Gao Hai visited the alley, bringing butterfly crackers for Pan Yue. Gao Jie's grandfather was furious upon seeing Gao Hai, exclaiming, "Who is your dad? You still have the face to call me dad? !" He accused Gao Hai of abandoning his conscience and causing Pan Yue's current condition. Gao Hai expressed deep remorse, claiming to have lived in regret for his actions towards Pan Yue and Xiao Jie.
However, the grandfather refused to listen, pulling Pan Yue away from Gao Hai, insisting they had no relationship. Pan Yue, however, clung to Gao Hai, wanting the crackers. Gao Hai apologized before leaving. Later, Gao Jie went to the jewelry exhibition where Yu Zhi was waiting for her outside. She told him there was no need to enter, and he didn't need to waste his effort, as she had only come to return his invitation.
Yu Zhi pressed her, asking if she was afraid of remembering their time in the rainforest or unwilling to admit her feelings. Gao Jie admitted to having feelings for him during their rainforest experience, describing it as an "illusion" due to special circumstances that had now faded, making them incompatible. Yu Zhi countered by recalling her previous criticisms of him, where she had called his methods immature and him an unnecessary burden.
He then referenced their kiss, questioning if that was "incompatible." Gao Jie then stated his character was arrogant, which made them unsuitable. Yu Zhi retorted that every man is arrogant in front of the woman he likes. When he pressed for her reason for rejection, Gao Jie insisted there was no real reason, she simply didn't want to date. She suggested he find someone who did, instead of "clinging" to her and "testing" her.
Yu Zhi firmly stated, "Because the person I like is you." Shortly after, Gao Jie received a frantic phone call from Pan Yue, who was scared because her grandfather was angry. Gao Jie rushed home, where Pan Yue ran into her arms. Gao Jie's grandfather was still upset about Gao Hai's visit. Gao Jie saw Yu Zhi still waiting outside her house and understood he had witnessed her family's situation.
She reiterated that they were unsuitable because her family would be a "problem for most people" and she didn't want her family to trouble anyone. She explained she didn't date to protect her family and avoid having anyone regret a decision to be with her. Yu Zhi, however, emphasized that she was making a decision on his behalf without hearing his answer.
He declared he understood her life and was even envious of her, stating that her "small and incomplete" family, with her mother's bond, was a blessing he longed for. He didn't see her family as a burden but as everything he was missing. Gao Jie was surprised by his sincerity but still asked him not to waste his time on her, saying they were not "in the same world" and she desired a relaxed life for him.
Yu Zhi then pulled her into a passionate kiss, declaring that if she still wanted to reject him, he would "never give up on my pursuit." He then took out a bracelet, explaining it was a gift from his mother which he always kept with him. He told Gao Jie that when it broke during climbing, he didn't want anyone else to touch it.
He revealed that in this world, two women were important to him: his mother, and Gao Jie, asking her to fix it because she was as important to him as his mother. Gao Jie, somewhat overwhelmed, shyly returned home. Yu Yi arrived at Yu Zhi's home, his face stern, ready for a serious discussion. Yu Zhi, however, appeared nonchalant, greeting his brother with a playful attitude and offering him water.
Yu Zhi explained that he had important matters to attend to the previous night, which was why his phone was off and he missed their appointment. Yu Yi, undeterred by Yu Zhi's smiles, revealed that Mu Ziyun had been influencing their grandmother to invest all company funds into the Plain Gold Group's gold futures, a high-risk venture.
He warned that if they failed to secure cooperation with Wu Xiaoci and Gao Hui, their Inlay Group would likely be reformed, leaving them with no funds to compete. Yu Yi demanded to know what was so important that Yu Zhi would ditch Gao Hui twice, jeopardizing their future. Yu Zhi confessed that he had fallen in love with a girl who was "as important as my life."
Despite Yu Yi's disbelief and urging to be more rational, Yu Zhi promised that his personal affairs would not harm their business and that he would handle Gao Hui's side of things. Meanwhile, preparations for the Annual Ingenuity Jewellery Designer Contest were underway.
Si Cheng expressed concern about Gao Jie's design, noting that the competition was highly focused on a designer's understanding of the work, requiring them to lead a team to complete the intricate inlay within a strict time limit. Gao Jie's design, inspired by a legendary bluebird with full diamond inlay, presented a significant challenge. Si Cheng worried about the feasibility of completing the modeling, wax carving, and final inlay in such a short period.
