified artist. Lin Chen stepped forward, sincerely apologizing for her words but firmly stating that her mistake had nothing to do with the production team, and she would not quit the show. Just as the situation escalated, Lu Xun appeared.

He sharply warned President Wang that if he publicized Lin Chen's comments, the entire internet would know his product tasted horrible. The director identified Lu Xun as President Lu of SW Group, the main sponsor of the show. Lu Xun then pivoted, accusing President Wang's team of filming in his hotel's garden without proper authorization, a clear breach of contract. He suggested President Wang consult a lawyer.

President Wang tried to appeal to Lu Xun, reminding him they were both businessmen and implying Lu Xun wouldn't risk their future collaboration over a "small-time artist." Lu Xun dismissed him, stating that their assets were too disparate for any collaboration and that SW intended to be the exclusive sponsor. He then instructed his staff to remove President Wang's company's setup, declaring it would make his hotel cleaner.

After President Wang's departure, Lin Chen approached Lu Xun, thanking him for his intervention. Lu Xun, ever pragmatic, replied that he only acted because he wouldn't get paid if anything happened to her. Lin Chen promised to pay him immediately after today's filming, but hesitantly asked if she could pay the remaining balance in installments. Lu Xun reminded her that the initial three days of the show were over, meaning they would have to choose partners again that night.

He reiterated their original agreement: "As long as you help me remain at the start of the show, you can choose anyone you want after that." Lin Chen, after a moment of thought, responded, "Did I say I want to swap?" Lu Xun, in turn, seriously stated that he had no intention of swapping partners either.

Episode 5 Recap

Lu Xun informed Lin Wan that he would consider renewing her contract. At that moment, Liu Yan approached Lin Wan, demanding that Lin Wan choose Liu Mo as her partner for the upcoming three-day round, so Liu Yan could partner with Lu Xun. When Lin Wan expressed her unwillingness, bringing up a past incident involving a voice recording, Liu Yan quickly escalated her offer from 200,000 to 500,000, and finally to 1,000,000 for Lin Wan to agree.

Meanwhile, Lu Xun was confident that Lin Wan would not choose to swap partners. However, when he saw that Lin Wan had not picked him, he angrily told his brother that he would no longer participate in the reality show. His brother expressed frustration, reminding Lu Xun of the company's investment in promoting him for the dating show. When Jiao Jie learned that Lin Wan had not chosen Lu Xun, she was initially upset, worrying about Liu Yan's intentions.

Lin Wan then revealed Liu Yan's substantial payment of 1,000,000. Lin Wan explained that a portion of this money would cover Lu Xun's contract renewal, leaving a significant balance that could be used for medical expenses. She added that this was just the first payment, with the rest to follow in three days, after which they could simply "take Lu Xun back." Jiao Jie quickly agreed that this was a financially advantageous deal.

As Lu Xun prepared to leave the show, his brother's words made him reconsider. His brother pointed out that Lu Xun had been treating Lin Wan differently, questioning if he had a change of heart from his high school crush, who he suspected had once confessed to him. A flashback played in Lu Xun's mind of "Lin Chen from Class 8" practicing confessions.

His brother's advice that leaving now would only give others an opportunity, as the upcoming events were all couples-only tasks, convinced Lu Xun to stay. When the program resumed filming for a baking task, Liu Yan tried to appear charming for the cameras, but Lu Xun completely ignored her. The production team then informed Lin Wan that Liu Mo had suffered a leg injury and would be absent.

They instructed Lin Wan to join Lu Xun and Liu Yan's group to create more drama, but Lin Wan privately worried about interacting with Lu Xun since she hadn't received the full payment from Liu Yan. Despite this, Lin Wan appeared at the filming location, unexpectedly bringing her high school classmate, Zheng Ziyan, who was now a successful dentist. Zheng Ziyan recognized Lu Xun, playfully recalling their rivalry as the top two students in high school.

Ignoring the director's initial protest, Lin Wan invited Zheng Ziyan to partner with her, much to Lu Xun's visible displeasure. Zheng Ziyan remarked that Lu Xun still had the same scowl as in high school. During the tiramisu baking challenge, Liu Yan attempted to interact with Lu Xun by feigning difficulty with math, but he curtly dismissed her, suggesting she use a calculator.

When Liu Yan realized their team lacked cinnamon powder and asked Lu Xun for some, he flatly refused. Zheng Ziyan, however, provided some to Lin Wan. Zheng Ziyan also noticed the production team's deliberate uneven distribution of ingredients, noting that only Lu Xun's side had milk. Once the cakes were finished, Lu Xun offered a piece to Lin Wan.

Remembering that she was allergic to chocolate, he quickly leaned in and ate the chocolate off the cake near her mouth, to her surprise. He then subtly reminded her that she used to love chocolate the most.

Episode 6 Recap

After Lu Xun removed the chocolate from Lin Wan's mouth, the surrounding crowd, including Lin Wan herself, was left in disbelief. Embarrassed by his actions, Lin Wan returned the item to him, but Lu Xun questioned why she was doing so, stating that no one had asked her to return it. The footage of their interaction quickly went viral online, with many viewers speculating that their on-screen romance was genuine.

Meanwhile, Liu Yan, upon returning home, furiously called Lin Wan, demanding her money back. Later, Lin Wan met with Zheng Ziyan for dinner and vented her frustrations about not receiving her final payment. She expressed her confusion over Lu Xun's sudden return from abroad to help her without a word. Despite Zheng Ziyan's repeated attempts to highlight his own merits, Lin Wan remained uninterested.

Lin Wan then received an urgent call from Meng Jiao, who was in trouble, prompting her to rush to the hospital. While near a trash can, she was suddenly overcome by terrifying memories of a past incident involving a "doctor" with black gloves, causing her to crouch down in fear. Moments later, hearing footsteps behind her, a startled Lin Wan grabbed a broom and swung it, accidentally striking Lu Xun. She immediately apologized, explaining she didn't realize it was him.

At the hospital, after Lu Xun received a tetanus shot for his injury, he and Lin Wan discussed their reasons for being there. Lin Wan explained that Meng Jiao was feeling unwell, while Lu Xun stated that his brother, Lu Feng, was ill. Lin Wan noticed a new scar on Lu Xun, and when she questioned it, Lu Xun hinted that she should know about the absence of such a scar before, implying his awareness of her past.

Soon after, Zheng Ziyan arrived, having been looking for Lin Wan after she didn't answer his calls. Lu Feng also appeared, surprised to see Lu Xun and Lin Wan together at the hospital. He later confirmed to Lin Wan that Meng Jiao had been moved to a VIP ward. As Lin Wan prepared to leave with Zheng Ziyan, he insisted on accompanying her due to her injured arm, though she assured him she was fine.

Outside the hospital, Lu Feng confronted Lin Wan, playfully teasing her about being "a vegetable" and questioning her presence. He introduced himself as the younger brother of the SW Group's president, though Lin Wan initially dismissed him as a "chicken" due to his casual attire. Lu Feng warned her not to spread their conversation around. Later, in a private moment, Lu Feng directly asked Lu Xun if he knew Lin Wan's true identity. Lu Xun unequivocally confirmed that he did.

Episode 7 Recap

Upon Zheng Ziyan's persistent questioning, Lu Xun readily admitted that he already knew Lin Chen's true identity. Zheng Ziyan then declared Lu Xun was too late, having disappeared without a trace for six years. He emphasized that he was the one who had stayed by her side all that time, understanding her lifestyle and knowing her preferences, thereby becoming a part of her life. In contrast, Lu Xun was merely her high school classmate.

Zheng Ziyan pressed further, asking what Lu Xun was afraid of, knowing her true identity yet still pretending not to. He surmised that Lu Xun was testing her because he feared the answer, unsure if she had ever liked him in high school and believing any such feelings would be long gone after six years.

Lu Xun then inquired about the contents of a certain letter, but Zheng Ziyan, revealing he had seen Lu Xun that day, refused to disclose what was in it. Lin Chen then arrived to pick them up. The atmosphere in the car was tense. Zheng Ziyan attempted to lighten the mood by suggesting music and turning on the air conditioning, but Lin Chen rejected both ideas.

Soon after, Zheng Ziyan dismissed Lu Xun, stating he had more to discuss with Lin Wan. After Lu Xun left, Zheng Ziyan asked Lin Chen if she had fought with him, to which she replied that she couldn't be bothered with him. Zheng Ziyan observed that Lin Chen seemed out of sorts since their visit to the hospital, and she attributed it to the rain bringing back painful memories of a past incident.

He cautioned her about confronting danger alone, recalling how she had bravely saved a girl's life, and noted that the criminal involved was eventually imprisoned for other offenses. Lin Chen maintained that she had to intervene, though she also admitted that the police's timely arrival was a coincidence. Back at home, Lu Xun's younger brother burst into his room, claiming he had a "supernatural encounter."

He recounted seeing Lin Wan at the hospital, baffled that she had been filming with Lu Xun during the day and then "turned into a vegetable" by night. Lu Xun responded calmly, stating he understood and deduced that this must be why Lin Chen replaced her sister.

He instructed his brother to check the hotel's surveillance footage from the first day of filming, suspecting that an injury sustained by someone in Lin Wan's team that day might not have been an accident. He wanted all crews who entered and exited the hotel on that day to be investigated. The following day, reporters swarmed Lin Wan (Lin Chen), celebrating the "Lin Lu Couple."

