Be My Cat Episode 8 Recap
> Be My Cat Recap
Mo Yuji, realizing his growing affection for Little Mint, decided to pursue her wholeheartedly. He presented her with a painting of her and her brother, which brought a smile to Little Mint's face. Mo Xiuran, observing their joyful interaction, felt a surge of anger, especially recalling how Little Mint had felt ill from his poem earlier.
Luo Feng then offered Mo Xiuran a collection of classic love stories, suggesting they would help him understand relationships and compete with the formidable Mo Yuji. Initially dismissing the idea and ordering Luo Feng to copy military books, Mo Xiuran eventually read the books himself. Deeply moved by the romantic tales, he decided to adapt their grand gestures for his own confession to Little Mint.
He instructed Luo Feng to gather all the butterflies within a five-li radius, planning a magnificent declaration of love that he believed would move Little Mint to tears. However, just as Little Mint approached, her attention was captivated by Mo Yuji, who appeared playing the zither. Enraged, Mo Xiuran moved to confront his brother, inadvertently knocking over the butterfly cage. The released butterflies, instead of enhancing Mo Xiuran’s planned confession, were drawn to Mo Yuji’s scented sachet, circling him beautifully.
Mo Xiuran fumed, feeling his efforts had only served to embellish Mo Yuji's appeal. Later, Nan Pingwan invited them to visit the market. Mo Yuji declined, stating he had plans to visit a zither shop with Little Mint, prompting Nan Pingwan to invite a seething Mo Xiuran instead, who reluctantly accepted. Luo Feng, after completing his military book punishment, proposed a new, unconventional strategy.
While he initially suggested drugging Mo Yuji with Coptis Chinensis to incapacitate him, Mo Xiuran had a different idea. Inspired by a love story where a "disgusting second male lead" highlighted the sincere love of the protagonists, he decided to discredit Mo Yuji. Luo Feng proposed a "Graft" scheme: Mo Xiuran would impersonate Mo Yuji to behave offensively, while Luo Feng would impersonate Mo Xiuran to divert Nan Pingwan.
Luo Feng, disguised as Mo Xiuran, feigned illness to avoid the market, but Nan Pingwan brought a doctor to his room, scaring him into swiftly "recovering" and accompanying her. Meanwhile, Mo Xiuran, disguised as Mo Yuji, deliberately acted weak and childish at the market, hoping to evoke Little Mint's disgust. The two groups unexpectedly crossed paths. Little Mint, using her small pet, "Little Dragon," quickly realized that the "Mo Yuji" with her was Mo Xiuran in disguise.
Simultaneously, the real Mo Yuji and his servant were suffering from severe diarrhea, a consequence of the laxative Luo Feng had subtly added to their tremella soup. Knowing she was being tricked, Little Mint decided to teach Mo Xiuran a lesson. At the zither shop, she challenged "Mo Yuji" (Mo Xiuran) to play a demanding instrument called the Qianyun Zither.
To her surprise, Mo Xiuran, having previously heard Mo Yuji play, flawlessly reproduced the melody, internally boasting about his ability to learn by ear. Outside the shop, a group of women, seemingly arranged by Mo Xiuran, approached "Mo Yuji," claiming to be his admirers. Little Mint seized the moment, publicly accusing "Mo Yuji" of being dissolute and disgracing the Mo family, demanding that "Mo Xiuran" (Luo Feng) punish him.
Terrified but forced to comply, Luo Feng punched "Mo Yuji" (Mo Xiuran) hard in the face, much to Little Mint's amusement. Luo Feng later expressed his regret and frustration to Mo Xiuran about the painful punch and the futile strategy. Mo Yuji and his servant soon discovered that Mo Xiuran was behind their agonizing digestive issues. Annoyed by his brother's persistent antics, Mo Yuji declared he would no longer back down.
Mo Xiuran, undeterred by his recent setbacks, tried another grand gesture. He filled a room with white chrysanthemums and performed a "special courtship dance from Yu Li Planet" for Little Mint, professing his sincere feelings. Little Mint, however, found the display bizarre, pointing out that white chrysanthemums were traditionally used for funerals and questioning his earlier disguise. Just then, Mo Yuji arrived to apologize to Little Mint for missing their zither shop outing, suggesting they reschedule.
Before Mo Xiuran could react, Little Mint quickly used the Blue Soul Orb to transform him back into a cat. She then presented him to Mo Yuji as her secretly adopted pet, "Little Lucky," playfully blaming its current "fat and ugly" state on its eating habits. The furious cat-Mo Xiuran promptly scratched Mo Yuji's face. Nan Pingwan, perplexed by the strange behavior of the Mo brothers, discussed it with Nan Fei De.
Nan Fei De confirmed her suspicions, revealing that both Mo Xiuran and Mo Yuji were vying for Little Mint's affection, citing Mo Xiuran's unusual gift of a room full of white chrysanthemums. Observing the aggressively scratching "Little Lucky," Mo Yuji theorized the cat was in "heat" and needed a companion. He offered to take "Little Lucky" for two days, promising to return a docile pet. Little Mint, seeing an opportunity to further discipline Mo Xiuran, readily agreed, much to the cat's silent indignation.
