Mo Xiuran, enjoying grilled fish at Bu Ou's "Meow's Fried Fish" restaurant, vented his frustrations about Little Mint. He complained about her lack of integrity and broken promises, convinced that his own "dazzling charm" must have made her feel inferior, preventing her from falling for him. He even speculated that Little Mint might have no interest in men at all. Bu Ou, the shop owner, listened with amusement.

Just as Mo Xiuran shared his theory, Little Mint arrived with Mo Yuji, immediately disproving his speculation. Little Mint was treating Mo Yuji to grilled fish and fish balls as a thank you for his help in quickly finding a Red Soul Orb, expressing her hope that this would lead her to her brother's whereabouts. Mo Xiuran, unable to contain himself, stomped over to their table.

He aggressively questioned Mo Yuji about his presence with his maid and berated Little Mint for being at the shop instead of the mansion, despite her "100-day paid leave." He declared that she was his maid and therefore not allowed to eat with Mo Yuji, ordering her to leave.

When Little Mint refused, Mo Yuji attempted to mediate, explaining he had simply done Little Mint a favor by finding her a Red Soul Orb, and she was treating him in return. Hearing this, Mo Xiuran immediately snatched the orb and crushed it, asserting it was a fake because a real Soul Orb would not break so easily. He promised to find the true Red Soul Orb for Little Mint and, despite her protests, forcibly dragged her away.

As they left, Little Mint thanked Mo Yuji and promised Bu Ou to settle her bill later. Mo Xiuran, however, announced that he would cover Mo Yuji's meal. Mo Yuji, watching them depart, was surprisingly happy, noting it was the longest conversation he'd had with his elder brother in years. Mo Xiuran, meanwhile, pondered who could be secretly collecting the Soul Orbs.

As Mo Xiuran pulled her away, Little Mint asked if he was truly going to help her find her brother. She proposed a deal: if he helped her find her brother, she would agree to break their master-servant contract. Mo Xiuran, still upset about her past broken promises, demanded a traditional Yu Li Planet vow. The ritual involved licking each other's faces, but Little Mint found herself unable to lick his face, causing the vow to be called off.

Turning to the task of finding the Soul Orb, Mo Xiuran concentrated his powers to locate it. He repeated several attempts to pinpoint the orb's location, finally succeeding in locating it eight li northeast of the Mo Mansion, transported by ship from Jun Bao House. However, the exertion from overusing his powers caused him to transform back into his cat form, Little Tiger Spot. Luo Feng, witnessing the transformation, panicked and fled, screaming that Mo Xiuran was a monster.

The next morning, Mo Xiuran transformed back into his human form. Little Mint, unaware he had changed back from a cat, was still affectionately touching him until he stopped her, feeling embarrassed. Mo Xiuran demanded to know why she was in his room and on his bed. Little Mint explained she stayed because "Little Tiger Spot" looked tired and exhausted, unaware he would revert to human form.

She then informed him that Luo Feng had seen him turn into a cat and was scared away. Mo Xiuran found Luo Feng attempting to take his own life, mistakenly believing Mo Xiuran was a "Cat Monster" who had killed his master. Mo Xiuran had to reveal the truth to Luo Feng, convincing him that he was still the Young General.

Luo Feng, deeply loyal, was then tasked by Mo Xiuran to reconsider his actions and to find him once he understood. Mo Xiuran and Little Mint then visited Jun Bao House, an antique shop, to retrieve the Red Soul Orb. The shopkeeper informed them that Lady Yu had already sent someone to purchase it that morning. Little Mint realized they were a step behind.

The shopkeeper also mentioned that about half a month prior, a young man named Su, seemingly a professional, had inquired about the orb but lacked the funds, asking for a month to gather the money. Little Mint immediately recognized this as her brother. Mo Xiuran assured her that he would retrieve the Red Soul Orb from Lady Yu, even if it meant getting it from the Emperor himself. Meanwhile, Lady Yu was examining the Red Soul Orb she had acquired.

She became increasingly suspicious about Mo Xiuran, recalling how he had mysteriously vanished from Little Mint's room recently and how his personality had drastically changed since his "warding-off" wedding. Believing something was amiss with Mo Xiuran, Lady Yu summoned a Taoist master. The Taoist master confirmed her suspicions, suggesting she was troubled by a "Cat Monster."

He gave her "Xinghuang Powder" (Apricot Yellow Powder) to mix into wine, claiming it would force the Cat Monster to reveal its true form within the time it took for half an incense stick to burn. Lady Yu, resolute, planned to expose Mo Xiuran. The Emperor, seeking to mend relations, invited the Princess and Prince of Sunset City to the capital for peace talks, entrusting the Mo family with the arrangements.

The Mo Patriarch instructed his sons, Mo Xiuran and Mo Yuji, to impress the princess at the upcoming banquet to win the Emperor's favor, hoping one of them could secure an engagement. Mo Xiuran, however, stated his belief that they should not constantly give in and should teach them a lesson if they make unreasonable demands. During the banquet, the Sunset City Princess immediately challenged Mo Xiuran to a fight and, upon her defeat, acknowledged his skills.

The Sunset City Prince, noticing Little Mint's beauty, invited her to drink with him, but Mo Xiuran's second uncle intervened on her behalf, taking the prince's challenge himself. Mo Xiuran, recalling a memory of his uncle from childhood, appreciated his timely help. Later, Lady Yu presented the Red Soul Orb to the princess as a gift, intending it to secure the princess's favor for Mo Yuji.

The princess, unable to see the expected carp image within the orb, initially deemed it a fake. Mo Xiuran then examined the orb, confirming it was not a fake, but explaining that the "fancy carp" (soul) inside had, like himself, "escaped." He clarified that while it might lack its 'soul', it was still a valuable treasure and represented the Mo family's respect, persuading the princess to accept it.

During the banquet, Lady Yu covertly added the Xinghuang Powder into Mo Xiuran's wine glass. After drinking it, Mo Xiuran felt unwell and immediately requested Little Mint to take him back to his room. However, Lady Yu, realizing her plan was working, declared that Mo Xiuran had prepared a "surprise" and led the guests, including the Mo Patriarch, the Princess, and the Prince, towards his room in the East Courtyard.

Little Mint, realizing the danger, told Luo Feng to stall the crowd while she tried to find a solution. As the Taoist master began chanting his spell, a cat was caught. Lady Yu identified the cat as Mo Xiuran, claiming the real Young General had been killed. To support her accusation, she cited her maid, Cui Qiao, who had recently witnessed Mo Xiuran with cat ears. The Mo Patriarch, however, dismissed her claims as nonsense, refusing to believe his son could be a beast.