Observing the scene, Liu Yan felt a surge of jealousy, especially hearing her own friends inquire about the "couple." She confided in her assistant, recalling how she had felt inferior to the original Lin Wan during their overseas training and now yearned to surpass her. Her assistant remarked that Lin Wan had changed, no longer the quiet person she used to be.

This comment triggers Liu Yan's suspicion, and she begins to connect the dots, realizing she might be dealing with a twin. She questions her assistant, "Is it possible that she isn't Lin Wan?" Liu Yan recalls looking inside "Lin Wan's" bag and finding no chocolate, unlike the real Lin Wan, who always carried it for her low blood sugar. She also points out how unnatural "Lin Wan's" expression was when eating cake.

She then asks if the real Lin Wan is allergic to anything. The assistant confirms the original Lin Wan is not, but adds that since she has an "annoying twin sister," they couldn't be sure about the current one. Later, during a members-only couple's interview, a director explained the game rules: wrong answers would result in an electric zap. Before filming began, Lu Xun asked Lin Chen if her arm was alright, and she confirmed it was fine.

The first question was about their initial ideal type. Lin Chen immediately replied, "The total opposite of President Lu," causing a zap sound. She described her ideal type as handsome, caring, fond of small animals, and brave. When Lu Xun was asked, he simply stated his ideal type was "the same" as hers. During the interview, Liu Yan takes advantage of a drink delivery to the set, creating a distraction to tamper with the beverage intended for "Miss Lin Wan."

The next question asked what they had learned about each other as a mock couple. Lu Xun answered first, describing Lin Chen in detail with memories from high school. He recalled her as a foodie who cried easily but pretended to be strong, had beautiful eyes, was competitive, and often got injured without anyone knowing. He noted her love for animals, her kindness, and how she easily fell for tricks.

Lin Chen, blushing, interjected that she was "allergic to chocolate" and protested his teasing. Lu Xun continued, describing her as courageous despite her small stature, afraid of ghosts yet willing to help lost children, enduring pain silently, and facing fear without backing down. The host intervened, offering them the newly arrived drinks to calm down. When it was Lin Chen's turn, she began to describe Lu Xun.

She depicted him as a straight-A student who appeared cold but possessed a kind heart and cherished good memories. She highlighted his beautiful smile and his love for reading and small animals, recalling how he adored a kitten that was tragically killed by a dog, causing him great sorrow. She noted that he had since refused to pick up stray kittens, afraid he wouldn't be able to protect them.

She concluded that despite his outwardly cold and quiet demeanor, he was a warm and kind person, like a tall tree providing shelter to others. Following the interview, Lin Chen inadvertently drank the beverage that Liu Yan had secretly tampered with, causing her to immediately break out in an allergic reaction.

Episode 8 Recap

While continuing to film, Lin Chen unknowingly drank a beverage that Liu Yan had tampered with. Shortly after, Lin Chen began experiencing an allergic reaction and excused herself to the restroom, asking Jiao jie to cover the rash on her neck. Liu Yan, who had been waiting for this opportunity, followed her and confronted her in the restroom, questioning her true identity while secretly recording the encounter.

To prove she was Lin Wan, who has low blood sugar, Lin Chen was forced to eat a chocolate bar that Liu Yan offered, despite her severe allergy. As Lin Chen's condition worsened, Lu Xun stepped in. Making an excuse to the crew that his arm was injured and he needed to go to the hospital, he shielded Lin Chen from Liu Yan and rushed her for medical treatment.

After recovering, Lin Chen planned to help her sister, Lin Wan, secure the female supporting role in a web series she had always wanted. She and Jiao jie went to a dinner meeting with the investor, President Liu, only to find that Liu Yan was also there vying for the same part. During the dinner, President Liu made unwanted advances and pressured both women to drink heavily. After Lin Chen threw water on him in defiance, he became aggressive. Just as he grabbed her, Lu Xun arrived, rescued her, and openly called her by her real name, Lin Chen, confirming that he had known her true identity all along.

Episode 9 Recap

A flashback reveals Lu Xun's journey to uncovering Lin Chen's identity. One month before the dating show's filming, he discovered photos of Lin Chen volunteering at the Seven Ravine Shelter for Stray Animals, learning her name was an alias. Ten days before the show, during a company meeting about the "Three Day Lovers" dating program, Lu Xun recognized her on screen. His subordinate identified her by her stage name, Lin Wan, a minor artist with only one advertisement.

The flashback culminates on the day of filming when Lin Wan asks him when he found out her true identity, and he replies that he has known all along. The scene then returns to the present, where Lu Xun is rescuing Lin Wan from a dangerous dinner with President Liu. He decisively dismisses the men who put her in jeopardy, telling them to "Get out" and not let him see them again, before carrying the intoxicated Lin Wan away.

The next morning, Lin Wan woke up with a throbbing headache, feeling disoriented. It was the first time she had ever consumed so much alcohol. Jiao Jie, who was with her, expressed her anger at President Liu for making them drink excessively the night before and confiscating their phones. Jiao Jie worried about what could have happened, though she assured Lin Wan that she herself was fine.

Lin Wan struggled to recall the night's events, only vaguely remembering Lu Xun coming to save her and wondering what else transpired. Jiao Jie jokingly remarked on Lin Wan's amnesia. Suddenly, there was a frantic knocking at their door. When Jiao Jie opened it, Liu Yan walked in. Liu Yan silently presented a "Thanks" note to Lin Wan, then verbally stated they could let bygones be bygones and she wouldn't stab Lin Wan in the back anymore.

However, she quickly added a caveat, declaring her continued hatred for Lin Wan and vowing to ruin her career if she ever found any compromising information. Lin Wan calmly responded that she expected nothing less. Jiao Jie, however, found Liu Yan's behavior annoying. Later that morning, as Lin Wan was preparing for another interview at a cafe, she encountered Lu Xun.

He observed her looking nauseous, prompting a playful exchange about their "coincidental" meeting at his hotel, where they were both filming the dating show. Lin Wan thanked him for coming to look for her the previous night, trying to piece together her memories. She speculated if he was pressing her for money, admitting her mind was blank about anything else.

Lu Xun, noting her struggle, said it was fine if she had forgotten, but Lin Wan insisted he repeat what he said, frustrated by his reticence. During her interview at the cafe, a woman suddenly burst in, loudly accusing Lin Wan of being a mistress. The woman, who turned out to be President Liu's wife, presented a photograph as "proof" and publicly defamed Lin Wan, claiming she used dishonest methods to get roles.

Lin Wan attempted to defend herself, explaining that President Liu had tricked them into the dinner and confiscated their phones to take advantage of them. The woman, however, dismissed her claims, pointing to the photo and suggesting Lin Wan didn't look reluctant. Lin Wan mentioned Liu Yan as a witness, but a staff member reported that Liu Yan was feeling unwell and couldn't confirm anything.

Meanwhile, Liu Yan, advised by her manager, chose not to get involved, fearing it would ruin her own career. Back at the cafe, the public started to gossip, with "Lin Wan turns out to be a mistress" quickly becoming a trending topic. Jiao Jie urged Lin Wan to leave, but Lin Wan refused, unwilling to appear guilty by running away. As the situation escalated and no one was willing to speak up for Lin Wan, Lu Xun stepped forward.

He calmly stated that he was also present at the dinner, explaining that President Liu had gotten drunk and harassed Miss Lin. When President Liu's wife claimed her husband said Lu Xun wasn't there, Lu Xun countered that it was simply two conflicting accounts. The wife then accused Lu Xun of fabricating his story to avoid implication, given his connection to Lin Wan through the dating show and his presence at the hotel. In a dramatic declaration that silenced the crowd, Lu Xun finally revealed his true motive: "It's because she is my girlfriend."

Episode 10 Recap

The situation with the producer's wife escalated as she continued to express doubt about Lu Xun and Lin Chen's relationship, despite having witnessed them kissing. Lu Xun calmly explained that he was simply accompanying his girlfriend, and the dinner took place at his hotel. The woman, however, was adamant, accusing them of fabricating the relationship to cover up for Lin Chen and presenting photos as proof. Lu Xun dismissed the photos as mere misleading angles from many shots.

He challenged her to ask President Liu for all the photographs, asserting that the truth about who was lying would then become clear. He further pointed out that if Lin Chen truly intended to leverage President Liu for personal gain, she would have done so privately, not in front of many people, and certainly wouldn't have left any "proof" behind.

Lu Xun then revealed that President Liu had consumed too much alcohol the previous night and had attempted to harass Lin Chen, leading Lu Xun to kick him on his right shoulder. He urged Mrs. Liu to go back and verify this detail for herself. He added that if she still harbored doubts, she could arrange for President Liu to meet him in person to discuss the events, but questioned whether President Liu would dare to face him.

Lu Xun concluded that if President Liu declined to appear, it would be evident who was lying. As Lu Xun concluded his statements, he addressed the gathered crowd, declaring that now that the situation was clarified, the hotel would pursue accountability. He informed them that their legal department would record their information for trespassing into the hotel without permission and disturbing guests, reserving the right to investigate.

