As the evening breeze gently swept by, Mu Tingzhou slowly drifted off to sleep in a rocking chair, murmuring softly. Ming Wei, curious, leaned closer and heard him calling out for his mom and dad. Her expression turned sorrowful, her feelings deeply complicated. She gazed at his face, lost in thought, knowing this moment signified his real memories were returning. Though she had long anticipated this day, she hadn't realized how quickly it would arrive.
Ming Wei embraced Mu Tingzhou, a gesture of both comfort and farewell. Ming Qiao calls Xiao Zhao, asking why he's been ignoring her. After briefly inquiring about her sister's relationship with Mu Tingzhou, Ming Qiao pivots, suggesting to Xiao Zhao that the right person for him might already be nearby. Xiao Zhao understands her hint but is saved from responding by a call from Shen Su.
Shen Su is anxiously trying to locate Mu Tingzhou and Ming Wei, but no one can reach them as their phones are off. Later, a foreign couple approaches Mu Tingzhou, asking for directions in English. He initially doesn't react, prompting them to repeat the question. Mu Tingzhou then responds fluently in English, providing clear directions. After the couple departs, he stares wide-eyed, amazed at his newfound ability to speak a foreign language.
Ming Wei, overhearing the exchange, feels a pang of sadness but conceals her feelings. The next day, Mu Tingzhou awakens to find Ming Wei gone, with only her ring left behind. He rushes to the film set, where he sees Ming Wei and Chen Zhang shooting a wedding night scene. The sight momentarily disorients him, triggering a memory of Princess Ming Hua declaring to the Grand Tutor that she would set her wedding date on the same day as his.
In a palace-like setting, Mu Tingzhou, as the Grand Tutor, gently presents the ring to Ming Wei, reminding her that she forgot to wear it. Ming Wei refuses the ring, explaining she wouldn't be able to face the real Mu Tingzhou if she wore it. Desperate, the Grand Tutor questions why she only fears the actor and not his own feelings.
He pleads that whether he is destined to disappear or to live a long life, he doesn't want to give her up and they should cherish their limited time together. With red-rimmed eyes, Ming Wei returns a precious white jade hairpin to him, feeling it is too valuable to keep. Mu Tingzhou asks if there is truly no hope for them.
Ming Wei, turning away, explains that she believes he only cares for Princess Ming Hua, and his kindness is a result of mistaking her for the princess. She fears that continuing the charade will only give her, a normal person, a "Princess Syndrome" and that ending things quickly is better for them both. Mu Tingzhou clarifies that while he initially respected her as the princess, he fell in love with her true self—her innocence and diligence.
His affection is for her, not her title. Seeing her resolve, he lets her go, vowing to no longer be by her side and wishing her well. Overwhelmed, Ming Wei packs her bags. Believing that everything in the house was prepared by the Grand Tutor for the princess, she takes only her own clothes, leaving the rest behind. However, she takes a peony plant, a symbol of her connection to their shared past.
Later, Mu Tingzhou walks through the now-empty places, sensing her lingering presence. When he discovers the peony plant is gone, he finally breaks down in tears. Worried her sister might suffer a similar heartbreak, Ming Wei gently asks about Ming Qiao's love life. Ming Qiao confidently states that she doesn't care if her feelings are reciprocated; if she likes someone, she will pursue them fiercely.
She reasons that since love can cause pain either way, it's better to give it her all. This conversation galvanizes Ming Qiao into action. She arranges to meet Xiao Zhao and professes her feelings by singing a song to him in public. Back home, as Ming Wei tries to encourage herself in the mirror, a downcast Ming Qiao returns and admits she just confessed her feelings. Ming Wei immediately guesses the person is Xiao Zhao and anxiously asks what happened.
