Nice to Meet You Episode 43 Recap
> Nice to Meet You Recap
Grandma, now awake, lay in her hospital bed, filled with regret, believing it was all her fault for the company's downfall. Yu Zhi, on his knees by her side, also felt immense guilt. Grandma asked about the company's condition, to which Yu Zhi could only apologize. Director Ye Siqiang visited Mu Ziyun to submit his resignation.
Mu Ziyun, acknowledging the company's current turmoil, attempted to promote him to the chief designer of the Inlay Group, giving him full authority over designs. However, Ye Siqiang was resolute in his decision to leave, stating that without President Yu Zhi, he had no reason to remain in the Inlay Group.
Mu Ziyun remarked on Yu Zhi's apparent care for his employees, but Ye Siqiang clarified that his loyalty was to his own heart, not solely to Yu Zhi, and urged her to approve his resignation. Mu Ziyun later met with Gao Jie, informing her that she now controlled Rui Hua and needed Gao Jie's help to rebuild, offering her the position of Chief Designer.
Gao Jie, however, questioned if Mu Ziyun's earlier request for shares was a calculated move for this takeover. She expressed her disappointment in Mu Ziyun's deceptive and treacherous actions, especially her indifference while Grandma was hospitalized, wondering when her aunt became so selfish and heartless. Mu Ziyun tried to refocus the conversation on the future and Gao Jie's career, promising to make Wu Xiaoci and Gao Hui pay for their past mistreatment of Gao Jie and her mother.
Gao Jie adamantly refused to return to Rui Hua, concerned about how she would be perceived given the circumstances, and declared she would never go back. Mu Ziyun pressed her, reminding her of her dream of being a designer, but Gao Jie remained resolute, stating she had calmly considered everything and could not assist Mu Ziyun. After Gao Jie departed, Mu Ziyun reviewed a recording of Gao Hai admitting to Wu Xiaoci's plagiarism.
She lamented that her original plan was to expose Wu Xiaoci using this recording if Gao Jie had agreed to join her. Now that Gao Jie had refused, Mu Ziyun decided she would have to leverage Gao Hui to fulfill her agreement with Chairwoman Ju. Yu Zhi watched helplessly as workers began removing the "Rui Hua" name from the company building, knowing he was powerless to stop it.
Gao Jie also witnessed the painful scene, her heart heavy with mixed emotions. Gao Hui, too, sent a resignation letter to Mu Ziyun, citing personal reasons. Mu Ziyun, upon receiving it, instructed her assistant to locate Gao Hui, then smiled contemptuously as she read the letter. Mu Ziyun tracked down Gao Hui. Gao Hui, assuming the resignation was the topic, warned Mu Ziyun about stubborn choices.
Mu Ziyun then played Gao Hai's recording, which contained his confession about Wu Xiaoci's plagiarism and his regret. Gao Hui was stunned and refused to believe her father's words, accusing Mu Ziyun of coercion. Mu Ziyun retorted that belief was irrelevant, but if the recording were released, both Wu Xiaoci and Gao Hui would face public disgrace, and Gao Hui's future would be destroyed. To secure her bet with Chairwoman Ju, Mu Ziyun needed Gao Hui to stay.
She then issued an ultimatum: Gao Hui was to return to work at Rui Hua the following morning and fulfill her design duties, or face dire consequences and lose everything. Returning home, Gao Hui confronted Gao Hai, demanding to know if Wu Xiaoci's award-winning design from years ago was plagiarized. Gao Hai reluctantly admitted the truth.
Enraged, Gao Hui lashed out at her father, accusing him of ruining her future by allowing this information to surface, and implicitly blaming Gao Jie. Realizing the severity of the situation, Gao Hai immediately sought out Mu Ziyun, pleading with her to show leniency towards Gao Hui, emphasizing that Gao Hui was young and innocent in his past grievances with Mu Ziyun. He offered to do anything if she would spare his daughter's future. However, Mu Ziyun was unyielding.
She argued that Gao Hui was Wu Xiaoci's daughter and thus bore some responsibility for her mother's actions, adding that a daughter should pay her mother's debts. Mu Ziyun also reminded Gao Hai of Gao Hui's cruel treatment of Gao Jie in the past, pointing out his hypocrisy in not defending Gao Jie then.
She declared her intent to punish those who did wrong, unlike her more forgiving cousin and Gao Jie, and concluded by stating that Gao Hui, as her employee, simply needed to focus on her job and improve performance. Gao Hai was left speechless by her firm refusal. The next morning, resigned to her fate, Gao Hui returned to work at Rui Hua.
Mu Ziyun made a point of observing her, while Gao Hui, boiling with resentment towards Mu Ziyun, channeled her anger towards Gao Jie, determined to make her suffer. Meanwhile, Gao Jie and Si Cheng, along with their team, successfully completed the "Wheel of Time" brooch.
