Xu Zhi had to get up early in the morning to do some drawing, which made Chen Luzhou frustrated—he wondered why Xu Zhi wouldn’t just sleep in a little longer. Xu Zhi said there wasn’t enough time. They were on break and had returned home. Chen Luzhou took Xu Zhi out shopping, and on their way back, they happened to run into Xu Zhi’s father and Director Wei.
When Chen Luzhou saw Xu Zhi’s father carrying groceries, he quickly went over to help. Xu Zhi’s father was delighted and felt as if he had gained another son. Xu Zhi asked Director Wei when Wei Lin would be coming back. Director Wei said it would be a few more days, as Qingyi University hadn’t started its break yet. Cai Yingying asked Xu Zhi out for a meal and said she had argued with Zhu Yangqi.
Zhu Yangqi also showed up at the restaurant, and the two of them ignored each other. Chen Luzhou said he was going to buy some drinks and pulled Zhu Yangqi away. Zhu Yangqi talked about Cai Yingying and vented his frustration to Chen Luzhou. Cai Yingying pointed out that Xu Zhi was already in her fifth year and asked what her plans were. Xu Zhi said she had received several offers and was still considering them.
Cai Yingying then asked what Chen Luzhou planned to do next. Xu Zhi said that Chen Luzhou was currently in the second year of his graduate studies and seemed to want to stay on and teach at the university. Cai Yingying asked what Chen Luzhou was thinking. Xu Zhi explained that he had a mentor named Bai Jiang, who was very capable but had never been promoted to full professor.
Chen Luzhou probably wanted to match his mentor and push back against reality. Cai Yingying asked whether Xu Zhi agreed with that, and Xu Zhi said she didn’t have any objections. Xu Zhi then asked about what happened between Cai Yingying and Zhu Yangqi. Zhu Yangqi replied, also feeling quite frustrated. Xu Zhi had originally thought that their argument was on purpose, and wondered if it was because Chen Luzhou was proposing.
Zhu Yangqi returned and handed a bouquet of flowers to Cai Yingying. Chen Luzhou also bought a bouquet for Xu Zhi. Then Cai Yingying received a phone call saying that the host for an interview assignment couldn’t make it, and she was asked to step in on short notice. Chen Luzhou said he was worried that Cai Yingying would feel bad without flowers, so he bought her a bouquet too. Zhu Yangqi went with Cai Yingying.
During filming, there was a conflict between the store owner and the production team. Zhu Yangqi quickly stepped in and said he had called the police. He told Cai Yingying that he wasn’t against her job—he was just afraid of incidents like today. He asked her to promise that no matter what happened, she must protect herself. Cai Yingying agreed. Chen Luzhou proposed to Xu Zhi. He asked her to give him her phone.
When she did, he took a pair of scissors and cut open the felt gift he had previously given her. It turned out he had hidden the ring inside all along. Xu Zhi accepted, and Chen Luzhou placed the ring on her finger. Li Ke and the others witnessed the moment, and everyone took photos together. Chen Luzhou was about to go on exchange to Ruicheng, and their fifth anniversary as a couple was coming up.
When Li Ke found out that Xu Zhi hadn’t celebrated it with Chen Luzhou in advance, he wondered if their honeymoon phase was finally coming to an end. Chen Luzhou was heading to the airport. Xu Zhi had originally said she would see him off, but her team leader suddenly assigned her a task, and she couldn’t make it in time. Chen Luzhou had to go alone and was quite disappointed. Once he arrived in Ruicheng, he called Xu Zhi.
Xu Zhi said she heard that the movie they had watched before was being re-released there, and told him to go see it if he had time. Chen Luzhou said he missed her. Xu Zhi replied that she missed him too. After watching the movie, Chen Luzhou was surprised to see Xu Zhi had come. He was thrilled. He took her to a place by a bridge and took a photo with her to show her.
Xu Zhi realized it was the place from the movie and asked how he had found it—she hadn’t even noticed it herself. Chen Luzhou said there was nothing he couldn’t do. Chen Luzhou said he had one more place to take Xu Zhi. He brought her to a building, where the plaque bore the names of the designers—her mother, Lin Qiudie, was listed first. Xu Zhi hadn’t known her mother had designed a work here and was very moved.
Xu Zhi asked Chen Luzhou what love was. He said it was the hope of becoming better with the person by your side. Xu Zhi said love was a story that never ends. Then she and Chen Luzhou went back to their hometown and took wedding photos.
