Han Sen, still lingering, refused to leave. Lin Heping, undeterred, threatened that if Han Sen continued to cause trouble, no one would be able to help Zhu Fan. He told Han Sen to leave, asserting that he didn't want Qiao Man to develop any resentment towards him. Han Sen, angered by the threat, eventually departed.

Later, Ah Li, reflecting by a swimming pool, contemplated how she had learned to swim after Nan Sheng's death, constantly regretting her inability to save her sister. She was determined that Lin Heping would never learn the true circumstances of Nan Sheng's passing. Observing Lin Heping's deepening affection for Qiao Man, Ah Li resolved to drive a wedge between them. The next morning, Qiao Man arrived at the office with breakfast for her colleagues, who expressed their appreciation.

Coworkers began playfully teasing Qiao Man about Lin Heping, hinting at a romantic connection and mentioning that Lin Heping had arranged for her to live next to his apartment. Ah Li overheard their conversation and angrily confronted one of the gossiping colleagues, Zhang, ordering her to pack her belongings and leave immediately. Qiao Man attempted to intercede, but other colleagues advised her against it, explaining that Ah Li was using Zhang to make an example.

Meanwhile, Han Sen, treating Xiao Zhi like his personal assistant, instructed her to deliver flowers to Qiao Man. Xiao Zhi called Qiao Man, asking to meet at a cafe near her office. Upon meeting, Xiao Zhi complained about Han Sen's bossy behavior since he reconciled with An Kailun and took over Yi Pin Winery. She then presented Qiao Man with the flowers, stating they were from Han Sen. Qiao Man, annoyed by Han Sen's antics, initially refused to accept them.

Xiao Zhi, however, pleaded with her, mentioning her own embarrassment while carrying the flowers, and Qiao Man reluctantly accepted them. Upon arriving at the office, Lin Heping was informed by Mo Hui about the incident between Ah Li and Qiao Man that morning, specifically Ah Li firing Zhang. Lin Heping immediately confronted Ah Li, asking for her reasons. Ah Li, clearly jealous, rationalized her decision by citing company rules against informal gatherings during work hours.

Lin Heping pointed out that she hadn't been so strict before Qiao Man arrived, suggesting her actions were directed at Qiao Man. Ah Li accused him of being partial to Qiao Man because of her resemblance to Nan Sheng. Lin Heping countered that he hired Qiao Man to help salvage the company's losses and urged Ah Li to maintain professionalism. Ah Li, skeptical, declared she would wait and see how capable Qiao Man truly was in rescuing the company.

Back at Yi Pin, Han Sen questioned Xiao Zhi about the flower delivery. He was furious to learn she hadn't delivered the flowers directly to Qiao Man's office. Han Sen explicitly stated his intention was for everyone to see Qiao Man receiving flowers, thereby publicly announcing their relationship and sending a clear message to Lin Heping to stay away from "his woman." Xiao Zhi, refusing to be his errand girl, told him he could deliver his own flowers next time.

Later, Lin Heping sought out Qiao Man to apologize for Ah Li's behavior, assuring her that Zhang would not be fired. Qiao Man expressed her frustration, feeling targeted by Ah Li and considering leaving the company. Lin Heping tried to reassure her, explaining that his relationship with Ah Li was strictly professional, contrary to any rumors. Just then, Ah Li appeared and apologized to Qiao Man, admitting she was in a bad mood and had overreacted.

She reiterated that Zhang's dismissal was not final. Seeing Ah Li's apology, Lin Heping urged Qiao Man to stay. Believing she might have misunderstood Ah Li, Qiao Man decided to remain. That evening, as Qiao Man left work, Han Sen ambushed her, playfully putting sunglasses on her and announcing his plan for a romantic outing. Lin Heping observed this interaction from a distance, feeling a pang of pity for Qiao Man.

Yang Lan later questioned Ah Li about her decision to let Qiao Man stay and even apologize to her. Ah Li explained her strategy, stating that simply driving Qiao Man away would only lead to Lin Heping meeting her outside the office. By keeping Qiao Man in the company, especially as Qiao Man was designing a logo for them, Ah Li could keep a close eye on her. Yang Lan understood Ah Li's calculating move.

Han Sen took Qiao Man to his office for dinner, proudly demonstrating his newfound proficiency with chopsticks. He expressed his displeasure that Qiao Man hadn't informed him about her job at Liping Pavilion. Qiao Man dismissed his possessiveness, stating she didn't need to report her employment to him as he wasn't her father. Han Sen, however, declared himself her fiancé, asserting that she was "his girl" now and forever, and he wanted everyone to know it.

