Almost Famous Episode 12 Recap
> Almost Famous Recap
Amy visited Professor Li Shuangbai in his office, seeking help to identify her father from a torn photograph of her parents. She explained that she had never met her father but heard he was once a professor at Starry Arts Academy, and she hoped Professor Li, having taught there for a long time, might recognize him. Professor Li, after looking at the incomplete picture, stated he didn't recognize the person.
He mentioned that he had worked for the Education Bureau for several years, so he didn't know all the teachers. He promised to ask his old colleagues for her, understanding how important this was to Amy. Disappointed, Amy later recounted her visit to Wei Feng, sharing her earlier suspicion that Professor Li might be her father.
However, she admitted that she had closely watched his face during their conversation and detected no change in his expression, which made her doubt her theory. Wei Feng advised her not to overthink things and suggested they could continue searching in the old Laojie neighborhood or ask Professor Li to keep inquiring. After Amy left, Professor Li, looking serious, picked up his phone, seemingly to make a call to someone very important to him.
Meanwhile, Cheng Ming was confirmed as the lead actress for the musical, a decision that was well-deserved due to her emotionally moving performance. Qu Shiyun, seeing Cheng Ming's ambition as an opportunity, actively offered to help Cheng Ming practice. Unaware of Qu Shiyun's ulterior motives, Cheng Ming gratefully accepted the offer.
Qu Shiyun, aiming to sabotage Cheng Ming's voice so she could take over the lead role and secure a contract with You You, deliberately increased the difficulty of Cheng Ming's vocal exercises, including running while singing and reaching extremely high notes. Despite the strenuous training, Cheng Ming's dedication and tireless effort impressed Qu Shiyun, making her want to stop tormenting Cheng Ming.
However, the intense practice had already taken its toll, and on the day of the performance, Cheng Ming started coughing uncontrollably, and her throat became inflamed. You Zhiqi quickly sought out Professor Dao for help. When the other students learned of Cheng Ming's condition, they worried about the performance. Amy directly accused Qu Shiyun of having a hidden agenda, stating that her constant practice with Cheng Ming was a ploy to replace her.
Feeling unfairly judged and hurt, Qu Shiyun vehemently denied the accusations, tearfully declaring that even if Cheng Ming couldn't perform and no one could replace her, she would never take on the role of Mary. She then rushed out of the room. Ding Dongdong followed her and overheard Qu Shiyun talking on the phone to You You, refusing to sign a contract and expressing deep regret for having hurt Cheng Ming.
Ding Dongdong then approached Qu Shiyun, acknowledging her past intentions but reassuring her that everyone understood she had changed her mind, especially since she had rejected the agency's offer. He encouraged her to bravely face the situation, emphasizing that they were all in it together. Qu Shiyun, tearfully, agreed not to run away and promised to face everyone. Professor Dao arrived and used Cheng Ming's situation to impart a lesson to the students about the importance of protecting their voices.
He then asked Qu Shiyun if she still wished to play the lead role. Qu Shiyun replied that while she had previously vied for the role, she now only wished to perform her assigned part well. Professor Dao respected her decision, praising her focus on her own character. Ultimately, Du Shuang, a student with excellent grades who had also practiced the lead role in her free time, was chosen to replace Cheng Ming.
Qu Shiyun sincerely apologized to Cheng Ming, who, instead of blaming her, encouraged her to perform her role well. Cheng Ming, now relegated to the audience, watched the musical unfold. Seeing You Zhiqi on stage, she reminisced about their past interactions, which solidified her decision to accept his confession. Meanwhile, You Zhiqi received a call from his doctor, reminding him to hurry to the airport, as he had to leave soon.
You Zhiqi, however, still had an important matter to settle regarding Cheng Ming, whom he couldn't let go of. He met with Wei Feng, asking him to look after Cheng Ming during his absence, explaining that he was leaving for an indefinite period and wasn't sure if he would return. Wei Feng urged You Zhiqi to tell Cheng Ming the truth himself.
You Zhiqi agreed to provide Cheng Ming with an explanation but asked Wei Feng to keep their meeting a secret. Later, Cheng Ming, holding a bouquet of flowers, met You Zhiqi, excitedly congratulating him on his performance and confessing her feelings for him, stating she had decided to be with him.
To her shock, You Zhiqi sternly dismissed his previous confession, claiming he was drunk and joking that day and that she shouldn't take it seriously, emphasizing that their relationship was merely that of an idol and a fan. Cheng Ming, hurt and confused, refused to believe him, asking about all the times he had been kind to her, his confession, and their first kiss.
You Zhiqi cruelly retorted that in his drunken state, he would have expressed affection to "even a stray cat or dog." Cheng Ming, enraged by his words, threw the flowers at him, still convinced he was hiding something. She pleaded with him to tell her the truth so they could face it together.
Desperate to push her away, You Zhiqi harshly told her to wake up, reiterated that he didn't like her, pushed her to the ground, and walked away, leaving her distraught in the pouring rain.
