Dr. Lu, unable to reach Cen Jin, went to her home. In the underground garage, he saw Li Wu walking Cen Jin back to the apartment, with Cen Jin wrapped in Li Wu's jacket. Dr. Lu immediately understood the situation. Once inside, Li Wu insisted on drying Cen Jin's hair, worried she might catch a cold. Seeing his pensive expression, Cen Jin asked if he had something to say.
Li Wu apologized for his past actions, admitting it was wrong to use his health to manipulate her and selfishly try to keep her. He stated that she has the right to like anyone, and he wouldn't interfere. He promised that he would only silently accompany her and never love anyone else. Cen Jin interrupted him, suggesting they get back together. Li Wu was confused, feeling he had no boundaries and would return anytime she beckoned.
Cen Jin explained that her decision might be selfish, but she realized she couldn't ignore his presence and couldn't move forward alone. She confessed her feelings for him and asked if he still wanted to be with her. Li Wu, though overjoyed, also felt distressed, puzzled by his lack of boundaries around her. Cen Jin playfully told him to blame her for not beckoning sooner.
Li Wu then finished his earlier thought, asserting that even if she chose someone else, he would only like her for the rest of his life, never marrying or having another girlfriend, but also never disturbing her. Cen Jin jokingly called his heartfelt confession a "settlement fee." The two then spent a sweet night together. The next day, Cen Jin visited the archery range, where Dr. Lu was practicing.
He noted her improved performance and changed technique, suggesting she no longer overthinks her shots. Cen Jin reflected on how she initially learned archery to find a "sense of order" and a clear goal, but recently realized that letting go of thoughts and following her heart led to better results. Dr. Lu acknowledged her new understanding, comparing it to a difficult choice between two directions where the path not taken turns out to be fruitful, regretting his own late realization.
Cen Jin then shared her purpose for visiting, saying she wanted to talk about them. Dr. Lu, however, already knew her intentions. He revealed that he was leaving soon for further training at Xiehe Hospital, a move that aligned with his career goals for more clinical exposure, and had already signed the papers. They both agreed to remain friends, with Cen Jin wishing him a smooth promotion.
Later, during a discussion meeting between Shengcan and Tongchen companies, Li Wu unexpectedly attended, sitting beside Cen Jin. Under the table, he held her hand, ignoring her text message telling him to be mindful. After the meeting, they went to a restaurant they used to frequent. Cen Jin ordered a few of Li Wu's favorite dishes.
The restaurant owner recognized Li Wu, recalling that he used to come often with Cen Jin and had gone on a "study tour in Africa," jokingly asking why he hadn't gotten darker. Li Wu confirmed he was back, playing along with the "African study tour" cover story. Meanwhile, a colleague gossiped with Chun Chang about Shen Yiyang, speculating if something had happened between them after he sent her home.
The colleague mentioned that Xiao Jun had heard Shen Yiyang had a previous relationship that "didn't work out in the end" and had avoided romantic involvement since, until recently seeing him "intimate" with Chun Chang. Shen Yiyang then arrived at the bar, overhearing Chun Chang's response to the rumors.
Chun Chang, aware he was listening, stated she wasn't the type to "stick to one tree" in a relationship and found the "ambiguous and teasing" phase the most interesting part of love, rather than being officially together. Her colleague urged her not to lie to herself. The following day at work, Cen Jin sported a popular couple's keychain.
Shen Yun immediately noticed it and teased Cen Jin, asking who her new boyfriend was and accusing her of having a good mood that made her appreciate the weather. Cen Jin remained coy, but Shen Yun, familiar with the brand from previous work, insisted on knowing. Cen Jin later spoke to Li Wu on the phone, asking when he had changed her keychain. He admitted to doing it the previous night without her noticing.
She playfully called it childish, but he argued it made them feel closer. Chun Chang later encountered Shen Yiyang while buying king crabs. She pressed him, asking why he had been "ignoring" her and not contacting her, wondering if she had upset him. She confronted him about his "awkward" behavior, stating that intimacy between adults is "quite common" and she wasn't asking him to be responsible.
Shen Yiyang, however, replied that "this kind of thing" was "precious" to him, not just "normal." Li Wu and Cen Jin began living together. One morning, Li Wu prepared an elaborate breakfast for Cen Jin and asked her to get his coffee. On the counter, Cen Jin found a gift. Li Wu revealed it was for their one-month anniversary.
Cen Jin expressed her happiness but told him he didn't need to constantly provide surprises, calling them "hidden surprises" that were nice but not necessary, as he himself was already the greatest gift. He also mentioned he would be going on a business trip soon and had prepared two days' worth of meals for her in advance. Suddenly, they heard Cen Jin's mother, Mrs. Chen, at the door.
Panicked, Li Wu quickly dumped his breakfast, hid the gift, and rushed to hide in the bedroom. Mrs. Chen entered, bringing some clothes Cen Jin had left at home, and insisted on putting them in the bedroom. Cen Jin desperately tried to intervene, claiming her room was too messy, but her mother persisted. In the bedroom, Cen Jin couldn't immediately find Li Wu, but then discovered him crammed into the closet.
Startled, she was pulled in by Li Wu for a kiss. In the living room, Mrs. Chen asked Cen Jin for a clay pot to make spare rib soup. Cen Jin, flustered, helped her. Mrs. Chen commented on the low air conditioning and Cen Jin's oversized shirt, noticing a missing button, which Cen Jin realized Li Wu had pulled off during their earlier kiss.
Cen Jin tried to get her mother to leave by claiming a colleague was coming over to discuss work. Mrs. Chen, however, planned to stay in Cen Jin's room. Cen Jin clarified that the colleague was coming to "their" home, forcing Mrs. Chen to agree to leave. Before doing so, Mrs. Chen went to the bathroom to wash her hands, where she found men's face wash.
She then questioned Cen Jin about her relationship with Dr. Lu, noting Cen Jin's unconvincing answer and the two sets of plates and chopsticks in the sink from breakfast. Realizing her mother was onto them, Cen Jin's mom sarcastically wished her well with her "ordinary colleague" and departed. Once she was gone, Li Wu emerged from the closet, jokingly asking if Cen Jin had enough corn, and saying the experience was "thrilling."
Cen Jin apologized for the hiding, explaining that her mother had always treated Li Wu like a son and would not accept their relationship, especially given the age difference. She then scolded him for his "ant-like moving" of personal belongings, which had already made her mother suspicious, and told him to pack up his things immediately before his business trip.
After Li Wu left for his business trip, Cen Jin met with Chun Chang, who observed that Cen Jin looked "much healthier," clearly "nourished" by love. Cen Jin then discovered an "Exclusive Puppy" app on her phone, which stated it would find "hidden surprises" in her life every day. She realized Li Wu had installed it when he borrowed her phone earlier that morning.
Chun Chang, amused by Li Wu's cleverness in dating, wondered what kind of surprise the app would bring. Cen Jin briefly fantasized that the surprise might be Li Wu waiting for her at home, before Chun Chang reminded her that he was on a business trip.