Hearing this, the crowd quickly dispersed, apologizing and insisting it was all a misunderstanding. Meanwhile, news of the "Lin Lu Couple" went viral online, with netizens celebrating their "official announcement." Lin Chen's manager, Jiaojie, discussed with her staff the temporary suspension of filming for their show, and the plan to issue a joint statement with the production team. Jiaojie expressed regret about not retaliating against Mrs. Liu, noting that as newcomers with little reputation, any misstep could be disastrous.

She credited Lu Xun for his quick thinking, acknowledging that without his intervention, they would have struggled to explain the situation. At the hospital, Zheng Ziyan saw the trending topic #LinLuCoupleOfficialAnnouncement on his phone. He confronted Lin Chen, asking if she and Lu Xun were genuinely together, which Lin Chen quickly denied. Shortly after, Lu Xun arrived. Lin Chen sat cautiously between the two men, refraining from speaking.

Zheng Ziyan questioned Lu Xun, asking why he claimed to be Lin Chen's boyfriend rather than just her boss, and if the kiss was truly necessary, suggesting a hug would have sufficed. Lu Xun simply replied that he forgot. Zheng Ziyan probed further, asking why Lu Xun would so kindly help Lin Chen when he wasn't involved. Lu Xun clarified that his involvement was a business matter.

He explained that President Liu was backed by Smart Alliance System, which owned numerous top hotels, and the incident occurred at SW Hotel. If Lin Chen had been slandered, Smart Alliance would inevitably turn it into an issue for SW.

When Zheng Ziyan expressed concern that others might contradict Lu Xun's story about being at the dinner, Lu Xun assured him that no one would dare anger President Liu or offend SW, and President Liu himself would avoid issuing a public statement, thereby revealing who was truthful. Lu Xun then asked Lin Chen if she had offended anyone recently, a question she denied.

The tense conversation was interrupted when Lin Chen declared she was hungry and offered to make noodles for everyone. Lu Xun then suggested they eat outside instead. As they prepared to leave, it began to rain. Lin Chen offered to retrieve umbrellas. Zheng Ziyan, however, initially refused to leave Lu Xun and Lin Chen alone, before Lin Chen insisted she would go.

Alone, Zheng Ziyan confronted Lu Xun, calling him "full of schemes," to which Lu Xun retorted that it was better than being "stupid and actually stupid." Zheng Ziyan warned Lu Xun not to get ahead of himself, emphasizing that until Lin Chen explicitly stated her intentions, Lu Xun was merely an old schoolmate who had transferred away. Zheng Ziyan then questioned why Lu Xun, being so shrewd, hadn't simply asked Lin Chen what was written in a certain letter.

Suddenly, Lu Xun noticed someone tracking them. He urgently instructed Zheng Ziyan to take Lin Chen upstairs and stay with her, emphasizing not to leave her side, as something urgent had come up. Lu Xun then pursued the person he suspected was following them. In the rain, he encountered a man who held a long-standing grudge against him from their past. The man immediately challenged Lu Xun, asking if he remembered him.

A flashback showed a chemistry book belonging to "Lin Chen, Year 3 Class 8," hinting at a shared past involving her. The man then taunted Lu Xun, calling him a "brat" for trying to be a hero, implying a past incident where Lu Xun intervened to protect someone. Lu Xun firmly warned the man, "Don't touch her," and cautioned him about the legal consequences of his actions, stating that every wrong step would lead to another year in prison.

The man, enraged, refused to be lectured by Lu Xun and threatened to teach him a lesson for trying to save someone that day. Lu Xun revealed he had already called the police. The man struggled, demanding to be released and warning Lu Xun that he would regret this for the rest of his life and that he would return for him.

Episode 11 Recap

The man who had just been released from prison glared fiercely at Lu Xun, believing that Lu Xun was responsible for his miserable life over the past five years. He recounted his suffering in jail, how he lost a finger and endured five years of hardship. He had hoped for a new beginning after prison, but instead, his mother died, his wife abandoned him, and his son committed suicide, leaving him utterly alone with no place in the world.

Lu Xun reminded the man that he should have considered the consequences of his crimes back then, and not claim the moral high ground. The man vehemently denied fault, insisting he was merely drunk and that Lu Xun was to blame for his imprisonment. He accused Lu Xun of trying to sue him for rape, even though the girl herself never dared to press charges, and he was only convicted of intentional injury.

He mockingly observed that Lu Xun, now a hotel chain president, and Lin Chen, masquerading as a small-time artist, were living luxurious lives, a stark contrast to his own. He declared that he wouldn't kill them, but would make them lose everything and be abandoned by society, forcing them to experience the pain he had endured. Lu Xun sternly warned the man not to lay a finger on Lin Chen.

Later, while Lin Chen was having a meal with Zheng Ziyan, a waiter accidentally spilled hot soup. Zheng Ziyan quickly shielded Lin Chen, taking the hot liquid on his own hand. Despite being scalded, he downplayed his injury, saying he looked "cooler with a scar," unlike a girl who needed to worry about marriage. Lin Chen joked that only Harry Potter looked cool with a scar. Lu Xun then joined them at the table.

A fan approached, addressing her as Lin Wan, and asked to take a photo with her and Lu Xun, stating she was a fan of them as a couple. Zheng Ziyan tried to intervene, stating it was inconvenient, but the fan insisted, and he ended up taking the photo for them. After the meal, Lu Xun walked Lin Chen home. She thanked him for sending her back.

Lu Xun then unexpectedly declared his intention to stay the night, citing that her roommate, Meng Jiao, was at work, and he didn't want to stay in any other hotel. When Lin Chen pointed out he was a president and should have a driver or could go to a nearby hotel, he claimed his driver was having a baby and it was raining too heavily for taxis.

Finally, he reminded her of a 115,000 debt she owed him, effectively coercing her into letting him stay. Lin Chen, finding his behavior strange, reluctantly agreed. Later that night, as Lu Xun slept, Lin Chen watched him silently. She found old photographs of Jiangbei No. 47 High School. Lu Xun, awakening, noticed her looking at the photos and commented on her "twin sister," noting their striking resemblance.

Lin Chen revealed that even their mother sometimes couldn't tell them apart, but she implied her sister might be adopted and they weren't close, so her sister's actions were none of her concern. Lu Xun mentioned that he also attended Jiangbei No. 47 High School and asked her sister's name, wondering if he knew her. Lin Chen quickly changed the subject. Suddenly, Lu Xun seemed unwell. Lin Chen noticed he looked pale and had a fever, and she helped him.

While Lu Xun rested, Lin Chen continued to ponder why he had suddenly transferred schools back then and disappeared for six years. Her thoughts drifted to a memory: Lu Xun in a hospital, where a doctor informed his mother that he needed immediate surgery for broken bones, hip necrosis, and a hip replacement.

The doctor explained it was a high-risk, Level 4 surgery, and there was no guarantee of full hip movement recovery without systemic rehabilitation, which wasn't available in China. Lu Xun resisted going to the US for rehab, wanting to attend university locally. His mother pressed him, emphasizing that his father and younger brother were in the US and it was time for his father to do his duty.

She then revealed that the girl involved in the incident hadn't sued the attacker and had moved away overnight, resulting in the attacker only being charged with intentional injury. She insisted that the attacker was bent on revenge and that Lu Xun leaving Jiangbei was the only way to ensure everyone's safety. Lu Xun, understanding the gravity of the situation, relented.

Back in the present, Lin Chen leaned closer to the sleeping Lu Xun, seemingly to touch his face, but Lu Xun's hand suddenly shot out, grabbing her wrist, revealing he was awake.

Episode 12 Recap

Lin Wan, caught peeking at Lu Xun while he pretended to sleep, quickly made an excuse about mosquitoes. Lu Xun, who had been aware of her gaze, couldn't help but smile knowingly. The next morning, Sister Jiao arrived at Lin Wan's house only to find Lu Xun there. She looked at them incredulously, immediately asking if they were living together. Lin Wan quickly clarified that Lu Xun had just stayed the night.

Sister Jiao, unfazed, saw it as a perfect opportunity to send them off to film their show, noting that the day's segment would be their first special date after the official announcement of their relationship. Meanwhile, the media was abuzz with the sweet love story of Lin Wan and Lu Xun, and their popularity soared, overshadowing Liu Yan, who had previously been the center of attention.

As Liu Yan stepped out, reporters swarmed her, pressing for comments on Lin Wan and Lu Xun's relationship, asking if she knew about it during filming, and if she considered Lin Wan a best friend. Liu Yan, visibly annoyed, politely declined to comment. She internally fumed about Lin Wan, remarking on her unexpected recovery from a "mistress scandal" to publicly dating Lu Xun, and now getting all the attention.

Her assistant informed her that Lin Wan's popularity had skyrocketed, placing them 12 ranks higher, and that the latest segment of "Three Day Lovers" was entirely focused on the "Lin Lu Couple." Liu Yan, frustrated that she was no longer the main feature, declared this couldn't continue and confirmed with her assistant that Liu Mo's team had agreed to their plan. She vowed to Lin Wan that she would snatch back the spotlight.

