Nice to Meet You Episode 47 Recap
> Nice to Meet You Recap
Gao Jie regretfully approached Yu Zhi, seeking his help to rescue Mu Ziyun. Upon hearing this, Yu Zhi was enraged. He recounted how Mu Ziyun had framed him numerous times, claiming she deserved her predicament. Gao Jie acknowledged his feelings but implored him to reconsider, emphasizing that Mu Ziyun had been like a mother to her and that her current situation was dire.
Yu Zhi, hurt by Gao Jie's unwavering loyalty to Mu Ziyun, recalled being framed by her for stealing rubies, which led to his grandmother sending him overseas. He asserted that Mu Ziyun was responsible for Rui Hua's downfall, the many setbacks in their relationship, and even Gao Jie's loss of her design ability. He asked why she should be forgiven for any of these actions.
Gao Jie apologized for upsetting him, but reiterated that Mu Ziyun was family to her, the one who raised her, and she couldn't simply stand by. She pleaded with Yu Zhi, asking him to consider this the only time she would ask for such a favor. Yu Zhi countered by asking if he could, just once, be her only choice, before finally refusing her request. Later, Yu Guanghua brought soup dumplings, mentioning that both Yu Zhi and Grandma enjoyed them.
Grandma, having spent time with Yu Guanghua during her hospital stay, commented that he wasn't a bad person, just in need of attention and opportunities. Yu Zhi then shared with Grandma that he and Gao Jie were back together, explaining that he had investigated and learned Gao Jie had not helped Mu Ziyun as they had previously misunderstood. He also mentioned their plans to marry soon.
Grandma was pleased that Gao Jie was a good person at heart and advised Yu Zhi to cherish her. However, Yu Zhi confessed that he and Gao Jie had a heated argument last night regarding Mu Ziyun's gem-stealing incident. Grandma stated her disbelief that Mu Ziyun would steal gems, given their long history, suggesting Gao Jie likely felt the same. She then questioned if Yu Zhi could truly let go of the past for Gao Jie's sake.
At work, Gao Jie was visibly distracted, constantly checking her phone. Her colleague, Chen Pinzhen, noticed and jokingly asked if she had a date or had fought with Yu Zhi. Gao Jie revealed that something had happened to her aunt, and she had asked Yu Zhi for help, admitting it was inconsiderate of her. She worried he was angry, as he hadn't messaged her since.
Chen Pinzhen reminded her that Yu Zhi and Mu Ziyun were enemies and that asking him to help his most disliked person would naturally upset him. She hoped they wouldn't break up again over this, recalling their past conflicts because of Mu Ziyun. Si Cheng then approached Gao Jie, asking to discuss a project vital to the future of Shui Zhiyao and his own personal decisions.
At the restaurant, a waiter informed them they were lucky customers and would receive a gift if one of them played the piano. Gao Jie, assuming neither could play, was surprised when Si Cheng volunteered. He played a piece beautifully, much to her astonishment. Afterward, the waiter presented Gao Jie with a bouquet of roses and a card, which contained Si Cheng's confession: "Gao Jie, be my girlfriend. Okay?"
Si Cheng explained he had practiced the song for a long time, hoping to learn how to be romantic and create surprises, despite feeling rigid and boring. He expressed his deep, long-hidden love for her and asked for a chance. Gao Jie, though grateful for his past kindness—including rescuing her in the rainforest and inviting her to Shui Zhiyao during her lowest point—gently refused. She told him someone else more deserving of his love existed, but that person wasn't her.
Si Cheng then wondered if things would have been different if he had accompanied her to the mines. Gao Jie affirmed that her feelings for Yu Zhi were fated to remain unchanged, regardless of circumstances. She apologized and left, leaving Si Cheng with tears in his eyes as he watched her depart. Upon returning home, Gao Jie was distraught to find Yu Zhi packing a suitcase.
She frantically apologized, trying to pull his clothes out of the luggage and stuff them back into the wardrobe, blocking the door. Yu Zhi calmly asked if she thought he wouldn't leave if she acted that way. Gao Jie, tearfully, begged him not to be angry and not to leave, insisting her home was only where he was.
Yu Zhi explained that he was going to see Mu Ziyun, revealing that he knew if he didn't go, Gao Jie would go alone, and he couldn't bear to let her worry. He shared that Grandma had told him that maturity meant letting go of the past, and that time heals all wounds. Grandma had also confessed to being the "biggest sinner," having forced Yu Zhi's parents into a loveless marriage that led to constant arguments and misery.
Grandma hoped Yu Zhi wouldn't cling to the grudges of past generations or repeat his parents' tragedy. Yu Zhi acknowledged the truth in Grandma's words and, moved by Gao Jie's love, declared that he would help Mu Ziyun to find out the truth, as a way to put an end to his own past and begin a new life with Gao Jie. Gao Jie asked if he had truly let go of his old grudge.
He admitted he hadn't fully, but he was willing to try. Overwhelmed, Gao Jie embraced him and pledged her unwavering support for all his future decisions, then kissed him. Yu Zhi then urged her to let him finish packing, as he was running late. Yu Yi and Gao Hui were shopping for groceries. Gao Hui happily filled their cart with snacks, remarking how relaxed she felt without Mu Ziyun's interference.
She playfully suggested her indulgent eating was to help Yu Yi by eliminating potential competitors. While browsing, Gao Hui paused at a cake display and subtly hinted that Yu Yi should try making one. Yu Yi, who couldn't even cook a simple dish, was hesitant. Gao Hui then complained about the lack of romance and surprises in their relationship, lamenting his practical nature.
To her surprise, Yu Yi suddenly lifted her into the shopping cart and enthusiastically pushed her through the aisles to gather ingredients for making a cake. Yu Zhi arrived at Mu Ziyun's detention facility, and she was visibly surprised to see him, especially when he indicated he was there to help her. Mu Ziyun, suspecting a trick, lashed out, claiming all the Yu family members were terrible.
Yu Zhi, however, clarified that he and Gao Jie would no longer be influenced by her. He explained his presence was solely to prevent Gao Jie from having any regrets, as Mu Ziyun was family to her. This revelation seemed to touch Mu Ziyun. Yu Zhi encouraged her to hold on for a few more days, promising to speak with the mine owner.
As he prepared to leave, Mu Ziyun, with difficulty, finally managed to offer a sincere "thank you for your trouble," to which Yu Zhi subtly nodded. Gao Hai met with Wu Xiaoci to discuss divorce. Wu Xiaoci adamantly refused, angrily accusing him of betraying her by mentioning plagiarism to Mu Ziyun, which had caused Gao Hui to doubt her.
Gao Hai was taken aback but maintained that their differing values had made their marriage unsustainable, and their home had long lost its warmth. Despite Wu Xiaoci's continued refusal, Gao Hai left the divorce papers, stating that their marriage was over regardless of whether she signed them. He vowed to care for Pan Yue until she fully recovered. At dinner, Yu Yi was preoccupied with his phone. Gao Hui complained that Yu Zhi wasn't helping him with work. Yu Yi explained that Yu Zhi was busy investigating Mu Ziyun's case, which immediately caused Gao Hui to panic.
