Sweet Tai Chi Episode 5 Recap
> Sweet Tai Chi Recap
Doctor Chen thoroughly explained Wei Chu’s specific habits and preferences to Feng Piaopiao. He mentioned that Wei Chu had always been frail, and this time, his injury was severe, requiring Feng Piaopiao’s diligent care. Doctor Chen detailed Wei Chu’s particularities, including his obsessive-compulsive disorder and a need for a spotless home where everything must be neatly arranged and clothes ironed into perfect squares.
He also stated that Wei Chu disliked anything too fancy, only ate pears, and avoided coriander, garlic, animal viscera, oily, and spicy food. Feng Piaopiao, feeling overwhelmed and like a nanny, questioned if these requirements were related to his leg injury. Doctor Chen simply replied that since she had promised to take care of him, she should do it well.
Wei Chu then added Feng Piaopiao as a phone friend and gave her a door magnetic card, explaining that it was because she had promised to take care of him as an apology. He told her to come cook for him the next morning since she had no classes. Feng Piaopiao wondered how he knew her schedule.
Wei Chu casually added that his refrigerator was empty and she should buy groceries, promising to send her the menu and pay for the ingredients. Though Feng Piaopiao found his demands unrelated to his injury and quite bothersome, she felt responsible for his fractured leg and agreed to everything. Wei Chu offered to escort her, but she declined, simply telling him to come early the next day and to be careful.
The next morning, Feng Piaopiao carried a heavy load of groceries to Wei Chu’s place. On her way, she overheard students discussing Wei Chu’s sudden fracture, mentioning he fell down the stairs and Bai Hailyang was just discharged. She quickly hid her face when she saw Chen Bing and Yang Ningxue, who were also headed to Wei Chu’s to play chess with him.
Just after narrowly avoiding them, she encountered Tan Lin, a senior from the boxing Department and Wei Chu’s neighbor. When a Korla fragrant pear fell from her bag, Tan Lin recognized it as Wei Chu’s favorite. Despite Feng Piaopiao’s repeated denials that she was visiting Wei Chu, Tan Lin confidently concluded her destination, stating he lived next door and was aware of Wei Chu’s recent fracture. He then insisted on accompanying her, claiming it was on his way.
Feng Piaopiao quickly walked, but Tan Lin continued to follow, insisting on seeing her safely inside. Unable to use the door magnetic card in front of him, she reluctantly rang the doorbell. Chen Bing opened the door, allowing Tan Lin to finally leave, seeing no further opportunity to intervene. Inside, Chen Bing and Yang Ningxue, who were playing chess with Wei Chu, immediately noticed the large amount of groceries Feng Piaopiao carried.
Wei Chu, upon seeing Feng Piaopiao, questioned why she rang the doorbell when he had given her a magnetic card. This revelation, combined with her presence, led Chen Bing and Yang Ningxue to believe the school rumors about their relationship were true, and they enthusiastically addressed Feng Piaopiao as "Good sister-in-law," apologizing for their previous misunderstandings.
Feng Piaopiao tried to explain that she was there only because of Wei Chu’s leg, but Wei Chu cut her off, stating he was hungry and telling her to go cook. Sensing the situation, Chen Bing and Yang Ningxue, convinced of a romantic connection, quickly took their leave, telling Feng Piaopiao to take good care of Wei Chu, thus solidifying the rumors of their unusual relationship around the school.
As Feng Piaopiao prepared to cook, she questioned Wei Chu about clarifying their relationship to Chen Bing and Yang Ningxue. Wei Chu, however, sarcastically suggested she explain she was the mysterious Tai Chi master who had fractured his leg. This was Feng Piaopiao’s first time cooking, and her "masterpieces" were met with apprehension. She presented dishes with elaborate names like "Vitality-filled, draw a circle to bless you, happy sunny fried eggs" and "Sweet little celery leaves swimming to your heart."
Wei Chu reluctantly tried the minced meat eggplant, which Feng Piaopiao insisted was a "meat sauce eggplant" despite his correction. He deemed it "very good" and offered her a taste. Feng Piaopiao, eager to try her own cooking, spat it out immediately, realizing she had confused soy sauce with vinegar. Her last hope was the "Shiquan Dabu pig's hoof soup," fortified with red dates, ginseng, angelica, and Medlar.