Amidst her thoughts, Liu Yan received a mysterious message on her phone about "Jiangbei Hospital VIP1008." Later, during the show's filming, the director explained the concept for the day: a double date where Lin Wan and Lu Xun would encounter a friend also on a date. Liu Yan expressed her displeasure at being referred to merely as "a friend," lamenting losing her own name. The director tried to reassure her, emphasizing that featuring two popular couples would be an advantage.

As preparations began, Liu Yan challenged Lin Wan, asserting that Lin Wan wouldn't get any exposure that day. Lin Wan confidently retorted, "We'll see about that." The filming commenced, with Lin Wan and Liu Yan exchanging polite but strained greetings. Liu Yan then dramatically announced that she and Liu Mo were officially together, hoping to steal Lin Wan's thunder.

She and Liu Mo confirmed their public announcement, to the delight of the director, who celebrated having "two pairs of real couples." The competition continued as they played at a claw machine. Liu Yan and Liu Mo proudly displayed their winnings. Lin Wan, frustrated by their own lack of success and minimal screen time, discreetly told Lu Xun that they needed to actively reclaim the show's exposure.

As Liu Mo continued to win plushies for Liu Yan, Lu Xun prepared to intervene, but Lin Wan stopped him, refusing to accept a handout from their rivals. However, Lu Xun had a different idea; he bought all the plushies from the machine and presented them to Lin Wan, declaring, "These are all yours." Lin Wan, feigning surprise, then jokingly offered to let Liu Yan catch two more if she paid for them, which Liu Yan promptly refused.

The next scene took place in a clothing store, where Liu Yan claimed a dress before Lin Wan could get it, insisting Lin Wan would look "ugly" in it. As Liu Mo readily agreed to buy the dress, Liu Yan, fearing Lu Xun might repeat his grand gesture of buying everything, declared that apart from that one dress, Lin Wan could have anything else she wanted, as she didn't like them anyway.

In response, Lin Wan had an idea and tried on the very dress Liu Yan coveted. Lu Xun immediately complimented her, calling her "very beautiful" with "unparalleled beauty." Irked, Liu Yan accused Lin Wan of doing it on purpose. Lu Xun coolly retorted, "You said I couldn't buy it for Lin Wan, but you didn't say I couldn't buy it for anyone else."

He then bought the dress, and Lin Wan presented it to a stunned Liu Yan as a gift. Not to be outdone, Liu Mo then gave Liu Yan a necklace, declaring that every day with her felt like Valentine's Day. Determined not to be outdone, Lin Wan covertly instructed Lu Xun to quickly buy a ring from a nearby store, promising to reimburse him. To her surprise, Lu Xun already had one, claiming it was a freebie.

Upon learning it cost ninety yuan, Lin Wan jokingly complained about the price but agreed to pay him back. With the ring on her finger, Lin Wan loudly announced for the cameras that President Lu had insisted on giving her a ring "for fun." Liu Yan, noticing that her and Liu Mo's relationship was trending online, taunted the "Lin Lu Couple," calling them "old news."

Lin Wan then challenged Liu Yan, asking when she and Liu Mo had gotten together, implying it was a sudden decision. Liu Yan proudly stated that Liu Mo had confessed to her just yesterday. Lin Wan feigned shock, questioning the quickness of their relationship. Liu Yan, escalating, claimed they had been dating for two weeks and were ready to meet parents. Lin Wan swiftly countered, "We've already met the parents." Liu Yan raised the stakes further, saying they were ready to live together. With a final, astonishing declaration that left Liu Yan speechless, Lin Wan revealed, "We're already living together."

Episode 13 Recap

After Lin Chen publicly announced that she was living with Lu Xun, the news immediately stirred up a lively discussion among the onlookers. Lu Xun himself merely smiled, then stepped forward, took Lin Chen's hand, and confirmed their cohabitation. The crowd responded with enthusiastic applause. However, Liu Yan, witnessing Lin Chen's moment in the spotlight, felt increasingly resentful. Later, when no one else was around, she confided in her partner about her strong jealousy towards Lin Chen.

To her surprise, her partner earnestly confessed his genuine feelings for her and expressed a desire to seriously date her. Liu Yan, however, brushed off his sentiments, making it clear that romantic attachments were secondary to her ambition of achieving greater fame and popularity. Outside, the paparazzi had intensified their surveillance. Jiao Jie informed Lin Chen and Lu Xun that there were at least three paparazzi teams still watching.

She explained that while the paparazzi couldn't verify if they had met each other's parents, they would definitely focus on their living situation. Therefore, Jiao Jie proposed that Lin Chen and Lu Xun continue their fabricated cohabitation for the cameras. At Lin Chen's plea, Lu Xun agreed to go along with the plan.

Jiao Jie further clarified that the updated "Mock Couple Contract" outlined their status as a cohabiting couple for half a month, after which their popularity would naturally decline, leading to a "breakup." Lin Chen, concerned about the agreed-upon reward, mentioned she only had 115,000 and would need to pay in installments. Lu Xun then offered a condition: if she agreed, he would waive the reward.

His condition was that, starting that day, she would not go out alone for any reason other than necessary filming. If she wished to leave, she must inform him and always be accompanied, or she would incur the 115,000 penalty. Lin Chen readily accepted. Jiao Jie then mentioned that after a day off tomorrow, there would be filming at Jiangbei University the day after. Lin Chen then pulled Jiao Jie aside, protesting about the filming schedule.

She revealed that she had two exams the day after tomorrow, along with a practical exam the following day, and feared she wouldn't graduate if absent. She asked for a day off from the show. Jiao Jie, however, cautioned against it, explaining that taking time off would appear suspicious given the paparazzi's intense focus on her.

Instead, Jiao Jie devised a plan: since Lin Chen would already be at Jiangbei University for filming, she would find a way for Lin Chen to discreetly slip away for her exams, ensuring both commitments could be met without raising suspicion. Lin Chen then mentioned her desire to visit Lin Wan on her day off tomorrow, which Jiao Jie approved, strictly warning her not to let Lu Xun find out.

The next day, as Lin Chen prepared to leave, Lu Xun intercepted her. He asked where she was going, and she fabricated an excuse about having caught a cold and needing to go to the hospital. Lu Xun insisted on taking her, reminding her of the contract clause about being accompanied and jokingly asking if she preferred to pay the penalty in cash or via transfer.

He reassured her that he would only drop her off and not get out of the car, especially with paparazzi still lurking outside. Lin Chen reluctantly agreed. Later, at the hospital, Lin Chen and Jiao Jie were in Lin Wan's room. Jiao Jie confirmed that Lu Xun had indeed brought Lin Chen but hadn't suspected anything. Lin Chen, observing Lin Wan's emaciated state, reiterated her determination to successfully complete the dating show to secure Lin Wan's future.

While looking at a glass, Lin Chen began to suspect that someone might have targeted her but mistakenly harmed Lin Wan instead. Jiao Jie dismissed her worries, questioning why Lin Chen would have so many enemies. Lin Chen started recounting old grievances, causing Jiao Jie to become exasperated. Lin Chen then excused herself to use the restroom.

Outside the room, Lu Xun, who had been waiting nearby, spotted Liu Yan and her partner arriving to investigate a tip they had received about Lin Wan. Lu Xun quickly found Lin Chen and warned her, advising her to stay put while he went to distract Liu Yan. He confronted Liu Yan, attempting to appear busy and important as the vice president of SW.

Jiao Jie then emerged from Lin Wan's room and joined the argument, making the bizarre, sarcastic claim that she was there to care for her "soon-to-be-paralyzed boyfriend." Liu Yan retorted, questioning Jiao Jie's own popularity and freedom. As the argument continued, Lin Chen appeared, still in character as Lin Wan. Liu Yan was surprised to see her.

As he looked at Lin Chen, Lu Xun's gaze shifted past her to the open hospital room door, where he saw the real Lin Wan lying in her bed. The real Lin Wan then spoke, confirming, "This is my younger sister, Lin Chen." A staff member announced that visiting hours were over, and as they were asked to leave, Liu Yan, finally piecing together the truth, stared in disbelief. " Oh, she is Lin Wan," she said, looking at the bed, "Then you are. . ."

Episode 14 Recap

Lin Chen continued to impersonate her sister Lin Wan at the hospital when a nurse recognized her from high school, and Lu Xun overheard their conversation. Lin Chen awkwardly greeted her old classmate to defuse the situation. Later, in Lu Xun's car, he reminded her that he hadn't forgotten what she did when they were younger, implying that he was very vengeful.

When they got back, Lin Chen explained that if she didn't impersonate Lin Wan, her sister would be suspended or have to pay a penalty. She asked him to keep her secret and reassured him that it would only be for half a month. Later, Lu Xun saw Lin Chen reading a fan fiction about them where he supposedly pinned "Miss Lin" onto the bed and asked if she wanted a taste of him.

Lin Chen insisted that Meng Jiao had sent it to her and that the story wasn't true. The next day, Lin Chen returned to Jiangbei University to take an exam. She told her director that she needed to see the campus doctor for two hours because she wasn't feeling well. A security guard questioned her attire at the entrance but allowed her to pass after she showed her student ID.

Inside, a classmate asked where she had been recently and mentioned that Lin Wan looked exactly like her, asking if she had a twin sister who is a celebrity. Lin Chen admitted that Lin Wan was her elder sister. After the exam, Lin Chen rushed out of the classroom but was surrounded by classmates eager to know more about her sister and Lu Xun.

