Li Wu arrived at Shengcan, his expression a mix of joy and lingering concern as he sought out Cen Jin. Cen Jin explained that the post was the reward he had asked for, and more importantly, a way to declare their feelings to everyone.
She reminded him of their very first phone call, when she had misheard his name as "gift." Since then, he had truly become a special gift in her life. Moved by her words, Li Wu expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to stand by her side as an equal. The post had not been hidden from anyone, including Cen Jin’s parents. While browsing her phone, Cen Jin's mother accidentally liked the photo.
Panicking because it conflicted with her disapproval of the relationship, she hurriedly called her husband over to help her retract the like. While helping her, Mr. Cen noted that Li Wu seemed like a good person who was genuinely devoted to their daughter. He suggested they should trust Cen Jin's judgment, especially given how much Li Wu cared for her.
Cen Jin's mother, however, remained skeptical, haunted by Cen Jin’s past heartbreak with Wu Fu, and she eventually dropped the subject in frustration. Meanwhile, Chun Chang was reaching her breaking point with her mother’s constant nagging about marriage. When Shen Yiyang appeared unconcerned about the pressure, she lost her temper and pushed him out of the house. That night, she found herself unable to sleep, but when she tried to call him, his phone was switched off.
The next morning, she opened her door to find Shen Yiyang sitting in the hallway. He had stayed there all night because he was worried about her being alone, and his phone had simply run out of battery. Softened by his dedication, Chun Chang asked if he had ever actually thought about marrying her.
Shen Yiyang admitted he didn't care much for formalities, but he made it clear that he had been ready to walk through life with her from the very beginning and would marry her whenever she was ready. One night, Cen Jin found Li Wu working late in the study on the second round of bidding materials. Li Wu was worried about her parents’ disapproval and suggested that he should perhaps visit them to apologize, taking the blame for pursuing her.
Cen Jin found the idea amusing, reminding him that their relationship was a mutual choice and that no one could force her into anything. She believed that time would eventually prove the depth of their feelings to her parents. Around the same time, her mother was also feeling sentimental. Watching her daughter grow from a little girl into a woman who would eventually leave the nest brought Cen Jin's mother to tears. Business challenges soon mounted for both of them. The client wanted something that broke away from conventional thinking. Cen Jin encouraged her exhausted colleagues to give it one last push. During a visit to the jewelry store, she witnessed a woman returning a wedding ring after a divorce, which sparked a new creative direction in her mind. Li Wu became so absorbed in his work that he didn't realize his phone had died.
After a reminder from Shen Yiyang, he charged it and saw several worried messages from Cen Jin. He rushed home to find her asleep on the sofa. While trying to make a late-night snack, a distracted Li Wu forgot to add water to the pot. Cen Jin noticed his stress and learned that Tongchen was struggling to compete with Kejun’s pricing and established industry resources.
She advised him not to fight Kejun on their own turf but to focus on Tongchen’s unique technical strengths instead. Inspired by her insight, Li Wu spent the rest of the night working on a way to lower costs through technical optimization rather than traditional supply chains. The next day, Chun Chang brought milk tea to the research institute to treat Shen Yiyang’s colleagues.
Playfully, she sprayed her perfume in his office and on him, claiming she was marking her territory so other women would know he was taken. Shen Yiyang then took Li Wu and Cheng Rui to a different lab to use specialized equipment to test their new energy-saving modules. Though the initial tests didn't reach the ideal range, they worked with a researcher named Zhao to adjust the parameters. Meanwhile, Cen Jin presented her new "Free the Ring" concept to Kaixi.
She argued that rings shouldn't just be tied to marriage or contracts but should be seen as an empowering accessory for any woman, whether single or divorced. The client was impressed by the fresh perspective and requested a full proposal. Success finally arrived when Zhao called to confirm that the technical test results for Tongchen had passed. Li Wu and Cheng Rui were ecstatic, knowing they finally had a competitive edge for the final showdown.
To help them stay connected, Li Wu gave Cen Jin a walkie-talkie so they could reach each other even if their phones were off. That night, they tested the devices from their respective homes, with Li Wu tracking the distance until he eventually arrived at her door. Unable to sleep due to pre-presentation nerves, Li Wu was comforted by Cen Jin. She taught him a diaphragmatic breathing exercise to help him relax, and they eventually fell asleep together in a warm embrace.
