Liang Zhi lashed out at Shen Jing, telling her not to pretend to know him and stating he didn't care about her feelings. He then accused Shen Jing of brazenly interfering between him and Lin Lu. Lin Lu, however, asserted that she and Liang Zhi were only friends and expressed her disappointment in him for blaming Shen Jing. Shi Liansen intervened, urging everyone to calm down and pointing out the impropriety of their public scene.
Shen Jing then turned her anger on Lin Lu, questioning her sympathy and accusing her of being cunning and unable to choose between Shi Liansen and Liang Zhi. Shi Liansen defended Lin Lu, telling Shen Jing to direct her anger at him, which prompted Shen Jing to highlight that he was protecting "another's girlfriend." This led Lin Lu to confront Shi Liansen, believing he had only invited her to dance for business reasons, accusing him of self-interest and a lack of empathy for others' feelings. Fang Qiao later advised Shi Liansen that true love, not extravagant gestures, was what girls truly cared about, which made him realize his approach was flawed. Taking Fang Qiao’s advice to heart, Shi Liansen searched for ways to express his feelings.
After several failed attempts to confess through friends, direct conversation, and written notes, which Lin Lu found "corny" and "childish," he persisted. Lin Lu, still upset but unsure of her stance, discussed her feelings with Fang Qiao, who encouraged her to communicate her attitude rather than ignore the problem. Shi Liansen, not giving up, orchestrated a romantic scene by the sea with candles spelling "I LIKE YOU."
