A new day began with Xu Jiamu and Qiao Anhao on their way to school. Jiamu, beaming, told Qiao Anhao he was excited to introduce a very important new friend, the "aloof genius" she often heard him mention. Qiao Anhao was surprised to find this important new friend was none other than Lu Jinnian, the handsome boy she had briefly met before.
With both Jiamu and Jinnian now at the school, they became instant campus sensations, their good looks making them the subject of much whispered discussion among the female students. Qiao Anhao found herself very interested in the outstanding and academically gifted Lu Jinnian. Later, as Jiamu and Qiao Anhao walked through the campus like good friends, they were abruptly stopped by the vivacious Lin Qianqian.
She dramatically declared her love for Jiamu, even revealing his name tattooed on her ankle, stating she wanted everyone to know he was hers. Jiamu, exasperated, tried to dissuade her, even joking that if he tattooed Bill Gates' name, he wouldn't become rich, and asked her to stop bothering him. Lin Qianqian, however, was undeterred, dismissing Qiao Anhao as an "ordinary girl." To escape Lin Qianqian's persistent advances, Jiamu impulsively proclaimed Qiao Anhao his girlfriend.
Lin Qianqian, furious, warned Jiamu that he would eventually be hers. She was introduced as a new transfer student in Qiao Anhao's class and, upon seeing Qiao Anhao, ominously stated that her "nightmare will be here." That evening, Lu Jinnian, returning home after a part-time job, was confronted by his father, Xu Niande. Lu Jinnian’s demeanor was cold, asserting he only had a mother.
Xu Niande attempted to bridge the gap, saying their past conflicts were between the older generation and had nothing to do with Lu Jinnian, and that he wanted to compensate for his debt to Lu Jinnian and his mother. Lu Jinnian vehemently refused, asking if an apology could erase everything his father had done. He accused Xu Niande of enjoying a life of luxury while his mother suffered, swearing he would never forgive him.
Xu Niande expressed his helplessness, insisting that Lu Jinnian carried his blood. Lu Jinnian retorted that his father disgusted him and told him not to mention his mother. Xu Niande then offered him a million yuan check, hoping Lu Jinnian would stop working and focus on his studies. Lu Jinnian tore the check, declaring that one million yuan could not buy his forgiveness and demanded his father leave.
Alone, Lu Jinnian recalled his mother's final moments in the hospital, reinforcing his resolve: he would walk his own path and needed no one's help. The following day, Qiao Anhao and Zhao Meng were assigned to clean the school library. Zhao Meng, lamenting the forgotten "cold palace" of a library, questioned why the "eldest miss of Qiao Family Group" was doing manual labor. Lu Jinnian arrived, and as Qiao Anhao stood on a stool cleaning, she nearly fell.
Lu Jinnian swiftly rushed forward, catching her in his arms. Recognizing him as the "hottie," she thanked him. Zhao Meng remarked that their reunion felt like fate, sent by Cupid. Qiao Anhao, following Zhao Meng’s advice to engage him with a yes/no question about a popular topic, asked Lu Jinnian if he liked Beckham, to which he replied, "Yes." Later, Lu Jinnian helped Qiao Anhao with a challenging physics problem from her exam, meticulously explaining the solution.
As he did so, Qiao Anhao gazed at him, captivated. During this time, Qiao Anyi, Qiao Anhao's younger brother, got into trouble with some thugs at an internet café. Xu Jiamu rushed to his aid, challenging the thugs to a PK game. Jiamu skillfully defeated them in several rounds. Showing magnanimity, Jiamu not only refused to take any money but also befriended the lead thug. That evening, Lu Jinnian offered to ride his bicycle to take Qiao Anhao home.
However, her family's driver arrived to pick her up, much to Lu Jinnian's quiet disappointment. That night, Qiao Anhao’s smile lingered in his mind, leaving him unable to forget her. The next morning, Qiao Anhao, still wobbly on a bicycle, called out to Lu Jinnian on his way to school. She claimed she was biking for exercise, though it was evident she was new to it, even denying it when Lu Jinnian asked.
Lu Jinnian gently steadied her handlebars with one hand, helping her steer. To prolong their time together, Qiao Anhao even joined him for breakfast, forcing herself to eat two meals until she was uncomfortably full. Meanwhile, Lin Qianqian continued to pester Xu Jiamu. Qiao Anhao asked Jiamu how he had attracted such a persistent admirer.
Jiamu revealed that he had once intervened when Lin Qianqian was being harassed by thugs at a billiard club, who were also trying to charge her an exorbitant fee for a broken cue. He jokingly lamented that he wouldn't have helped if he knew she would become so infatuated. Lin Qianqian's pursuit escalated, with banners professing her love for Xu Jiamu appearing publicly at school, much to his chagrin.
In the classroom, Lu Jinnian continued to tutor Qiao Anhao in physics. As night fell, the lights suddenly went out. Qiao Anhao, unable to see in the dark, panicked. Lu Jinnian, taking her hand, calmly led her out of the classroom. Unfortunately, a patrolling teacher spotted them holding hands and immediately assumed they were involved in an early romance.
