Whirlwind Girl 2 Episode 9 Recap
> Whirlwind Girl 2 Recap
The episode begins with Fly Fish, who considers Bai Cao his savior, being assigned yard cleaning duties at Song Bai Hall by Xiao Ying. However, Fly Fish is more interested in finding a girl he met ten years ago in An Yang. He approaches various people asking if they have seen a cute girl with a round, apple-like face and two pigtails, but receives unhelpful responses. When he asks Xiao Ying, she presses him for more details.
He explains that it was love at first sight, but things have changed over the past decade, and he's suffering from lovesickness. Xiao Ying suggests he draw the girl, which he does, producing a simple stick figure of a small girl with pigtails. Xiao Ying finds it amusing and tells him he will never find anyone with such a drawing.
Fly Fish expresses his longing in a poem, asking where the girl in his dreams is, and Xiao Ying jokingly asks if he time-traveled. Later, Chang An is initially stern with Bai Cao for being late to practice, making her do a headstand against the wall. However, he then cancels the evening training, instructing everyone to rest up to snatch the cheapest plane tickets for Bai Cao's trip to Japan.
That night, the Song Bai members gather to buy tickets online. Xiu Da successfully secures two tickets, leading to joyous celebration among everyone, including Fly Fish, who tries to join in. They raise Red Bull drinks, cheering for Bai Cao and vowing to make Song Bai better, fulfilling Senior Ruo Bai's wish. Meanwhile, Ting Hao calls Guang Ya to inquire about Bai Cao.
He learns that two tickets were secured and Chang An will be guiding Bai Cao throughout the competition in Japan. Guang Ya, recalling Ting Hao's refusal to help Xiao Ying, asks if he hopes Bai Cao succeeds or not. Ting Hao admits he doesn't know. He struggles internally, questioning why he still cares about Bai Cao's affairs after promising himself he wouldn't.
He also expresses conflict, wanting Bai Cao to win but also fearing she might become cold and ruthless like some people at Feng Yun Hall. He concludes that her transformation ultimately depends on her own inner heart. Bai Cao and Chang An prepare to depart for Japan. The Song Bai members see them off, offering words of encouragement. Fly Fish, calling Bai Cao his Savior, repeatedly embraces her, urging her to rest well in Japan.
As they leave, Ting Hao, watching from a distance, reflects again on his conflicted feelings for Bai Cao. Upon arriving in Tokyo, Bai Cao and Chang An find themselves at a location reminiscent of scenes from the "Slam Dunk" manga series. They discuss the manga, with Chang An revealing he also reads comics.
They exchange favorite characters and inspiring quotes from the series, with Bai Cao expressing her wish to be like Akagi Takenori, able to support and make Song Bai better. As they walk to their hotel, Chang An buys takoyaki for Bai Cao. He playfully calls her an "idiot" for biting into the hot snack too quickly and then gently tells her to eat slowly.
He then offers to carry her bag, but Bai Cao declines, reminding him of his injured leg. He insists, telling her she doesn't need to do such things when he is around. In the brief struggle over the bag, Bai Cao accidentally bumps into Chang An's chest. They arrive at a luxurious hotel room, much to Bai Cao's surprise given their budget. Hotel staff deliver exquisite Japanese wagashi, which Bai Cao finds adorable.
Back in An Yang, Fly Fish is revealed to be the masked person who has been attacking various dojos at night, leaving Song Bai flags at the scenes. One night, while Xiao Ying and others are in the women's changing room, a commotion causes them to scream. Fly Fish rushes in, and upon seeing a distinctive necklace around Xiao Ying's neck (a gift from Bai Cao), he exclaims that she is his long-lost childhood friend.
He recites a poem about searching for her and states they became friends at first sight years ago, promising to make her remember. However, Xiao Ying and her friends, thinking he is a pervert, beat him up. The next day, several dojo masters confront Song Bai Hall, presenting the flags left by the masked attacker and demanding an explanation for the "sneak attacks."
Xiao Ying and the others deny any involvement, explaining they were together training and couldn't have done it. Ting Hao intervenes, guaranteeing that Song Bai Hall is not responsible. He argues that all of Song Bai's experts are abroad, and the remaining members, whom he dismissively calls "three-legged cats," lack the ability to challenge so many dojos. He promises to investigate thoroughly and figure out clearly who is behind the attacks, assuring everyone a satisfactory explanation.
The dojo masters agree to give Ting Hao face and await his findings. Xiao Ying asks if they should inform Bai Cao and Chang An about the situation, but Ting Hao tells everyone to keep it a secret to avoid affecting Bai Cao's performance in her competition. At the Pretty Girls Competition press conference in Tokyo, Bai Cao feels nervous seeing Jia Teng Yin Bai He, noting her significant change. Chang An advises her not to be anxious.
He first tells her that "the ignorant are fearless," urging her to treat it as a normal match in An Yang and to forget everything else to focus. He then clarifies his advice, pointing out that since she doesn't understand Japanese anyway, she has nothing to worry about even if the local audience strongly supports Yin Bai He. Later that night, Chang An's leg injury flares up, causing him pain.
Bai Cao, observing his discomfort, remembers how her parents used hot salt packs for injuries when she was little. She goes to the kitchen, heats salt, and applies it to his leg. Chang An notices her burnt finger, which she got while preparing the salt. He gently takes her hand, asking why she is so foolish. Bai Cao explains she was in a hurry seeing him in pain.
She offers to buy him painkillers, but Chang An says the pain is nothing and insists she rest for her match. Afterward, Chang An carefully bandages Bai Cao's burnt finger. As they sleep in separate rooms divided by a cloth screen, Chang An watches Bai Cao's silhouette. He thinks about how her warmth makes him want to be closer, but also fills him with an uneasy feeling.
Back at Song Bai Hall, Fly Fish continues his ardent pursuit of Xiao Ying. He publicly declares his love, claiming they have a childhood marriage contract. Xiao Ying is bewildered, stating she has no memory of him and was very popular as a child with countless boys chasing her. Fly Fish insists he was the "most handsome." He promises to use his heart and real feelings to make her remember and even offers to be her personal nut-cracker. Later, while doing chores, he laments his fate, wondering why both his Savior and the girl he loves are at Song Bai Hall.
