Under the Skin Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
> Under the Skin Season 2 Recap
Shen Yi showed Chang Feng the portrait of Themis, the goddess of justice, and told him her story, indicating that the cliff was Chang Feng's sword, and the signpost symbolized the scales of choice. That year, Chang Feng chose to save someone, but his sister fell off the cliff and died. This was the initial motive for Chang Feng to become a judge. When his innermost thoughts were exposed, Chang Feng began to confess everything.
Ma Huainan's death that year was indeed Chang Feng's doing, but Ma Huainan had intended to kill Ke Ling at the time, deliberately letting go and causing Ke Ling to fall. Chang Feng was enraged and pulled out his firewood knife, injuring Ma Huainan and letting him fall. Chang Feng went down to search and rescue, saved the injured Ke Ling, and called the 120 emergency number.
He was also willing to pay the price for killing someone, but Ke Ling believed that it was Ma Huainan getting his just deserts and ultimately concealed the truth. Later, Chang Feng dumped Ma Huainan's body into the sinkhole, not expecting that it would be discovered by the criminal police team years later. Li Han and the others found Zhang Sijing's mobile phone, ID card, and a suicide note at Chang Feng's home.
Du Cheng recalled previously showing Zhang Sijing's photo and asking Chang Feng if he had seen her, which Chang Feng denied. Du Cheng immediately went in with Zhang Sijing's ID card to question Chang Feng about why he lied, and Chang Feng confessed directly that he had killed Zhang Sijing.
According to Chang Feng, Zhang Sijing, unable to bear the pressure from her family to marry, developed suicidal thoughts and came alone to Fengdu Mountain, known as "Suicide Valley," but could not reach the summit to see the clouds steaming and mist glowing due to acrophobia. Chang Feng suggested she jump into the lake, which Zhang Sijing thought was a good idea. Du Cheng arranged for Jiang Feng to search the area Chang Feng provided.
Shen Yi felt that Chang Feng was not someone who would kill innocent people, but why did he admit to killing Zhang Sijing so easily? The police decrypted Zhang Sijing's phone and found that her last call was to a friend named Liu Xinyao. Du Cheng and Shen Yi went to the coffee shop owned by Liu Xinyao to learn about the situation.
They learned that Zhang Sijing's parents were very strict with her, controlling everything from what job to take and what friends to make, down to what clothes to wear. Shen Yi noticed two Gauguin paintings in the coffee shop, their content forming a dialogue. Afterwards, the two went to Zhang Sijing's parents to understand the situation. Shen Yi discovered that Zhang Sijing loved reading "The Moon and Sixpence," a novel whose protagonist was based on Gauguin.
Shen Yi deduced that Zhang Sijing did not truly want to die, but rather wanted to live a completely new life. As expected, Jiang Feng and his team retrieved a scarecrow from the lake. Although the scarecrow was wearing Zhang Sijing's clothes, it was not her. Through investigation, the police finally found Zhang Sijing.
Shen Yi even keenly noticed a photo in Liu Xinyao's coffee shop with a short-haired friend, and the short-haired friend in the photo should be Zhang Sijing. Shen Yi and Li Han found Zhang Sijing, who was safe and sound. She was surprised to hear that Chang Feng had been arrested and wondered what she could do for him.
The exhibition curator, Director Zhang, called Shen Yi and told him that the painting "Restless Still Life" had been bought by a Mr. Fang. Shen Yi wanted to retrieve the painting and scheduled a meeting with the buyer. Unexpectedly, the buyer was the same man who had accidentally bumped into him at the exhibition last time and commented on the painting.
The man bought the painting because he did not want it to be seen by others again, but he refused Shen Yi's request to buy it back. Then, in Shen Yi's shocked gaze, he used a knife to cut the painting from top to bottom. Shen Yi suspected that he had seen his dream, and the man said that it was his dream too.