On the other hand, Gao Hui and Wu Xiaoci were also focused on the time constraints. Gao Hui declared her refusal to lower design standards for the sake of completeness, intending to use this victory to demonstrate her abilities. Wu Xiaoci supported her, revealing she had brought in a top production team from Europe.
Gao Hui, however, was still concerned about finding the perfect main stone, fearing competitors might use precious stones to gain marks if they compromised on design complexity. Just then, Yu Zhi arrived at Gao Hui's door, inviting her for tea and bearing a gift as an apology for his previous absence. Gao Hui, initially cold and stating her time was too precious for his "unpredictable invites," softened upon seeing the gift.
It was a magnificent ruby, a gemstone she had long desired. Yu Zhi presented it as both an apology and a blessing for her to shine in the Annual Ingenuity Jewellery Designer Contest. Recognizing his true intent to secure Cilian's cooperation, Gao Hui accepted the gift and then asked Yu Zhi to be her assistant for the competition, to which he readily agreed.

Upon learning of the incident, Chen Pinzhen angrily confronted Yu Zhi. Gao Jie's suspicion of Yu Zhi intensified. Later, finding Yu Zhi waiting outside her home, Gao Jie, without fully breaking ties, questioned him about his whereabouts, to which he vaguely replied that he was "having dinner with a client." Enraged, Gao Jie shut the door on him. Meanwhile, Yu Yi sought more resources from their grandmother, who insisted he first finalize the cooperation with Wu Xiaoci.
Yu Zhi sought solace in a bar. Yu Yi noticed his brother's troubled mind but Yu Zhi was reluctant to confide. Yu Yi then produced the list of the competition's top five finalists. Upon seeing Gao Jie's name on the list, Yu Zhi immediately called her, intending to congratulate her, but her phone was switched off. Meanwhile, Zhou Zong, eager to curry favor with Wu Xiaoci, compiled a dossier on Gao Jie, praising her while subtly undermining her.
Wu Xiaoci noticed that Gao Jie's address was the same as it had been years ago, raising her suspicions: was Gao Hai secretly meeting Pan Yue? Unable to contain her curiosity, Wu Xiaoci went to the alley. There, she witnessed Gao Hai's arrival. Gao Jie's grandfather, enraged by Gao Hai's presence, nearly resorted to violence, refusing any compensation and ordering him to leave. However, Pan Yue wished for Gao Hai to stay and draw with her.
Gao Hai then offered a bank card, hoping the grandfather and Pan Yue would accept it. The grandfather vehemently refused, asserting that Gao Hai's debt to Pan Yue and Gao Jie could never be repaid with money. He pulled Pan Yue home, but she became upset and threw a tantrum. Wu Xiaoci, having observed the entire interaction from a distance, instructed someone to investigate the house.
Si Cheng warned Gao Jie to be cautious, especially regarding Zhou Zong, with whom she had past grievances. When Yu Zhi saw Gao Jie and Si Cheng in a seemingly close moment, he angrily called her. Gao Jie noticed Yu Zhi behind her but ignored him, instead pulling Si Cheng back towards the company building. Later, Chen Pinzhen called Gao Jie, pleading for help to cancel her rock climbing club membership with Yan Kai.
Suspecting it might be another one of Yu Zhi's schemes, Gao Jie nevertheless rushed to her friend's aid. Si Cheng assigned Fancai's most experienced master to Gao Jie's team. Gao Jie reluctantly supported Chen Pinzhen against Yan Kai. As the two sides were embroiled in their dispute, Yu Zhi arrived. The argument between Chen Pinzhen and Yan Kai quickly shifted, turning into a significant misunderstanding between Yu Zhi and Gao Jie.
Yu Zhi, angered by the escalating misunderstandings with Gao Jie, complained to Yan Kai about her perceived misbehavior, ultimately revealing his jealousy. Yan Kai advised Yu Zhi to apologize proactively. Without hesitation, Yu Zhi shamelessly called Gao Jie, but she mercilessly hung up on him. Gao Jie had no energy to deal with Yu Zhi, as she needed to fully prepare for the next day's competition.