Wei Chu admitted it was "pretty good," but when Feng Piaopiao tried to sample it, he quickly declared the entire bowl was his, teasing her that she made it so delicious he couldn't share. He eventually asked her to store the remaining soup in the refrigerator for the next meal. Later, to pass the time, Feng Piaopiao challenged Wei Chu to a game, confidently stating her prowess.
Wei Chu, intrigued, allowed her three pieces, only to discover she was playing Gomoku. She triumphantly declared herself the winner, calling him her "defeated general." Exasperated, Wei Chu told her to continue cleaning. Feng Piaopiao, unaccustomed to housework, soon accidentally smashed a valuable coral ornament. That evening, as she helped Wei Chu to bed, she stumbled, nearly falling on him, and awkwardly tried to deflect the moment by commenting on the blue bedsheets.
Wei Chu simply dismissed her, and after she left, a faint smile appeared on his face. Back in her dorm, Feng Piaopiao poured out her frustrations to Xiao Xiao, lamenting that she had spent the entire day washing clothes, cooking, and serving Wei Chu "like a horse." She felt like she was constantly in trouble, now owing him even more.
Xiao Xiao initially believed Wei Chu was bullying her but Feng Piaopiao admitted she was repaying him for burning his clothes. When Xiao Xiao suggested they could manage the debt by eating cheap for two months, Feng Piaopiao revealed she had also broken a valuable coral artifact while cleaning, which she could not afford to replace.
Xiao Xiao then speculated whether their constant proximity might lead to romantic feelings, but Feng Piaopiao vehemently denied it, swearing she would never like Wei Chu, whom she considered the "most annoying, most abnormal, and most self-righteous person" in the world. Xiao Xiao then asked about Bai Hailyang, and Feng Piaopiao shared her concern that she hadn't seen him since he was discharged from the hospital and wondered why he wasn't attending classes.
The following morning, Wei Chu called Feng Piaopiao, waking her up and demanding she bring him breakfast. After an initial reluctance, she relented, realizing he was immobile. Upon her arrival, Wei Chu presented her with a calculated bill for all the damages, including the clothes and the broken coral, totaling an astronomical 280,000 yuan. Feng Piaopiao was shocked by the amount.
Wei Chu then offered an alternative: if she would become his disciple and learn Tai Chi, he would deduct 400 yuan from her debt daily. Feng Piaopiao accused him of lying about not knowing martial arts. Despite her skepticism, she agreed to the terms, but insisted she needed her grandfather's permission. Wei Chu promptly demanded she take him to her house immediately, confident he could persuade her grandfather, emphasizing her urgency to repay her debt.
Feng Piaopiao, agreeing, sighed that she would also need to find a car. Feng Piaopiao called Xiao Xiao, who reluctantly agreed to lend her car, but on her way to pick them up, the car got a flat tire. Bai Hailyang happened to be nearby, noticed the flat, and offered to help Xiao Xiao to the infirmary after she stumbled.
Meanwhile, Wei Chu and Feng Piaopiao were being hounded by a large group of campus reporters, seemingly orchestrated by Tan Lin, who had instructed them to photograph the pair. Seeing their predicament, Tan Lin conveniently appeared and offered them a ride. Feng Piaopiao initially gave him the address of her home, No. 408, Dongjiang Road. However, as Tan Lin drove, Feng Piaopiao noticed they were taking an unfamiliar route.
Tan Lin falsely claimed it was a detour due to traffic, assuring her he knew the destination. When Feng Piaopiao questioned the prolonged journey, Tan Lin finally admitted he had "something to discuss" with Wei Chu and was taking them to a different location. He drove them to a remote, abandoned factory where several members of the boxing Department were already waiting.
As Tan Lin opened the car door to invite Wei Chu out, Feng Piaopiao, anticipating trouble, impulsively pushed Tan Lin. This action, which revealed her unexpected strength, caught Tan Lin by surprise, making him realize she had been "deeply hidden." Feng Piaopiao, remembering her grandfather's strict warning against displaying her martial arts in public, inwardly apologized to him but felt compelled to act, especially since Wei Chu's injury was her responsibility.
