In the capital city, Qin Chonglou, the head of the Qinchao Tang Pharmacy, and General Yun Zilong simultaneously request the emperor's decree to marry the daughter of the Mo Family Medical Clinic. However, the Mo family has two daughters, the legitimate daughter Mo Jingyu and the illegitimate daughter Mo Banxia. The emperor issues a decree for them to draw lots to determine their spouses: whoever they draw will be their marriage partner.
Qin Chonglou suffers from a leg injury and hears that Mo Jingyu is highly skilled in medicine. He hopes she can cure him.
On the other hand, Yun Zilong harbors a deep-seated hatred due to a family tragedy. His family was implicated when there were errors in the transportation of military supplies and medicinal materials years ago. He is the sole survivor, and the medicinal materials were sent by Mo Xiang of the Mo Family Medical Clinic. Yun Zilong learns that Mo Xiang favors Mo Banxia and wants to use her to uncover evidence of Mo Xiang's involvement in the downfall of the Yun family, seeking revenge for his family.
In order to marry the right person, Qin Chonglou manipulates the lots, but fate takes an unexpected turn. The lots are drawn incorrectly: Qin Chaotang marries Mo Banxia, and Yun Zilong marries Mo Jingyu. The two unwilling couples embark on married life, only to discover that they are surprisingly well-matched.