They asked if their relationship was real and if they could take a photo with Lin Wan, especially since the filming crew was on campus. Lin Chen made an excuse about needing the restroom to escape. She ran into the restroom to hide. While Lin Wan was away, the crew hurried to finish filming. Lin Chen, still trying to avoid her classmates, suddenly claimed to have an allergic reaction and said that she couldn't continue filming that day.

As she tried to leave, her classmates followed, wanting to go with her to the hospital, but Lin Chen refused. She hid in a restroom, but Liu Yan found her, asking why she was hiding there instead of seeing a doctor. Lin Chen said that she had messed up her makeup. Suddenly, Lin Chen's allergic reaction started to kick in.

Lu Xun arrived, claiming that Lin Wan had asked him to come pick her up because she was having an allergic reaction. He grabbed her purse and took out two tablets but realized there was no water. He then kissed Lin Chen, and when Liu Yan questioned whether she was Lin Wan or Lin Chen, Lu Xun declared that she was his girlfriend Lin Wan.

Episode 15 Recap

As Liu Yan stood, attempting to confirm if the person before her was Lin Chen or Lin Wan, Lin Chen abruptly rose, facing Liu Yan defiantly. Lin Chen asked what Liu Yan wanted to see, then questioned why she seemed to appear everywhere.

She taunted Liu Yan about her sister possibly being at the university, claiming to have informed her sister of all Liu Yan's actions and warning that her sister was not as kind as she was, asking if Liu Yan still wished to meet her. Finally, Lin Chen bluntly told Liu Yan to focus on filming her own show. With that, Liu Yan was led away.

After Liu Yan and her companion departed, Lu Xun chastised Lin Chen, expressing concern over the dangerous situation she had put herself in, especially knowing about her allergy. However, Lin Chen was barely listening, her mind replaying the moment Lu Xun had kissed her. Noticing her distraction, Lu Xun quickly softened his tone, offering to escort her back. Lin Chen declined, stating she had another exam, to which Lu Xun offered to wait.

She refused again, mentioning that Meng Jiao would pick her up. Later, Lin Chen confided in Meng Jiao, admitting that she believed she had fallen for Lu Xun. Meng Jiao reacted with exasperation, reminding Lin Chen of their upcoming meet-and-greet and the need to decide on her outfit, questioning how Lin Chen could fall for her childhood crush again after six years. Meng Jiao advised Lin Chen to directly confront Lu Xun about her feelings.

Lin Chen was hesitant, recalling a previous rejection and expressing her embarrassment, especially with their contract still in effect, requiring them to live in the same house. Meng Jiao then suggested testing Lu Xun first to gauge his interest before confessing, explaining that confessing was like fighting; one must land a hit before shouting their move to win. Lin Chen agreed, asking how to test him.

Meanwhile, Lu Xun's friend, after learning Lin Chen was angry with Lu Xun, suggested using fan fiction tropes to win her back, highlighting "three criterions" from stories written by their fans. The friend showed Lu Xun a fan fiction about him making Lin Chen angry and then successfully persuading her. Lu Xun, though initially dismissive of reading such "nonsense," later tried to apply these methods during Lin Chen's attempts to test his feelings.

When Lin Chen prepared dinner, aiming for an intimate moment by asking him to tie her hair, Lu Xun simply provided a rubber band and later told her to eat on her own, failing to follow the script of a caring gesture. Lin Chen also deliberately slipped her lingerie into Lu Xun's clothes.

Upon finding it, Lu Xun blushed, but when Lin Chen asked if he had anything to say, he only awkwardly suggested he might have misplaced his own clothes and mixed them with hers. During an outfit trial for the meet-and-greet, Lu Xun, following the third criterion to "go along with her" and "not have a different opinion," simply agreed that every outfit, including a sexy dress, "looked good," even while silently thinking otherwise or visibly appearing jealous.

Lin Chen later confronted Lu Xun, telling him not to mention fan fiction anymore and revealing how embarrassed she had been by his awkward attempts. She expressed that his efforts had been a "complete defeat," confirming that his good intentions had backfired, making her angry and embarrassed. Later, at a program meet-and-greet for the "Three Day Lovers" show, reporters questioned Lin Chen about her relationship with Lin Wan and if Liu Yan had asked about her identity that day.

Lin Chen denied it. The event then introduced the "Double Liu Couple," Liu Yan and Liu Mo, followed by the "Lin Lu Couple," Lin Wan and Lu Xun. As Lin Chen, appearing as Lin Wan, greeted the audience, Liu Yan interrupted, demanding to ask a question. She then directly challenged Lin Chen, asking, "Are you really Lin Wan?" This public accusation was fueled by Liu Yan's earlier discovery at the hospital that the true Lin Wan was incapacitated and lying in a coma.

Episode 16 Recap

At a fan meet-and-greet, just as Lin Chen is introducing herself as Lin Wan, Liu Yan abruptly interrupts, demanding to know if she is truly Lin Wan. Cornered, Lin Chen retorts defiantly. Liu Yan then addresses the stunned audience, revealing her suspicion that Lin Wan has an identical twin sister named Lin Chen.

She claims that the real Lin Wan was hospitalized after an accident on the first day of filming, and that Lin Chen has been impersonating her ever since to keep the show going. Lu Xun stands up to defend Lin Chen, warning Liu Yan about the consequences of public slander. Unfazed, Liu Yan projects a video onto the big screen showing the real Lin Wan lying unconscious in a hospital bed.

She challenges Lin Chen to prove her identity by making a live video call to her supposedly comatose sister. The audience, now in an uproar, begins chanting for her to make the call. Under immense pressure, Lin Chen makes the call, which is displayed on the screen for everyone to see. To Liu Yan's disbelief, the call connects to a woman who looks exactly like Lin Chen. A flashback reveals this was a contingency plan devised by Lu Xun.

Anticipating that Liu Yan would try to expose them, he had Lin Chen pre-record a video call, carefully timing the scripted conversation to appear live. Onstage, Lin Chen successfully plays her part, engaging in the scripted back-and-forth conversation before quickly ending the call, leaving Liu Yan momentarily defeated and confused. Just as the crisis seems averted, Liu Yan receives a message from an unknown number containing a picture of a "Mock Couple Contract" signed by Lu Xun and Lin Wan.

She immediately displays it on the screen, creating a new wave of chaos. Liu Yan reads from the contract, explaining to the furious fans that their beloved couple was a sham from the start—a business arrangement for Lin Wan to gain fame and for Lu Xun to promote his hotel. The situation spirals out of control as news of the contract spreads online, damaging the reputation of Lu Xun's company.

His PR team advises him to remain silent, but Lu Xun decides to face the crowd. He walks back to the stage and takes the microphone, stunning everyone by admitting that the contract is real. He explains that they initially signed it to protect their mutual interests for a show centered on fake relationships. However, he continues, the contract couldn't contain their genuine feelings for one another, and their fake relationship became real. To prove his sincerity and give everyone a definitive answer, Lu Xun turns to a shocked Lin Chen and publicly proposes, asking her if she will become Mrs. Lu.

Episode 17 Recap

Upon seeing the unfolding scene, Lin Chen was stunned. Facing numerous media outlets, she awkwardly responded to Lu Xun's question and agreed to become his wife. Liu Yan continued to challenge them, questioning if Lu Xun was taking fans for fools and demanding why they should believe in love over a contractual agreement. Lu Xun firmly countered by taking Lin Chen's hand, revealing the diamond ring he had given her.

He emphasized that as a businessman, he wouldn't simply gift a ring worth US$900,000 "for fun," effectively silencing Liu Yan and publicly humiliating her. Furious, Liu Yan returned to her room, shouting, "How dare you, Lin Wan!" Her manager quickly intervened, urging her to lower her voice and refrain from posting on social media. Liu Yan then received a call from an unknown number.

Believing the caller was the person who had advised her earlier and was now conspiring with Lin Wan, she angrily accused him of setting a trap to embarrass her before abruptly hanging up. Just then, the man himself entered her room. When she threatened to call the police, the man unnervingly mentioned a mole on her chest, hinting at a shared, dark past.

He reminded her of an unforgettable night from six years prior and revealed he possessed numerous incriminating photographs of her. He then coerced Liu Yan into a new plan: invite Lu Xun out and falsely accuse him of assault within three days. When Liu Yan refused, the man pressured her further, revealing that "Liu Yan" was not her real name and that he held the secrets of her "most dreadful past."

As a final, twisted revelation, he told her that Lin Chen, whom she had been antagonizing, was the one who had saved her years ago. Meanwhile, a reporter persisted in questioning Lu Xun, arguing that the engagement didn't prove he hadn't lied. Lu Xun announced that their official engagement would take place in three days, with SW broadcasting the event and inviting selected media for questions.

He instructed Lin Chen to go home and wait for him, then tasked his assistant with arranging her transport and compiling a list of all media present. Immediately after, Lu Xun began investigating the mysterious man. Deducing the man must have used a company pass to access the private lift without being on any official lists, he inquired about new staff hired in the last three months.

His suspicions were later confirmed when human resources reported that the man's information was all fake. Lu Xun then communicated with the mysterious man, warning him, "If you dare touch her, I will not let you leave Jiangbei alive." Unfazed, the man taunted Lu Xun for his panic, boasting that his fake identity made him untraceable and that his plans were "just getting started."

