To facilitate her efforts to imitate Lin Lu, Fang Qiao moved her home to Shi Liansen's neighborhood. One morning, Yan Zichen found Fang Qiao outside, shocked that she was really moving in next to Shi Liansen's house. Fang Qiao confirmed she had moved in the previous night, specifying that they lived on the same street, practically next door to Shi Liansen.
Later that day, Fang Qiao and Yan Zichen visited Shi Liansen's home, where Fang Qiao excitedly announced to Lin Lu that they were now neighbors. Lin Lu, unaware of Fang Qiao's true intentions, expressed delight at having a new friend nearby. Yan Zichen, however, felt overlooked, questioning why people would follow others instead of acknowledging him. When Shi Liansen returned home, he observed Lin Lu and Fang Qiao interacting.
He deliberately showed affection towards Lin Lu, asking her to put down her phone and expressing concern for her eyes. Lin Lu was surprised by his sudden attentiveness. Fang Qiao, ignoring Yan Zichen’s obvious displeasure, proposed a housewarming hot pot party. Shi Liansen covertly instructed Lin Lu to "cooperate a little."
When Lin Lu eagerly offered to buy hot pot ingredients, Shi Liansen quickly interrupted, claiming Lin Lu was suffering from internal heat and her throat was not well, making hot pot unsuitable for her. Fang Qiao, undeterred, told Yan Zichen to not worry about Lin Lu's health and said they could still have the party. Yan Zichen, feeling completely ignored by Fang Qiao, stated he would not join and left in frustration.
After the hot pot incident, Shi Liansen confronted Lin Lu, accusing her of breaching their contract by almost arranging to meet Fang Qiao alone. Lin Lu defended herself, explaining she felt a strange connection with Fang Qiao, as if they had known each other for years, and promised not to reveal their secrets.
To deter Lin Lu from visiting Fang Qiao, Shi Liansen fabricated a story about Fang Qiao owning a "mean bulldog," which successfully frightened Lin Lu into agreeing not to go. Later that night, Shi Liansen discovered Lin Lu still awake in the middle of the night. Lin Lu claimed she had too much "excessive energy" to sleep and had reversed her biological clock to avoid sleepwalking and disturbing him.
Shi Liansen decided that keeping her at home was not safe, especially with Fang Qiao living nearby. He expressed concern that Lin Lu, with her perceived lack of intelligence, might inadvertently reveal their secrets if Fang Qiao pried for information. He then informed her that she would accompany him to work at Huanzhen Group as his secretary. Lin Lu protested, pointing out that Maggie was already his secretary.
Shi Liansen clarified that Maggie handled the intellectual tasks, while Lin Lu's role was to sit beside him and alleviate his worries. He assigned her the seemingly simple task of shredding "useless documents" before his meeting. Lin Lu, bored by the mundane task, found herself yearning for the energy-consuming chores of home. In her zeal to finish, she mistakenly shredded an important "Cinderella’s sales report for this month," realizing her error only after Shi Liansen inquired about it.
Later that night, a visibly drunk Yan Zichen engaged Shi Liansen in a conversation, questioning why, despite his perceived superior looks, personality, and taste in clothes, all the girls preferred Shi Liansen. He lamented that if a girl didn't like him, she wouldn't even notice his existence, regardless of what he did. Shi Liansen, growing impatient, decided it was time to leave and had his assistant Maggie bring the car around, but Yan Zichen stubbornly insisted on continuing to drink.
Shi Liansen had to physically remove him. To prevent further trouble, Shi Liansen brought Lin Lu to an afternoon client meeting with President Ma. During the meeting, Lin Lu became uncontrollably shaky, confessing her hands were moving on their own due to excessive coffee consumption. Shi Liansen, covering for her, told President Ma that his girlfriend was unwell and needed to be rushed to the hospital, abruptly ending the negotiation.
Feeling guilty about jeopardizing the deal, Lin Lu apologized to Shi Liansen and promised to reduce her coffee intake. For his birthday, she had ordered a bear costume online, but to her dismay, a pig costume was delivered instead. Deciding to make the best of it, Lin Lu, dressed in the pig costume and a birthday hat, entered Shi Liansen’s room, singing "Happy Birthday."
Shi Liansen found the costume "ugly," but Lin Lu insisted it was a "cute pig" and explained the mix-up was an apology for a previously poor-quality bear gift. Shi Liansen, though, stated he didn’t need an apology and simply wanted her to stay home and out of trouble, betraying a slight smile despite his words.
During their conversation, Lin Lu passionately declared her dream of becoming an international makeup artist, aspiring to study overseas and even mentioning a makeup competition with a significant prize. Shi Liansen initially dismissed her ambition. However, he then offered her an opportunity, arranging for her to become a makeup consultant at Huanzhen, where she would be mentored by the internationally renowned makeup master, Ms. Kevin, who had worked with many celebrities. Thrilled, Lin Lu agreed to forgo the competition.
Ms. Kevin, evaluating Lin Lu's limited experience, emphasized the need to practice on at least ten thousand people to become qualified. Shi Liansen, to help her achieve this, arranged for Lin Lu to train at the Huanzhen counter, where she enthusiastically went to find her "ten thousand people." While Lin Lu was working at the counter, a furious customer approached, displaying a severe facial rash.
The customer claimed she had bought Huanzhen products that morning and her face was "almost disfigured." Lin Lu attempted to calm her, offering water and explaining the company's after-sale services. The customer, however, escalated her complaints, demanding to see the manager and accusing Huanzhen of being an "evil brand" that exploited consumers with its new "civilian series" and "Forest Couples brand image."
Recognizing Lin Lu as the brand's "poster girl," the customer verbally attacked her, accusing her of profiting from the supposed fraud and threatening divine punishment. Despite Lin Lu's pleas for calm and reason, the customer became enraged, grabbing a cup of hot tea. Just as she was about to throw it at Lin Lu, Shi Liansen appeared and stepped in front of Lin Lu, shielding her from the hot liquid.