Their celebration was cut short when a corporate attorney from Fancy arrived, declaring that the brooch was forbidden from participating in the New York Jewelry Exhibition and threatening legal action if anyone attempted to submit it. Gao Jie immediately confronted Gao Hui, demanding an explanation for forbidding the brooch from the exhibition, emphasizing the Custom Order Group's dedication.
Gao Hui responded with disdain, stating their efforts were irrelevant to her and that Yu Zhi was no longer there to protect Gao Jie. She mockingly asked if Gao Jie would now run to Mu Ziyun for help. At that moment, Mu Ziyun appeared, declaring her presence was to assist Gao Jie. Mu Ziyun then sternly chastised Gao Hui, questioning her authority to block the brooch and her respect for company management.
Gao Hui attempted to justify her decision by claiming she was protecting company resources, arguing against promoting outside designers using Fancy's means. Mu Ziyun, however, firmly asserted her role as Chairwoman, reminding Gao Hui that such decisions were hers alone. She sarcastically noted Gao Hui's apparent self-awareness that her own designs couldn't compete, accusing her of deliberately suppressing superior work.
Mu Ziyun further brought up Gao Hui's previous issues with product returns due to poor quality, warning her to focus on improving her design skills rather than engaging in pointless schemes, or her jewelry design career would likely come to an end. A stone-faced Gao Hui then departed. Gao Jie expressed her gratitude to Mu Ziyun. Mu Ziyun reassured her, stating that Gao Hui was easily managed and that Gao Jie was her top priority.
She viewed Gao Hui as a mere pawn, whom she intended to keep close, humiliate, and prevent from advancing, vowing to secure justice for Gao Jie and her mother. Gao Jie then confided in Mu Ziyun, acknowledging that while avenging Wu Xiaoci had once been her life's primary goal, the intense hatred had paradoxically caused her to lose touch with her own design abilities.
She shared that it was only through helping President Lei design the brooch that she rediscovered the invaluable joy of designing from the heart. With her mother, Pan Yue, now recovering, Gao Jie expressed her desire to live a good life, let go of hatred, and refocus on her passion for design. She therefore requested that Mu Ziyun cease suppressing Gao Hui on her behalf.
Furthermore, Gao Jie urged Mu Ziyun to stop inflicting harm upon Grandma Lin and Yu Zhi, reminding her that they had all once been a family. Mu Ziyun silently accepted Gao Jie's firm decision not to return to Rui Hua. At Grandma's bedside, Yu Zhi was visited by Yan Kai, who revealed his investigation into Gao Jie and Mu Ziyun.
Yan Kai stated that their actions didn't appear to be a coordinated plan and suggested that they might have misjudged Gao Jie. This caused Yu Zhi to fall into deep thought. He then glanced at the phone case Gao Jie had designed for him and rushed out. Gao Jie and Si Cheng received congratulations from President Lei for the successful exhibition of the "Wheel of Time." To celebrate, Si Cheng had prepared red wine.
He then seized the opportunity to confess his long-held feelings for Gao Jie. Si Cheng explained that he had fallen for her long ago but had suppressed his feelings due to her family issues. While he was initially saddened when she and Yu Zhi got together, he was happy for her presumed happiness. However, after Yu Zhi caused her such profound pain, Si Cheng now desired to offer her a stable home and a wonderful life.
Gao Jie gently declined, acknowledging Si Cheng as an excellent and deserving man but stating she was not the right person for him. She explained she was not in a emotional state to consider a romantic relationship. Si Cheng, undeterred, urged her to give them both a chance for a new, happy life. Just then, Yu Zhi, who had arrived and overheard their entire conversation, finally spoke Gao Jie's name.
Yu Zhi directly asked Gao Jie if she had truly conspired with Mu Ziyun to harm Rui Hua. Gao Jie, disheartened by his lingering distrust, replied that it didn't matter if she had or hadn't been involved with Mu Ziyun's actions. The familial bond between Mu Ziyun and herself was unchangeable, and this connection would forever remain a source of doubt and pain for Yu Zhi.
She concluded that, given this insurmountable obstacle, there was no need for them to continue interacting. Before Yu Zhi could say anything further, Gao Jie abruptly walked away. Later, Gao Jie observed a heartwarming scene of Gao Hai drawing alongside Pan Yue. She smiled, realizing that some matters require the original parties to resolve them. Gao Hai once again offered his apologies.
Gao Jie expressed that she had come to terms with things; although Gao Hai had made many mistakes, Pan Yue's memories of him remained indelible, a truth Gao Jie could not ignore. She advised Gao Hai to return to Wu Xiaoci and Gao Hui, assuring him that with Pan Yue's improving health, he no longer needed to carry the burden of guilt. Separately, Yu Guanghua approached Mu Ziyun, demanding money, asserting his right as they were still legally married. Mu Ziyun, however, informed him that she had already sought a lawyer to initiate divorce proceedings, adamantly refusing to be his personal ATM.
