Ouyang Yu returned home, smiling as he looked at photos of himself and Su Nianfeng taken by a store clerk during their shopping trip. His sister, Ouyang Qingxue, noticed his cheerful demeanor and snatched his phone. Upon seeing the photo, she became enraged, questioning her brother's taste and accusing Xiao Feng of being a seductress. She forbade him from seeing Xiao Feng.
Ouyang Yu sternly demanded his phone back, which caused Qingxue to accuse him of snapping at her before she ran upstairs in a huff. Later, Monica also saw the photo. The next day, her expression turned grim when Xiao Feng entered a meeting. Monica immediately confronted Xiao Feng, demanding to know why the pharmaceutical materials report for the Thomas project was late.
Other colleagues whispered that Xiao Feng must have used connections to get assigned to such a crucial project as an intern. Monica insisted that Xiao Feng send the report by the next morning. Xiao Feng explained that there was too much material to process in one night, but Monica was unsympathetic and urged her to work harder to not bring shame to Mingxian University.
While searching for materials in the data room, Xiao Feng stumbled upon a "Share Purchase Contract" involving Zhuoyang Group as the transferor and Ouyang Group as the transferee. She was shocked to see it had been signed just two weeks before her parents' fatal car accident and quickly took photos of it. She later showed the contract to Le Diyin at the hospital, expressing her suspicion that Ouyang Group was connected to her parents' deaths.
Le Diyin urged caution due to the seriousness of the matter and suggested she consult Su Muyun, believing he was the only one who would do everything to help and wanted to find the truth even more than she did. Xiao Feng, thinking Su Muyun wouldn't understand legal matters, decided instead to consult Qin Yao, who was a law major.
Xiao Feng met with Qin Yao, who reviewed the partial contract and noted that while it seemed standard, the purchase price was unusually and illogically low. When Xiao Feng speculated it could be a hostile takeover by Ouyang Group, Qin Yao stated he couldn't make a definite conclusion from a partial document. Xiao Feng resolved to photograph the entire contract, and Qin Yao promised his full support. That evening, Xiao Feng saw Qi Yuan being intimate with another man.
She confronted Qi Yuan, who defiantly said she didn't need to report her activities to Qin Yao and spitefully accused Xiao Feng of seducing Ouyang Yu. Xiao Feng warned her to break up with the man immediately or she would tell Qin Yao, but Qi Yuan challenged her to do so, confident Qin Yao would not leave her. The following day at school, Qi Yuan complained about a drink and dessert Qin Yao brought her.
Observing this, Xiao Feng bluntly told Qi Yuan not to eat it if she didn't like it. To ease the tension, Qin Yao suggested they all have lunch with Su Muyun. At the restaurant, the bickering continued. Qi Yuan mocked Xiao Feng for her "nasty" demeanor and supposed failed crush on Qin Yao. Xiao Feng retorted that being "nasty" was better than being a hypocrite.
She accused Qi Yuan of feigning affection for Qin Yao, pointing out that she made him run errands only to find fault, mocked his friends, and was involved with other men. As Qin Yao’s expression soured, Qi Yuan vehemently denied the accusations and stormed out. Qin Yao followed, taking her to a Japanese restaurant she had long wanted to visit. During their meal, Qi Yuan went to the restroom.
Her phone, left on the table, lit up with an intimate text message. A wave of sadness washed over Qin Yao as he read it, but he concealed his emotions. After the meal, he escorted Qi Yuan back to her apartment. As they shared a farewell hug, her phone rang. She quickly hung up, claiming it was a spam call, but her hurried action and the pain in Qin Yao's eyes revealed his heartbreak.
Xiao Feng discussed the incident with Liu Zihui, lamenting Qin Yao's situation. Meanwhile, Qin Yao stayed near Qi Yuan's residence and watched as she got into a car with another man. Shortly after, he called Xiao Feng, apologizing for his earlier behavior and inviting her for coffee. The next day at the cafe, as Qin Yao went to order drinks, he spotted Qi Yuan walking happily with the other man.
Enraged, Qin Yao rushed over and punched him, who immediately retaliated. Xiao Feng intervened but was forcefully pushed aside by Qin Yao, causing her to fall and scrape her leg. Qi Yuan urged the other man to leave and then tried to explain to Qin Yao. However, Qin Yao turned, saw Xiao Feng on the ground, and immediately pulled away from Qi Yuan to carry Xiao Feng away.
Infuriated, Qi Yuan took photos of them leaving and sent them to Su Muyun, accusing Xiao Feng of being involved with Ouyang Yu and now stealing her boyfriend. Upon seeing the pictures, a visibly upset Su Muyun requested leave from his lab, using the excuse that he had lost his rabbit, and headed towards Xiao Feng's home. At her apartment, Xiao Feng, with her leg bandaged, prepared noodles for herself and Qin Yao.
Qin Yao apologized for injuring her and confessed that he had known about Qi Yuan's infidelity for some time. He explained that a family misfortune during high school had changed her, making her believe that only money could provide security. He had clung to the hope that his consistent kindness would bring her back to her old self, but now, growing emotional, he admitted he was mistaken. Su Muyun arrived just as Qin Yao was leaving.
He entered and, seeing Xiao Feng's injured leg, carefully helped her change the dressing. He then urged her to pack her things and come home with him. When Xiao Feng refused, explaining she needed to care for Le Diyin, Su Muyun grew frustrated. He retorted that she was also a patient—a severe sleepwalker who he needed to care for, reminding her that she had once almost jumped off a building in her sleep.
As she resisted, Su Muyun suddenly grabbed her hand and leaned in close, causing her to become flustered before she pushed him out the door. Concerned about her sleepwalking, Su Muyun remained outside her door all night.
