Later that night, Su Xiaowan, carrying a small bundle, quietly left to visit Xiao An, who was recovering. She expressed her desire to leave their current surroundings permanently and suggested Xiao An remain with Ru Ying as his apprentice to further his medical studies. However, Xiao An insisted that Su Xiaowan was his only family, and his home was wherever she was. He vowed to join her after settling his affairs and writing a letter to Ru Ying.
The next morning, Ru Ying's apprentice discovered Xiao An had left, and quickly went to find Ru Ying, startling both Ru Ying and a deeply sleeping Gu Yanxi awake.
