Su Muyun, an aspiring engineer, faced a series of disheartening job rejections. Though his qualifications were initially praised by one interviewer, a sudden phone call from Ouyang Qingxue instantly changed their demeanor, leading to his dismissal. He continued to experience similar rejections from multiple companies, leaving him dejected. Meanwhile, Liu Zihui, a popular online figure, found herself in a heated dispute.
She was furious about "haters" spreading rumors that she was selling counterfeit goods, which caused her follower count to drop significantly from over a million. Lin Di, attempting to calm her, suggested letting sleeping dogs lie, but Liu Zihui vehemently refused, vowing to clear her name and urging him to fight back using her many small accounts.
Lin Di, however, advised her against being impulsive, reminding her how much effort she had poured into her store and warning that she couldn't accomplish anything if she quit on a whim. Despite his efforts, Liu Zihui remained incensed, telling him to get lost. Amidst these struggles, Su Muyun's friend, Qin Yao, showed Xiao Feng his smart home robot project proposal. Impressed by its creativity, Xiao Feng diligently researched school websites and discovered information about an entrepreneurship fund.
She took the initiative to fill out an application form for Su Muyun and even secured a letter of recommendation from a professor, who expressed strong support for young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas. Soon after, Su Muyun received a call from the Mingxian Venture Foundation, informing him that his application had been approved and asking him to come to the school to finalize the procedures. Overjoyed, he immediately shared the good news.
Later, at a hot pot restaurant, Su Muyun mistakenly thanked Qin Yao for applying for the fund. Qin Yao, with a hint of sarcasm, denied being that "warm-hearted." Just then, Xiao Feng arrived and, taking the menu from Qin Yao, crossed out his selections of beef and shrimp. Qin Yao protested, reminding her that Su Muyun's fund had been approved and they were supposed to "burn a hole in his pocket."
Xiao Feng, however, asserted that applying for the fund was incredibly difficult and demanded respect for her hard work. When Qin Yao asked Su Muyun to make the decision, he simply smiled and agreed to follow Xiao Feng's lead. Qin Yao, defeated, mockingly asked the waiter for a pound of dog food to dip in lemon. After the fund procedures were completed, Su Muyun wanted to invite Xiao Feng to dinner at his place.
Unsure how to ask directly, he called Qin Yao, suggesting they order takeout together at his house. Qin Yao, seeing through his indirect approach, told him to be frank if he wanted help inviting Xiao Feng. Eventually, everyone gathered at Su Muyun's home. Noticing Xiao Feng busy in the kitchen, Su Muyun offered to help, much to her surprise. She jokingly asked if she heard him right, noting it was rare for him to have a "conscience awakening."
Su Muyun promised to help her every time she cooked in the future. She then tasked him with cleaning the Napa cabbage, only for him to remove and discard all the outer leaves, prompting her to playfully banish him from the kitchen. As dinner was served, Liu Zihui couldn't resist posting about the delicious food on social media. After the meal, the group relaxed on the sofa, watching television.
When a scary scene appeared, Liu Zihui shrieked and covered her eyes, while Xiao Feng instinctively clutched Su Muyun’s neck. The doorbell then rang, and as Su Muyun moved to answer it, Xiao Feng stopped him, unsure if it was a person or a ghost. Lin Di's voice was heard from outside, and upon hearing it, Liu Zihui, who had been in a cold war with Lin Di over the "hater" incident, started flexing her wrists.
Lin Di then entered, holding his head, complaining that he hadn't known they were watching a ghost movie. He explained that he'd heard about Su Muyun's successful fund application and had bought tickets for a performance at the Grand Theatre to celebrate. However, upon arrival, they discovered it was a "Success Talk" by Dr. Lin, not a play. Liu Zihui angrily confronted Lin Di about the promised play, and he sheepishly admitted he'd bought the wrong tickets.
Xiao Feng diffused the situation, suggesting they might as well stay and listen since they were already there. After the lecture, Liu Zihui pulled Xiao Feng aside and, recalling her past grievances with Su Muyun, advised her on "Love tactics." She urged Xiao Feng to "leave him out in the cold" if Su Muyun confessed his feelings that day, asserting that men don't cherish women who are easily won.
Later, as Su Muyun walked Xiao Feng home, he stopped and confessed his feelings, asking her to be his girlfriend. He then presented a small, exquisite box containing a pair of delicate rings. Seeing her hesitate, he gently placed the box in her hand. Remembering Liu Zihui's advice, Xiao Feng closed the box and told Su Muyun "no." When he anxiously asked why, she playfully explained that she preferred a "gentle angel" while he was a "vicious demon."
Su Muyun, dejected, said he would think of other ways. As Xiao Feng walked ahead, she secretly took the smaller ring from the box and slipped it onto her finger. Then, she held up the box, gesturing for Su Muyun to take it, leaving him disheartened and unaware of her secret. Upon reaching her door, as Xiao Feng was about to enter, Su Muyun called out that she had forgotten something. She turned and ran back, asking what it was.
Suddenly, Su Muyun cupped her face and lowered his head, kissing her deeply. In that moment, time seemed to stand still, filled with a sense of pure happiness. After a while, he told her she had forgotten to hear his last words: that he would strive to become her "gentle angel." Later, Su Muyun treated Liu Zihui and Lin Di to dinner, hoping for some advice. Liu Zihui, ever the strategist, offered him a "trick."
One day, Liu Zihui took Xiao Feng to a mall, where a person in a panda costume was handing out flyers. Xiao Feng picked one up, realizing it was a "Romance Survey," and began to fill it out. She described her ideal partner as someone who "excels in housework and social life," could "make French cuisine" at a "Michelin level," possessed "rich artistic talent," and was "good at singing and dancing," even referencing "K-pop girl groups."
She also noted that those who could embroider were preferred. Most surprisingly, she stated that the confession gift she most desired was a lizard. After she and Liu Zihui left, the panda mascot removed its head, revealing it was Su Muyun. He looked at Xiao Feng's answers, feeling overwhelmed, but determined to follow her instructions. He began taking dance lessons from Liu Zihui, purchased a lizard (earning Qin Yao's respect for his bravery), and diligently studied cooking with a chef.
When everything was prepared, Su Muyun feigned illness and messaged Xiao Feng. She quickly saw through his small trick, knowing he simply wanted to see her. As she changed into a beautiful dress to go, she encountered a sick child in the hospital corridor. Bending down to check on him, her dress became soiled with vomit. She then went to a roadside tailor shop and bought an outer layer to wear over it. As dusk fell and Xiao Feng had yet to arrive, Su Muyun grew increasingly anxious, worried she might stand him up.
