Out Of The Dream Episode 7 Recap
> Out Of The Dream Recap
Yu Fei was engrossed in studying, reciting philosophical concepts about essence being simple and hidden. On her phone, she saw a friend request from Bai Feili. She deliberated, wondering if accepting it would imply interest or make her seem casual, yet refusing it would appear petty. Deciding to focus on her books, she was then interrupted by a phone call from Shuji. Meanwhile, Brother Dao, dressed in a bulky mascot costume, was distributing flyers for the X Club.
He was publicly ridiculed and taunted by Young Master Wei and his group, who reminded him of past grievances and insulted him, even throwing his costume to the ground. Yu Fei, witnessing Brother Dao's humiliation, felt upset and called her junior fellow apprentice, Lanting, for help.
Lanting, who had become a popular internet celebrity, was already live streaming, showcasing Beijing Opera content and offering 100-yuan unlimited coupons for X Club's "Beijing Opera Night," along with discounts for Daydream Space milk tea. Yu Fei briefly joined him, haggling over payment in "spicy chicken wings," but Lanting insisted on "milk tea" as currency. Yu Fei, needing to return to her studies, left quickly, even forgetting the promised milk tea.
That evening, a disheartened Brother Dao returned to the club, only to be astonished by a large crowd of enthusiastic older patrons. The manager, however, was far from pleased, scoffing at the idea of "old men and women" generating significant revenue and sarcastically suggesting they sell "wolfberry tea of 1982." He angrily reprimanded Brother Dao for his "stupid idea."
Soon after, Lanting, on stage, announced the "Beijing Opera Night" and introduced Yu Fei as the special guest, revealing that she had orchestrated the entire event to help Brother Dao. Yu Fei captivated the audience with her Beijing Opera performance, earning praise from Bai Feili's grandmother, who was surprised by her youthful talent and strong voice.
Yu Fei invited the audience to sing along, and the grandmother eagerly joined, exuberantly declaring she would order "half a dozen Remy Martin," a boast quickly dismissed as a joke by the grandfather. As Yu Fei left the stage, the grandmother's sharp eye caught her bag, recognizing it as the one carried by the girl who had left Bai Feili's house that morning.
The grandfather, attempting to pursue Yu Fei, strained his back in the process, forcing the grandmother to stop him. After the performance, Brother Dao expressed his gratitude to Yu Fei, who affirmed their "lifelong friendship," a statement that left him visibly heartbroken. They shared breakfast, during which Yu Fei shared a personal philosophy: "someone told me that you should stick to your dream, and do it insanely well."
Brother Dao noted Yu Fei's change, to which she playfully responded that she was now his "Fei Ge." He confirmed that her efforts had helped him pass his performance assessment. The following morning, the X Club's manager tried to fire Brother Dao for his unconventional event. However, the club's boss intervened, scolding the manager for neglecting his employee and allowing him to be bullied.
The boss praised Brother Dao’s creative "Beijing Opera Night" theme but pointed out its immature planning, specifically the lack of safety measures like AEDs and safety mats for the elderly audience. Impressed by Brother Dao’s potential, the boss challenged him to achieve a monthly profit of one million to earn a promotion. Meanwhile, a weary Bai Feili had waited up all night because his grandparents had forgotten their keys after their late-night dance party.
He complained about their "punk life" disrupting his sleep, while his grandmother playfully blamed the grandfather for excessive drinking, mentioning that Brother Dao had even given them "three bottles of shooter." The grandmother also remarked that she should have taken her husband to the club to hear Yu Fei sing.
Yu Fei experienced a flashback to her childhood, recalling a painful memory of her sick mother, Yan Peishan, desperately begging her father, Yu Qing, for help, revealing Yu Fei was his daughter. Yu Qing's then-partner, Ms. Qin, reacted with anger and eventually left him, giving him all her possessions. In the present, Yu Fei was at her father’s Yu’s TCM Clinic to deliver money.
She encountered Ms. Qin, who still harbored resentment and made a cutting remark about Yu Fei's deceased mother, sparking an argument. Ms. Qin then threw away food intended for Yu Qing. Shortly after, Bai Feili's grandparents arrived with Bai Feili, intending for Yu Qing to treat the grandfather's sprained back. The grandparents reminded Bai Feili that Yu Qing had helped him with a fracture when he was a child.
Bai Feili, making an excuse about work, tried to leave, but his grandparents insisted, teasing him about his childhood fear of Doctor Yu. Despite their protests, Bai Feili left, promising to return and pick them up. Inside the clinic, Bai Feili's grandparents, drawn by the delicious aroma, found Yu Qing enjoying a bowl of Yu Fei's homemade noodles. They were surprised to discover Yu Fei was Yu Qing’s daughter and eagerly requested some noodles for themselves.
After eating, they cleverly manipulated Yu Fei into driving them home, claiming Grandpa's injury left them unable to shop or cook. Yu Fei, recognizing Bai Feili’s house, tried to leave at the doorstep, but the grandparents insisted she come inside and cook for them. As Bai Feili descended the stairs, he was startled to see Yu Fei, lost his footing, and tumbled down. Yu Fei, in turn, tripped over him, landing on top in a comical and awkward embrace.
Bai Feili’s phone fell, and he picked it up, deliberately activating a "Find My Phone" feature and accepting Yu Fei’s pending WeChat friend request. He then proceeded to list a multitude of specific dietary preferences and explained that his kitchen appliances lacked instruction manuals, subtly inviting her to ask him for help. Yu Fei, maintaining her composure, brushed off his offer. The grandparents, observing this exchange, noted their "familiarity" and "playing hard to get," pleased with their matchmaking efforts.
That evening, Yu Fei meticulously scheduled her time, calculating every minute spent on daily tasks and at Bai Feili's home, aiming to carve out more hours for English study. She then realized her English notebook was missing. Meanwhile, Bai Feili hesitated to send Yu Fei a WeChat message, unsure of what to say. His grandparents, delighted with their matchmaking progress, delivered Yu Fei's forgotten notebook to him.
Bai Feili realized it wasn't his, and upon discovering a torn page, recalled drawing Yu Fei in a similar notebook at Shuji’s shop, suspecting this was the very one. Yu Fei, however, had already had the foresight to tear out that specific page. Bai Feili, still holding Yu Fei's notebook hostage, texted her, demanding a "ransom" in the form of daily dinners and occasional lunches cooked at his house. He also playfully questioned her English study methods.
Yu Fei, struggling desperately with English and contemplating starving rather than learning more words, warned Bai Feili not to peek at her notebook, hinting at hidden content. She eventually resorted to a "desperate measure," sharing a website offering "black technology learning methods" for free if she could gather 500 likes on the shared post. Later, Hao Shi and Bai Feili, while at work, clicked on the website Yu Fei had shared.
To their dismay, the video, endlessly looping a promotion for "black technology learning methods" for 500 likes, refused to close. Hao Shi panicked about their boss catching them slacking off, but they managed to mute the incessant audio. Bai Feili, intrigued, wondered what strange "virus" Yu Fei was engaging with.