While Lu Xun was investigating, the mysterious man impersonated a driver sent by "Vice President Lu" and drove Lin Chen home. Upon reuniting with Lin Chen later, Lu Xun immediately embraced her. Sensing his unusual behavior, Lin Chen privately pondered if Lu Xun might truly be in love with her, especially after he gave her such an expensive ring.

However, recalling a past high school confession of hers that was rejected, she was advised by her friend to subtly ascertain Lu Xun's true feelings and wait for him to declare his love first. Lu Xun was also advised against an impulsive confession. Both decide to continue testing each other's true intentions.

Episode 18 Recap

Following Sister Jiao's guidance, Lin Chen carefully prepared herself, wearing a beautiful outfit and holding a vibrant bouquet of roses. She then posted a vague update on her social media, intending to subtly hint at Lu Xun. Upon seeing the post, Lu Xun nearly called her but managed to restrain himself. Both of them, despite their inner turmoil, maintained a calm demeanor. Later, when Lin Chen met Lu Xun, Sister Jiao prompted her with another plan.

Lin Chen attempted to create physical contact, but her efforts were awkward and unsuccessful. She then asked Lu Xun to be her practice partner for an audition script. During the rehearsal of a scene where one character wishes to be a koala, Lu Xun reads the line, "Then I'll be the tree next to you," but deliberately skips the follow-up: "Because I love you."

Seizing the moment, Sister Jiao claimed an urgent company matter had arisen and maneuvered Lu Xun's assistant into leaving with her, successfully engineering a private moment for the couple. Left alone, Lin Chen playfully called Lu Xun a "tyrant boss," which he embraced, boasting about his looks, wealth (despite a frozen credit card), and domineering nature. Lin Chen countered that he was arrogant, narcissistic, and a coward, giving tyrant bosses new characteristics.

Just as Lin Chen pressed him to read the script line again, Lu Xun received a call. An employee informed him that the dating show had terminated its contract with Liu Yan, and a new artist would join that evening. With this news, Lu Xun abruptly told Lin Chen that something had come up and she could practice by herself, then quickly left. Meanwhile, Liu Yan had ceased all her work and sat alone, looking haggard and drinking heavily.

Her agent advised her to go easy on the alcohol and mentioned the company had offered her a vacation. The agent promised to return after accompanying another artist, Feifei, for filming, also urging Liu Yan to stop taking sleeping pills. As the agent left, Liu Yan muttered to herself about the return of someone from six years ago. When Lu Xun arrived, Liu Yan questioned if he was there to worsen her situation.

Lu Xun asked if she knew where a certain man lived or had any information about him. Liu Yan mentioned the name Zhang Ping and warned Lu Xun to stay away from him, alluding to her own traumatic past. Lu Xun insisted she provide any information she had. Liu Yan then asked about Lin Chen.

Lu Xun confirmed that he knew Lin Chen's true identity and assured Liu Yan he would not reveal her secret, but also firmly stated that Liu Yan would never have another chance to get close to Lin Chen. Separately, Lin Chen received a message from Zheng Ziyan, who soon arrived, affectionately calling her "Little kitty" and revealing he had brought the stray cat they encountered at the barbecue stall. He playfully joked with the cat about needing to be spayed.

Zheng Ziyan then asked Lin Chen if her engagement to Lu Xun was real or just part of a contract. Lin Chen confirmed the engagement but implied it was contract-based, to which Zheng Ziyan reminded her that after her act, she would still need to return to being Lin Chen.

He then showed her a location, declaring it would be her veterinary hospital, part of their long-standing plan for him to open a dental clinic next door and "conquer Jiangbei together." Lin Chen found the idea reliable but worried about the high cost. Finally, Zheng Ziyan, after some hesitation, confessed to Lin Chen that there was someone he had always loved.

Episode 19 Recap

Zheng Ziyan confided in Lin Chen about a long-held secret: he has been deeply in love with a girl since high school, a fact she remains completely oblivious to. He explained his reluctance to confess, fearing that a declaration of love would not only jeopardize their friendship but also erase his presence from her life. Therefore, he meticulously guarded his feelings, dreading the possibility of an early, unfavorable answer.

He even revealed that he had purchased a shop with the intention of running it with her someday. Lin Chen, however, was more surprised by Zheng Ziyan's financial capacity to buy a shop so soon after starting his career, jokingly asking if she should have pursued dentistry instead.

As Zheng Ziyan prepared to elaborate further, Lin Chen playfully tried to guess the girl's identity, mentioning Du Xiaojing and Lin Yumeng, prompting Zheng Ziyan to hint that the person was someone she might not expect. At that moment, Lu Xun unexpectedly arrived at the clinic. When questioned by Lin Chen about his presence, Lu Xun claimed he had a toothache and had merely stopped by, feigning ignorance that it was Zheng Ziyan's clinic.

Zheng Ziyan, however, saw through his pretense and openly accused him of having ulterior motives. Despite the underlying tension, the three found themselves sharing drinks. A business associate, President Zhang, briefly joined them, leading to a competitive display between Lu Xun and Zheng Ziyan as they vied to toast on Lin Chen's behalf.

During their exchange, Zheng Ziyan sarcastically remarked on Lu Xun's supposed toothache, while Lu Xun retorted by reminding him that the property housing Zheng Ziyan's clinic was owned by SW, Lu Xun's company. The drinking escalated into a rivalry, and soon both Lu Xun and Zheng Ziyan were visibly inebriated. Lin Chen noticed their heavy drinking and offered to get them water, but Lu Xun stopped her, insisting he had something crucial to tell her.

Zheng Ziyan immediately intervened, attempting to lead Lin Chen away and challenging Lu Xun's right to detain her. Amidst the rising emotions, Lu Xun, under the influence of alcohol, began to reveal his long-hidden feelings to Lin Chen. He spoke of their impending engagement ceremony, acknowledging that it felt like a grand facade. He expressed his confusion over a blank letter sent six years prior and, in a moment of raw vulnerability, asked Lin Chen to hate him.

He confessed his fear of seeking answers, worried that the truth might shatter all his carefully constructed excuses. He admitted his strategy was to slowly draw closer to her, perpetually delaying what might truly happen between them, all because he was terrified that her love might not mirror the intensity of his own. As they were about to leave, Lu Xun forcefully kissed Lin Chen.

Immediately following the kiss, in a perplexing turn, he uttered, "I'm sorry, I really don't love you." With Zheng Ziyan having stepped away, Lin Chen dismissed Lu Xun's contradictory statement. She then pressed him about the blank letter he had mentioned, to which Lu Xun confirmed it had indeed been empty. Finding his actions foolish, Lin Chen remarked on his absurdity.

Lu Xun explained that his outburst was because he believed he had finally received his answer—that the person she truly loved was not him. Lin Chen, however, admitted that seeing Lu Xun's "silly expression" had been quite satisfying. Zheng Ziyan then reappeared, surprised to find Lu Xun still there and offering to "give them a hand."

He attempted to confess his feelings to Lin Chen, but both Lin Chen and Lu Xun immediately cut him off, telling him not to speak. The scene concludes with a series of flashbacks depicting Lu Xun and Lin Chen's earliest interactions, including their first meeting, his clumsy attempt to ask her to a movie, and her offering him a cake.

Episode 20 Recap

After Lu Xun's forceful kiss, Lin Chen confronted him, asking if it was his first confession. Lu Xun stated that it was not. Lin Chen pressed him, questioning how he could kiss her yet claim it wasn't his first confession, to which Lu Xun confirmed. Lin Chen became visibly angry. Soon after, Meng Jiao, who had stumbled earlier, quickly recovered and joined Lin Chen in confronting the two young men.

Later, Lu Xun's friend noted that both Meng Jiao and "Little Lin" (Lin Chen) did not seem to love them. He prompted Lu Xun to recall why Lin Chen was angry, reminding him that Lu Xun had stated it wasn't his first confession, although it was true. The friend pointed out that Lin Chen hitting Lu Xun after the kiss indicated she did not love him.

The friend then lamented his own situation, explaining that Meng Jiao was angry with him because he had accidentally kissed her the previous day and then confusedly tried to explain it away. Convinced Lin Chen now hated him, Lu Xun hesitated to ask her directly. His friend encouraged him to be brave, also reminding him of the special engagement episode scheduled for that night.

Lu Xun, spurred on, got up to go after Lin Chen, but his friend called out, asking where he was going. Meng Jiao intervened, stating that Lin Chen had a packed schedule and needed to return to the university for her final exams. Lu Xun offered to drive them, but Meng Jiao politely declined, emphasizing their professional relationship. She asserted that they were merely business associates and should maintain a private distance.

When Lu Xun mentioned their engagement that evening, Meng Jiao assured him that they would uphold all contractual obligations and "put on this act" until the contract concluded. As Lin Chen and Meng Jiao drove away, Lin Chen fumed, complaining that no one from the Lu family was good. Meng Jiao teasingly brought up Lu Feng.

