He recalls being enchanted by her smiles, hugs, mischief, and jokes, acknowledging that she became everything to him. Despite having countless reasons to see her, he struggles to find a proper position in her life, fearing the loss of being by her side during her moments of sadness.
He admits to never expecting to love anyone until he met her, and believes he won't be able to love again if it's not her. He wishes Lin Lu could hear his words of love, which have grown over time, recognizing that while beautiful things often come true only in dreams, he still has her when he wakes up.
Meanwhile, Lin Lu, a cheerful and diligent young woman, expresses her personal philosophy, stating that she dreams of beautiful things coming true but works hard to achieve them, always either at work or on her way to it. She receives exciting news from Mr. Liang, informing her that she has been invited for a makeup artist job interview at Huanzhen.
Full of enthusiasm, she sets off on her scooter, but her journey is abruptly interrupted when she collides with a car driven by Shi Liansen, damaging her scooter. She quickly takes note of his license plate number. Shi Liansen faces significant pressure. Someone informs him that without the Fang family's financial support, Huanzhen Group risks bankruptcy or acquisition by the Sally Group, and therefore, he must be engaged to Fang Qiao.
Shi Liansen firmly refuses, stating he won't get engaged and won't sacrifice his marriage. He meets with Fang Qiao, reiterating that their proposed marriage is merely their parents' idea and that he has no intention of going through with it. Fang Qiao, however, remains persistent, highlighting her family's wealth as a means to save Huanzhen and asserting that their marriage will eventually happen, suggesting it could even boost the "Cinderella" product line.
Adding to Shi Liansen's challenges, all department executives at Huanzhen collectively resign via email, likely poached by a rival company. He instructs his assistant, Maggie, to send him their CVs and quickly arrange temporary replacements, emphasizing strict office access. News of the mass resignations spreads, leading to the cancellation of all scheduled job interviews, including Lin Lu's. Lin Lu is distraught, pouring out her frustration to her childhood friend, Liang Zhi, over the phone.
She emphasizes how important the job at Huanzhen is to her family's financial needs and her dream of working alongside famous makeup artist Kevin. Liang Zhi tries to comfort her, suggesting Huanzhen's current troubles might make it a difficult place to work and offers to help her find a position at the Sally Group, but Lin Lu insists on Huanzhen. While expressing her disappointment at Huanzhen, Lin Lu unexpectedly encounters Fang Qiao.
Fang Qiao, seeing Lin Lu's passion for the job, offers her a chance. Fang Qiao reveals she happens to need a makeup artist for an upcoming photoshoot and invites Lin Lu to assist. Lin Lu eagerly agrees and skillfully applies makeup for Fang Qiao's photoshoot as the new endorser for Huanzhen's "Cinderella" products. Impressed by Lin Lu's talent and charming demeanor during the shoot, Fang Qiao immediately hires her, telling Lin Lu she can start working at Huanzhen tomorrow.
Lin Lu, overjoyed, makes calls to Jingjing, Liang Zhi, and her mother, excitedly sharing the good news that she's been hired by Huanzhen's future hostess and will officially start work the next day. To celebrate her new job and express her joy, Lin Lu visits the beach, her "secret base," talking to the stones and shells about her multiple part-time jobs and her new full-time position, enthusiastically exclaiming her desire to make money.
Her celebration is interrupted by the sudden appearance of Shi Liansen, who also considers the beach his private space. Their playful argument over who discovered the spot first escalates, with Lin Lu accusing him of being a bully. During this interaction, Lin Lu, caught in her excitement, gives Shi Liansen a spontaneous hug. Unbeknownst to them, their interaction is secretly photographed, sparking a scandal.