They continued their playful banter throughout the meal. Meanwhile, Yang Lan brought a cake to Ah Li's apartment, reminding her that it was Lin Heping's birthday. Realizing she had forgotten, Ah Li quickly changed into a nice outfit and hurried to Lin Heping's place, only to find his door locked. Unbeknownst to Ah Li, Lin Heping had taken Qiao Man out for a jog. They eventually arrived at a scenic spot with a beautiful night view of the city.

Lin Heping shared that he often came to this place when feeling down, finding solace in observing the countless illuminated homes and reflecting on the universal struggles people face. He apologized again for Ah Li's fiery temper, explaining that Ah Li wasn't a bad person and had been like a big sister to him, even helping him start his career when he graduated high school.

Qiao Man playfully teased him, saying she had once thought he was sponging off Ah Li. Qiao Man then expressed her wish to create her own "story" in the city, a sentiment Lin Heping heartily agreed with. Lin Heping, looking at Qiao Man, was momentarily lost in thought, remembering his first argument with Nan Sheng. He felt a deep internal conflict, the images of Nan Sheng and Qiao Man blurring, understanding that such confusion only led to deeper pain.

He questioned whether he should tell Qiao Man about Nan Sheng, knowing that no one could ever truly replace his sister in his heart. He recalled a flashback to Nan Sheng's younger years: Nan Sheng's mother rejoiced when Nan Sheng was accepted into university. Xu Zhen Sheng also secured a university spot with Ah Li's help. The three celebrated together with drinks, and Lin Heping was overjoyed for Nan Sheng. Later, he bought Nan Sheng a red dress.

Although they would remain in the same city, he knew their time together would become less frequent once she started university. During Nan Sheng's first day at university, Lin Heping accompanied her. They encountered Luo Chen, who was taking photos and inadvertently captured Nan Sheng in a shot. Lin Heping, displeased, confronted Luo Chen, leading to a heated argument. A teacher intervened, sternly banning Lin Heping from campus.

Nan Sheng, however, pleaded with the teacher, who reluctantly agreed to a compromise, allowing Lin Heping to visit if he promised not to fight again. In another flashback, Chen Yi Cheng, a persistent suitor, harassed Ah Li in the street. Lin Heping, witnessing the scene, stepped in to defend her. The situation escalated into a fight, and Lin Heping was taken to the police station.

He called Nan Sheng, who hurried to the station and angrily chastised Ah Li for getting Lin Heping involved in a fight. Ah Li, in turn, provocatively linked arms with Lin Heping, thanking him for his help, while Lin Heping tried to smooth things over. Afterward, Nan Sheng continued to scold Lin Heping for his lack of ambition and fighting. Lin Heping tried to defend himself but eventually relented, promising to change.

Nan Sheng, appeased, forgave him and gave him some books, urging him to study hard for his own future. Back in the present, Lin Heping looked troubled. Qiao Man, noticing his distress, asked what was wrong. Lin Heping revealed that he was sad because his sister had died. Qiao Man, intrigued, encouraged him to talk about it, but he decided it was a conversation for another time.

As Lin Heping and Qiao Man returned to their building, they encountered Ah Li. Qiao Man, sensing the tension, quickly went into her apartment. Ah Li was surprised to see Qiao Man. Lin Heping explained that Qiao Man was his new neighbor, living directly across the hall. Ah Li, feeling hurt and mocking her own forgotten gesture, sarcastically threw the birthday cake she had brought at Lin Heping before leaving in a huff.

At Yi Pin, An Kailun handed Han Sen a check for five million RMB, instructing him to have Qiao Man deliver it to Lin Heping. Han Sen vehemently refused, not wanting Qiao Man to have any further contact with Lin Heping due to the Zhu Fan case. An Kailun chided Han Sen for his "clingy behavior," explaining that such methods would never win a girl's heart. Han Sen, though scolded, took the check and left.

Later, An Kailun called Lin Heping, politely inviting him to meet to discuss "his foolish brother-in-law's run-in with your company." Lin Heping, recalling An Kailun's past help in Barcelona, readily agreed to the meeting, leaving the arrangements to An Kailun's subordinates.

Meanwhile, Ah Li instructed Yang Lan to proceed with the trademarking of the logo and to have the lawyers continue working on the An Group's litigation case, explicitly telling her to keep Lin Heping out of the loop and to refer any issues to her directly.
