She further explains that Xia Deshui's autopsy showed a blackened throat and teeth but a normal abdomen, suggesting post-death poisoning to frame Xu Ziyan. Xue Mu, feigning support, praises Xu Ziyan as an excellent doctor and highlights that Xia Deshui was his wife's uncle, making the accusation unlikely. Xia Yubing then declares that Xia Yaozu is the true murderer and insists he be summoned to reveal the truth.
Xia Lan quickly interjects, trying to defend her brother, but eventually admits that Xia Yaozu is missing. Jiang, after some hesitation, takes the food. He then asks Xia Lan for her handkerchief, claiming he needs to clean his face. Xia Lan gives it to him, and he secretly uses it to pass a message. He tells her to inform Xue Mu that he has not revealed anything and that Xue Mu need not worry.
