Little Mint mistakenly believed Mo Xiuran was worried she loved his appearance rather than his true identity as the Prince of Yu Li Planet. She clarified her feelings, telling him, "You are the one I like. Although you are bad-tempered and arrogant, I have no choice. Love is something we can't control, isn't that so?" Mo Xiuran then reiterated his desire to return to Yu Li Planet, but refused to take her, stating he couldn't take her back.

He kissed Little Mint, and images of their time together flashed through their minds, signifying the "true love's kiss" Bu Ou had previously spoken of. This act immediately terminated their contract. Little Mint, deeply hurt, asked if he was truly going to leave her behind, to which Mo Xiuran coldly replied that his actions were solely to end their contract and that everything he had said before was a lie.

Distraught, Little Mint reminded him of his many promises – to stay for her, to have an endless future, to receive blessings, and to be with her for life. Mo Xiuran offered a curt "Sorry. I was lying to you," and scoffed at the idea of a Yu Li Planet Prince falling for an ordinary girl like her. Heartbroken, Little Mint threw the Blue Soul Orb at him, declaring, "Get your ass back to Yu Li Planet.

Don't ever come back. I don't want to see you again," and ran away crying. Mo Xiuran watched her leave with regret, thinking he had to do this to protect her. He had recently confirmed that Shu Hu was still alive—piecing together the Heavenly Hound’s dying words and Su Zimo’s story of a masked man instructing him to collect the orbs—and couldn't bear the thought of Little Mint being hurt if she stayed by his side.

Later, Little Mint rang the bell Mo Xiuran had given her for emergencies, but he did not appear. Mo Yuji came to bid farewell to Little Mint, informing her that he would remain in Sunset City to manage bank affairs and would not be returning to the capital with her. Little Mint revealed that she would also not be returning to the capital, as she had found her brother and intended to go home to Qingshan Town.

She added that the Young General no longer needed a maid like her. Mo Yuji was visibly saddened by her decision. As departures were made, Mo Xiuran observed Nan Pingwan and Luo Feng exchanging affectionate goodbyes. Nan Pingwan expressed her reluctance for Luo Feng to leave, and Luo Feng reciprocated, promising to return to Sunset City to marry her after achieving success in the capital. Mo Xiuran playfully teased them with a thumbs-up.

Little Mint and Mo Xiuran then went their separate ways without another word, with Little Mint departing in a carriage and Mo Xiuran riding back to Tian Li. Alone, Mo Xiuran sought solace in alcohol at Bu Ou's Meow's Fried Fish, his mind consumed by memories of Little Mint. He confided in Bu Ou that Shu Hu was still alive, prompting Bu Ou's surprise and question about why he had been so cruel to Little Mint.

Mo Xiuran explained his fear that Shu Hu would target Little Mint for the Soul Orbs, repeating a past tragedy involving Qing Zi You. Bu Ou suggested the best protection for Little Mint would be for Mo Xiuran to return to Yu Li Planet with the Soul Orbs to lure out and destroy Shu Hu.

However, Mo Xiuran was concerned that once he returned, he might not be allowed to come back to Tian Li, indicating his reluctance to let go of Little Mint. He theorized that Shu Hu had been orchestrating him, Little Mint, and Brother Zi Mo to collect the Soul Orbs because his mother's sacrifice during their last confrontation had severely wounded him, rendering him unable to collect the orbs himself.

Mo Xiuran suspected Shu Hu was hiding within the Mo Mansion, having possessed someone's body. Bu Ou confirmed that Shu Hu emitted a unique scent, undetectable by humans but highly sensitive to dogs, which explained the Heavenly Hound's earlier detection. She added that a dog in close proximity to Shu Hu would bark incessantly and might even attempt to attack the possessed individual. Returning to the Mo Mansion, Mo Xiuran instructed Luo Feng to borrow a dog from Lady Yu.

Luo Feng brought back Zhao Cai, one of Yuan Bao's offspring, as Yuan Bao herself was pregnant again. Initially repulsed by Zhao Cai's smell, Mo Xiuran reluctantly ordered Luo Feng to take the dog around the mansion to sniff out everyone. Zhao Cai wagged its tail and seemed friendly towards most residents, leading Mo Xiuran to doubt his theory. However, upon encountering Second Master, Zhao Cai began barking fiercely.

Second Master clarified that he had helped Yuan Bao deliver puppies, and the blood on his hands was likely the cause of Zhao Cai's aggressive reaction. Mo Xiuran then concluded that Shu Hu would only reveal himself once all four Soul Orbs were gathered. Meanwhile, having returned to Qingshan Town, Little Mint was living in a state of deep despondency, often holding the bell Mo Xiuran had given her and getting lost in memories.

Her assistant at Yiqu Pet Shop, Xiao Yun, observed that she felt soulless by day and ghostly by night. Trying to lift her spirits, Xiao Yun suggested a matchmaking date and showed her profiles of bachelors, including a Mr. Ouyang. During this time, Mr. Ouyang entered the shop, seeking a cat for Marquis Jin Yang.

Little Mint overheard him mention Marquis Jin Yang, the eldest young master of the Mo family and the Young General of Tian Li State, who had been elevated to Marquis after signing a friendly treaty. She realized Mo Xiuran had not returned to Yu Li Planet as he had claimed. Puzzled by his continued presence in Tian Li, Little Mint felt there must be another story and resolved to return to the capital for answers.

Her brother, Brother Zi Mo, expressed his dismay that she had given the Soul Orbs to Mo Xiuran, as collecting them was crucial for his jade sculpting work. Seizing the opportunity, Little Mint proposed they return to Mo Xiuran to retrieve the Soul Orbs, giving her a valid reason to go back to the capital and confront him. She entrusted the Yiqu Pet Shop to Xiao Yun, and she and Brother Zi Mo set off for the capital.

Brother Zi Mo planned to visit Director Xu at the Jade Courtyard to inquire about the Yellow Soul Orb, while Little Mint intended to re-enter the Mo Mansion. Upon arriving at the Mo Mansion, Little Mint was immediately blocked by the guards, who dismissed her as "irrelevant" and refused her entry, a stark contrast to her previous welcome.

Inside, Zi You, a childhood acquaintance of Mo Xiuran, was attempting to get his attention, offering him tea and proposing to play a song she had recently learned. At the same moment, Luo Feng, retrieving a letter from Nan Pingwan at the gate, spotted Little Mint. He rushed to Mo Xiuran, who, upon hearing of Little Mint's return, abruptly left Zi You and hurried to the entrance, catching Little Mint as she nearly stumbled.