Meng Jiao then instructed Lin Chen to avoid being recognized by classmates at the university and to come out immediately after her exam, as they had filming scheduled for the evening. Lin Chen acknowledged the instructions. At the engagement press conference for Lu Xun and Lin Chen, Lu Xun's manager informed him that he needed to perform well, suggesting he still had a chance with Lin Chen. Lu Xun declared his intention to confess.

His friend, however, cynically observed that Lu Xun was deliberately choosing to confess in front of many people, believing that Lin Chen wouldn't publicly reject him, thus giving him another chance. The friend branded Lu Xun a "scum." Suddenly, Lu Xun was accosted by an unidentified man who lured him into a hotel room. Inside, the man tried to ply Lu Xun with drugged wine, which Lu Xun cautiously refused.

After Lu Xun tried to call security, the man revealed that Lin Chen was trapped in the university's cold storage, where humans could only survive at -20°C for about 20 minutes. He then laid out his plan: Lu Xun would be drugged with a sedative, and upon waking, framed for molesting a woman named Liu Yan. The man presented Lu Xun with two choices: accept the charges or let Lin Chen die.

He taunted Lu Xun to sacrifice himself, but Lu Xun retorted that he would not make the choice the man wanted him to. The man challenged Lu Xun's ability to save Lin Chen in time, but after he left, Lu Xun successfully escaped. Having escaped, Lu Xun immediately called his assistant, urgently instructing them to send security to the university's freezer, explaining that Lin Chen was locked inside. At the university, the cold storage temperature displayed -19°C.

Lu Xun arrived, demanding the keys. Someone pointed him towards Lin Chen's location at the very end of the storage unit. As Lu Xun tried to force his way in, staff members restrained him, threatening to call the police. Lu Xun desperately called out Lin Chen's name. Inside, Lin Chen was shivering before she collapsed, spotting someone as she fell.

Episode 21 Recap

When Lu Xun rushed to the scene, he immediately draped his own coat over Lin Chen and took her away without hesitation. After being rescued, Lin Chen gradually recovered. When asked about her ordeal, she revealed that someone had deliberately pushed her into the cold storage, an admission that instantly put both Lu Xun and their companion on high alert.

Her companion expressed relief that Lu Xun arrived when he did, detailing how he forcefully smashed the lock of the electricity meter box before pulling the door open and rushing in. Lin Chen was surprised to see such a dedicated side of him. Meanwhile, Lu Xun sought out the doctor who had harmed Lin Chen.

He confronted the doctor about acting on Zhang Ping's instructions, noting that Zhang Ping appeared to be dead and had simply used the doctor to do her dirty work. Lu Xun advised the doctor to cooperate with the police, threatening to sue but offering leniency if the doctor confessed Zhang Ping's involvement. Back with Lin Chen, she noticed Lu Xun's injured hand and, despite his dismissal of it as a minor cut, she observed it was a deep, knife-like wound.

She insisted he sit down and scolded him for neglecting such an injury, warning of infection. Lu Xun admitted he was in a hurry. Lin Chen then pressed him, asking if he was so desperate to find her that he disregarded his own injury. She then directly asked him if he loved her. Lu Xun, in turn, asked if she cared about his love because she loved him.

Their playful exchange about spiked heart rates and red faces was cut short when Lu Xun reminded her they were already late for the "Confess Your Love" program. He warned her about trending rumors claiming their "Lin Lu Couple" was fake and that their engagement might be called off, urging her to be careful with her words.

At the program's hosting site, reporters aggressively questioned the director about the delayed appearance of the "Lin Lu Couple" and whether their engagement was a mere act to cover up a contractual relationship. The director tried to calm the crowd and promised the couple's imminent arrival. When Lu Xun and Lin Chen finally appeared, the Q&A session began. Reporters questioned Lu Xun about his hand injury, which he deemed private, and asked why they were an hour late.

Lin Chen stepped in, stating she hadn't been feeling well. Just as Lu Xun began to address the rumors about their engagement, another scene unfolded. Vice President Lu intercepted someone believed to be an accomplice, telling them their partner had been arrested and they must stay until the police arrived, as they were also connected to the incident. The accomplice, however, seemed unfazed, wanting to witness the "best show" yet.

Back on stage, a reporter asked Lu Xun why he had been in Liu Yan's room earlier, noting her contentious relationship with Lin Wan. Lu Xun claimed they had a private matter to discuss, offering no further comment. The reporter then suggested asking Liu Yan directly. Soon after, chaos erupted as people discovered Liu Yan unconscious in a room. Panic ensued, with cries that Liu Yan was dead.

Reporters immediately swarmed Lu Xun, demanding answers as the last person to see her. They questioned him about Liu Yan's alleged suicide and what words were found on her laptop. Lu Xun expressed regret for Liu Yan's death and stated his company would cooperate with the investigation, but offered no further comment.

Amid the commotion, a recording was played, featuring Liu Yan's voice, emotionally asking why the person who raped her six years ago had returned and why she couldn't escape them. Reporters immediately connected this to Lu Xun, bringing up online leaks about Liu Yan's high school history at No. 47 High School and a past rape accusation, directly asking Lu Xun if he was the perpetrator. As the reporters relentlessly pressed him, Lin Chen stepped forward, shouting, "No!

It wasn't him! Lu Xun wasn't even there!" When a reporter scoffed, claiming Lin Chen wasn't present during high school and was just defending Lu Xun, she defiantly declared, "I was right there. I'm not Lin Wan, I'm Lin Chen." She revealed her true identity, stepping up to testify on Lu Xun's behalf.

Episode 22 Recap

Lin Chen stood before the public, confessing her true identity. " I'm not Lin Wan, I'm Lin Chen," she declared. She admitted to lying about her identity, explaining that her sister, Lin Wan, was in a coma and knew nothing of it. Taking full responsibility for her deception, Lin Chen then fervently defended Lu Xun regarding the six-year-old incident, asserting, "I'm sure he wasn't Lu Xun. Lu Xun wasn't even there."

However, a photograph suddenly appeared on the large screen, showing Lu Xun at the scene. Journalists immediately pressed him, asking if he was there. Lu Xun confirmed, "Yes, I was." He clarified that he was the one who reported the incident and was absolutely not the perpetrator, stating that this was documented and the authorities would release a statement to clear everything up. Despite their explanations, the public was enraged and refused to believe them.

They accused Lin Chen of being a liar and demanded she take responsibility for Liu Yan's death, shouting for both her and Lu Xun to be held accountable. Amidst the uproar, Lu Xun's assistant informed him that the board of directors requested his presence. Lu Xun quickly instructed his assistant to take Lin Chen away via his private elevator and head to Meng Jiao's home, emphasizing that it wasn't safe anywhere else and urging her not to worry.

Later, in the underground garage, Lin Chen received an unsettling message and turned to discover the man who had raped her six years ago. She immediately accused him of setting up Lu Xun, which he readily admitted. Confronting him, Lin Chen recounted her past trauma, revealing that she had tried to commit suicide sixteen times in the month following the attack and had relied on sleeping pills ever since.

She would not be threatened again, she declared, and intended to call the police. The man, unfazed, dared her to, knowing she feared her past and photographs being exposed, which would shatter her glamorous image. He then chillingly revealed that Liu Yan was mentally weak and had committed suicide, denying any direct involvement but implying he had manipulated events to cause her death. Meanwhile, Lu Xun was in a heated board meeting.

His colleagues advised him to issue an announcement claiming he was unaware of Lin Chen's identity and was also a victim, and to shift the blame for Liu Yan's death onto Lin Chen. Lu Xun vehemently refused. Despite warnings about the company's stock price, he announced his resignation, stating, "This is my own choice, I will bear the consequences myself."

He insisted he would not allow anyone in SW to be implicated because of him and named Lu Feng as his successor. Back with Lin Chen, the man continued his sinister monologue. He revealed it didn't matter if Lu Xun drank the drugged wine, as long as Lin Chen did, alluding to her habit of taking sleeping pills.

As Lin Chen began to feel disoriented, he detailed his entire scheme: by testifying, Lin Chen would expose her faked identity, making her appear as a greedy, vain liar. Simultaneously, Lu Xun, having been involved in the incident six years ago and being the last person to enter Liu Yan's room, would be perceived as the final push that led to her suicide.

He gloated that no one would believe Lin Chen's testimony, and Lu Xun would become a suspect, unable to protect her. He dismissed the truth, arguing that the public only cares about headlines and would forever brand them a liar and a scumbag, ruined even if not legally charged. This, he declared, was the price Lu Xun had to pay.

However, Lin Chen fearlessly retorted that she was not afraid, as they had done nothing wrong, and warned him that he would ultimately pay for his actions. As Meng Jiao and others rushed to find Lin Chen, Lin Chen immediately expressed her concern for Lu Xun.

In an intercut phone call with Lu Xun, Meng Jiao urged him not to act impulsively and relayed critical updates: Zhang Ping had escaped amid the chaos, and all the hotel's surveillance footage had been overwritten, leaving no evidence of him entering or leaving Liu Yan's room. Outside, the public relentlessly accused Lu Xun and Lin Chen. Amidst the pandemonium, Lin Chen found Lu Xun.

As he began to speak, she interrupted, correctly guessing he might try to push her away to protect her. She called it an "old-fashioned act," and he admitted he was worried she would do the same. They embraced, and Lin Chen affirmed, "Lu Xun, no matter what happens, I will face it with you together." He responded, "Okay, we'll do it together."

