Even before Lin Nanyi departed from Xi Hai, Tong Xi found herself overwhelmed with emotion, hiding under her covers and weeping uncontrollably as she already missed him. Lin Nanyi confessed to Tong Xi how profoundly important she was to him, stating he didn't want their story to conclude there.
He thanked her for providing him with the best memories of his youth, for her trust and companionship, and assured her that they would meet again soon, urging her to write to him. In her thoughts, Tong Xi acknowledged that she was already missing Lin Nanyi even though he hadn't left town yet. At the bus station, Lin Nanyi revealed he had changed his ticket and waited for her, feeling glad she had arrived.
Tong Xi realized how important he was to her now that he was leaving and regretted not having said a proper goodbye. Lin Nanyi suggested they write letters, just like people used to before mobile phones. Tong Xi wrote a letter, which Lin Nanyi told her to read after boarding. As he prepared to leave, Tong Xi wished him a safe journey. She privately expressed her heartache and uncertainty about their separation, wondering if they were truly parting ways.
Meanwhile, Wang Yiming was deeply upset by Lin Nanyi's departure, tearfully stating how much he would miss his friend. Tao Zhu tried to comfort him, pointing out his swollen eyes and reminding him that Lin Nanyi would surely return. She also gently reminded him that he still had her by his side. After Wang Yiming continued to cry, Tao Zhu embraced him in comfort.
In the quiet days following Lin Nanyi's departure, Tong Xi found solace in her ballet practice, often staying in the studio during her breaks and earning praise from her teacher. She also continued to write letters to Lin Nanyi, filling them with stories and observations from her life, but never sent them, intending to share them with him in person upon his return.
She noticed that the beach they used to frequent felt too windy without him, so she stopped visiting it. In her letters, she mused about whether those who leave ever truly reunite, holding onto the belief that they would, just as the flower language of mint suggested countless encounters. Tong Xi also recounted how Tao Zhu had been busy. Xu Ao had apologized to Tao Zhu and entrusted the Drama Club to her.
Though Tao Zhu seemed proud of her new role, Tong Xi sensed a lingering sadness in her, contemplating the unspoken regrets and mistakes that often mark one's youth. The first summer after Lin Nanyi left arrived quickly, bringing with it more goodbyes. Wei Ze, Xu Ao, and Mi Ya also departed from Xi Hai Town. Mi Ya closed Blue Elephant and flew to France to reunite with Andre, happily posing for selfies under the Eiffel Tower.
Tong Xi adopted Mi Ya's cat, Monroe. Her mother began to put on makeup and go on dates, only for Tong Xi to find out that the man she was seeing was none other than her father, which she jokingly attributed to the "power of love" as his career also saw significant improvement, culminating in the publication of his new book, "Ah Nuan's Travel". As winter arrived, Tong Xi, in her unsent letters, repeatedly wondered when Lin Nanyi would return.
Later, Tong Xi participated in an audition, presenting herself as a ballet major from Xi Hai High School. When asked about her future aspirations, she confessed her simple love for ballet and expressed her desire to continue dancing, regardless of her chosen career path. As she performed a beautiful ballet routine, she reflected on her journey, remembering the nervousness she felt during previous auditions.
She realized that truly knowing one's desires eliminates fear and uncertainty, allowing an ordinary girl to transform into a White Swan. Tong Xi silently thanked Lin Nanyi for helping her discover her true self. One evening, while watering the mint plants at Lin Nanyi's house, Tong Xi grew frustrated that he hadn't replied to her messages. Suddenly, she noticed the lights on inside his house.
Fearing a break-in, she frantically messaged Tao Zhu, urging her to call Wang Yiming and come to the mint garden. To her shock, Lin Nanyi appeared, greeting her casually. Tong Xi was overjoyed and bewildered by his presence, initially suspecting he might have run away from home after an argument with his mother. Lin Nanyi clarified that he had finished his unified exams earlier than her and returned home to surprise her.
He explained that while he had transferred schools, his student status remained in Xi Hai, meaning he still needed to return for the National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) after his art audition. He assured her that they wouldn't have to be separated for the next half-year leading up to the NCEE, and with luck, they could get into the same university, ensuring they would never be apart again. He promised to prepare for the NCEE alongside her.
Tong Xi broke down in tears, admitting how much she had missed him. Lin Nanyi comforted her, embracing her. In her final unsent letter entry for January 20, 2016, Tong Xi joyfully declared that her long wait was over because Lin Nanyi had finally returned. As the NCEE results were announced, a teacher offered parting advice to the graduating students, encouraging them to live well, study hard, love, understand, and accept themselves.
He urged them never to forget their past selves and each other, cherishing those memories. Tong Xi and Lin Nanyi both successfully gained admission to universities in the same city, ready to pursue their dreams together. Meanwhile, Wang Yiming and Tao Zhu also received their admission notices for the same university. As they cycled to meet Tong Xi and Lin Nanyi, Tao Zhu playfully urged Wang Yiming to speed up, but he jokingly complained about being her "laborer."
He then pulled over, claiming to be tired. Tao Zhu, half-joking, lamented their intertwined fate, from childhood neighbors to university classmates. Wang Yiming teased her, then unexpectedly leaned in and kissed her. Surprised, Tao Zhu asked him to do it again, solidifying their relationship. Ni Xiaowan also received her admission notice for her ideal university. With new chapters beginning, everyone looked forward to a brighter future.