Episode 23 Recap

The online backlash against Lin Chen and Lu Xun intensified, with social media filled with hashtags like "#LinChenTheMurderer" and accusations that they were taking advantage of Liu Yan's death. People claimed Liu Yan spoke the truth but was driven to death by them, demanding justice. Amidst this, Lin Chen and Lu Xun discovered their phone numbers had been leaked. Shortly after, sasaeng fans infiltrated Lu Xun's building, attempting to enter his private elevator.

Jiao Jie confronted them, warning them that damaging property was a criminal offense, while the fans shouted accusations that Lin Chen and Lu Xun were murderers. Jiao Jie and her team managed to deter them, but not without some commotion. Lu Xun's friend arrived, concerned about Lu Xun's well-being and noticing his clothes were damaged from the recent encounter.

He revealed he had brought a birthday cake, hoping a celebration might turn their luck around, even though Lu Xun rarely celebrated his birthday. However, the cake was damaged during the earlier incident. Lin Chen offered to make birthday noodles, and Jiao Jie suggested cooking with ingredients they had at home. Lu Xun's friend salvaged what he could, mentioning they still had candles.

When Jiao Jie and Lu Xun's friend proposed going out for supplies while Lin Chen and Lu Xun stayed home for safety, Lin Chen objected. She insisted they shouldn't hide, especially since Lu Xun had done nothing wrong. She took responsibility for impersonating Lin Wan and lying, stating she should bear the consequences, and defiantly declared that the "bad guy" should be the one to be afraid, not them.

She asked Lu Xun for his opinion, and he agreed, saying the birthday plan sounded good and things might not be so bad. Lin Chen and Lu Xun then went to a restaurant. Lin Chen presented Lu Xun with a birthday cake and roses, but the cake had "Happy Death Day" written on it. Lin Chen tried to light the candles and encouraged Lu Xun to make a wish, but no one in the restaurant would lend them a lighter.

When Lu Xun found a bug in their food, he confronted the manager. The manager, however, was openly hostile, stating they were not welcome and telling them to leave, which was met with applause from other patrons. Disheartened, Lu Xun and Lin Chen left the restaurant.

Feeling the day's events were insurmountable, Lu Xun remarked that it seemed impossible to celebrate his birthday without hiccups and suggested calling Meng Jiao for food, conceding that going out had been a bad idea. Despite this, Lin Chen bought a roasted sweet potato from a street vendor and borrowed a lighter to place a small candle on it, wishing Lu Xun a happy birthday.

Lu Xun, looking at Lin Chen, said he had no wish because it had already come true, implying she was his wish. Just then, Lin Chen received a phone call about an unpaid express delivery from Liu Yan. Puzzled, Lin Chen accepted the package, which contained a voice message from Liu Yan.

In the message, Liu Yan confessed that she had always known a girl saved her six years ago but hadn't dared to look up, and now realized that person was Lin Chen. She apologized for her previous cowardice and for trying to forget the past, but revealed "he" (the killer) had reappeared, making her feel it was a punishment for running away.

She stated her plan to take a break abroad and thanked both Lin Chen and Lu Xun for their help. Realizing this was crucial evidence, Lu Xun instructed Lin Chen to wait at the entrance while he retrieved the car so they could immediately go to the police. As Lin Chen was giving directions to the nearest police station over the phone, the killer suddenly appeared, attacking her and telling her she would get hurt for meddling. Lin Chen fought back, demanding to know where Lu Xun was and what the killer had done to him.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

A stranger, Zhang Ping, bound Lin Chen in an abandoned basement, demanding the crucial evidence Liu Yan had left behind before her death. Zhang Ping didn't expect Liu Yan to leave a "ticking bomb." He pressed Lin Chen to reveal what was inside the evidence, but she cautioned him, urging him not to make further mistakes. Lin Chen then lied, claiming Liu Yan had prepared backups of the evidence years ago.

She questioned Zhang Ping's willingness to gamble with her words and reminded him that if the evidence, which included a recording of how Lu Xun and she had saved Liu Yan and a photograph, were exposed, he would pay for his actions against Liu Yan six years prior and his current deeds. Zhang Ping, angered, retorted with a curse.

Zhang Ping then made a phone call to Lu Xun, threatening Lin Chen's life if Lu Xun did not surrender the backup photo and video evidence. Lu Xun, deeply worried, pleaded with Zhang Ping not to harm Lin Chen. Lu Xun confirmed he had the backup but insisted on Lin Chen's safety. Zhang Ping warned him against any tricks, stating that calling the police would seal Lin Chen's fate.

Lu Xun quickly drove to the location for the exchange, carrying the evidence. Zhang Ping, wary, first demanded to see the item. Lu Xun insisted on Lin Chen's release first, but Zhang Ping refused, fearing a fake or other backups. Lu Xun then argued that he couldn't trust Zhang Ping to release Lin Chen as promised once the evidence was handed over. Seeing Lin Chen still tied, Lu Xun discreetly told her to "buy time."

Zhang Ping directed Lu Xun to a laptop, ordering him to play the evidence, threatening both their lives if he dared to lie. While Lu Xun prepared to play the file, Lin Chen playfully chided him for insisting she wait at the entrance earlier, which led to her capture. Lu Xun explained it was unexpected.

She then joked about not paying him for their "contract" if they survived, to which he firmly said "No," adding that he had resigned as president and needed to save money. Zhang Ping grew impatient and demanded they stop talking. Seizing the moment, Lu Xun confessed to Lin Chen that he had been in love with her since high school. Lin Chen acknowledged that she knew he had a crush.

Lu Xun elaborated that she didn't know he had written her a love letter, or that he used to linger after school just to take the same bus as her. He admitted that he had loved her even before she loved him, and while loving her brought him joy, it also made him a coward, fearing that six years would be too long, that she might forget him or fall out of love.

Zhang Ping interrupted, calling his words "sappy stories" and reiterating his demand for the evidence. Lu Xun then displayed a laptop screen, showing an empty folder. Zhang Ping snatched the device, examined a blank flash drive Lu Xun offered, and realized he had been tricked. Enraged, he attacked them, gravely injuring Lu Xun while protecting Lin Chen. Just then, the police stormed in, announcing their presence.

A defiant Zhang Ping claimed he was no longer the student from six years ago and that he had another backup, but the police apprehended him, informing him he was being taken into custody for investigation. Lin Chen rushed the gravely injured Lu Xun to the hospital. Upon regaining consciousness, Lu Xun playfully teased Lin Chen, asking if she had cried and pretending he had lost his memory, which made her cry again out of relief.

He then reaffirmed the truth of his earlier confession. Lin Chen asked if that meant he had confessed his love first, and he proudly confirmed it, stating his love for her since he was sixteen. Lin Chen reciprocated, saying "Me too." Later, Zheng Ziyan came to the hospital and called Lin Chen out of Lu Xun's room. Lu Xun, understanding, told Lin Chen to go.

Zheng Ziyan confessed his love for Lin Chen, revealing she was the person he had spoken about at the dental clinic. He recounted how he had loved her since high school but was afraid to confess, fearing it would ruin their friendship. Lin Chen, though touched, apologized, stating her love for Lu Xun.

Zheng Ziyan acknowledged her feelings but said he needed to express his own, declaring that he no longer wanted to be just her friend and that from now on, he would be simply a person who loved her. He then announced his departure abroad for training, asking her not to contact him, hoping they would both be well.

Back in the hospital room, Lin Chen questioned Lu Xun about his sudden "passion," to which he teased her, calling her "Mrs. Lu." He reminded her of their agreement to marry the next day. Lu Xun then sent her a voice file, which contained his past thoughts, expressing confusion about her old letter, why Zheng Ziyan had received something similar, and her past desire for him to hate her.

Later, after Lu Xun had recovered, Lin Chen found him in the shower, worried about his injury. He jokingly emerged, telling her that "Mrs. Lu" had forgotten what she needed to do. He then playfully lured her into the bathroom, teasing her about not being a gentleman during the daytime.

Interspersed with these moments were voiceovers, with Lin Chen reminiscing about walking by the field because she could see him on the rooftop, and Lu Xun's voiceover revealing he was always on the rooftop because she was always in the field. Finally, at their wedding, the officiant welcomed guests to the union of Lu Xun and Lin Chen. As Lin Chen walked down the aisle, Lu Xun playfully asked if she intended to leave him at the altar.

He then expressed a sudden desire to know what was written in the love letter she claimed to have written him in high school. Lin Chen feigned forgetting, then challenged him to reveal the contents of his own love letter to her first. Lu Xun produced the letter she had given him, which he had kept for years, and the crowd urged them to read. Lu Xun read Lin Chen's letter: "Dear Schoolmate Lu Xun. Nice to meet you.

I am Lin Chen from Year 3, Class 8. I've noticed you for a long time. Can you be my friend? I'm very good in my studies. We can get better at studies together." Then Lu Xun recited the contents of his letter, which simply asked if she wanted to go to a movie with him on Saturday. Lu Xun noted the letter didn't explicitly state his feelings.

He then took Lin Chen's hand, admitting they had delayed for too long and that he should have confessed his love much earlier. He kissed her, publicly declaring his deep and enduring love. (The End)
