The day after the chaotic banquet, Lu Xixiao's aunt hosted a family dinner, inviting both Zhou Wan and Guo Yan. During the meal, Guo Yan pushed Zhou Wan to call Xixiao her brother, prompting an awkward, quiet greeting from Zhou Wan. Visibly irritated, Xixiao tried to leave the table, but his aunt scolded him for being rude and made him sit back down.

Sensing the tension, the aunt questioned if the two already knew each other from school, but Xixiao quickly brushed it off, stating they were never close. The aunt went on to praise Zhou Wan's excellent academic record and wondered why she had missed the college entrance exam. Guo Yan quickly covered for her, explaining that a family emergency had prevented Zhou Wan from attending.

Zhou Wan added that she intended to retake the exam, mentioning that Guo Yan had promised to sponsor her until she graduated college. When Guo Yan stated she had already found a cram school in the northern suburbs so Zhou Wan could leave soon, the aunt proposed a different plan.

Since Xixiao was preparing to apply to the art academy, she suggested Zhou Wan move into their house so they could study together and Zhou Wan could serve as a role model. Though both Zhou Wan and Guo Yan tried to politely decline, Xixiao unexpectedly agreed to the arrangement, saying he had much to learn from her. Ms. Chen was then asked to prepare Xixiao's childhood room for Zhou Wan's stay. Meanwhile, Xixiao's father gave him a strict ultimatum.

Acknowledging that the art academy Xixiao's late mother attended was incredibly difficult to get into, his father granted him one year to prepare. However, he warned Xixiao that if he caused any trouble during this time, he would be forced to go abroad and study finance. Xixiao accepted the challenge.

Later, Xixiao's friend teased him about the prospect of living under the same roof as Zhou Wan, suggesting that despite his grumpy attitude, Xixiao was actually quite happy about the arrangement. Zhou Wan shared her anxieties with her close friend, explaining that staying at the Lu residence would at least keep her closer to the hospital where her grandmother was admitted.

When her friend questioned the complicated dynamic between her and Xixiao, Zhou Wan confessed that her sponsor, Guo Yan, was actually Xixiao's stepmother. Because Xixiao detested Guo Yan, Zhou Wan felt their friendship had been compromised from the very beginning. Soon after, Zhou Wan officially moved into the Lu household.

Guo Yan, who had packed Zhou Wan's bags, privately warned her to remember her place and not cause any trouble, noting that her own wedding to Xixiao's father had been postponed until Xixiao went abroad the following year. Ms. Chen showed Zhou Wan to her new room, apologizing that the space lacked a private bathroom. That night, Zhou Wan accidentally bumped into Xixiao in the hallway.

Xixiao questioned why she was using the public bathroom and criticized her for not greeting him after moving in, asking if she even wanted to see him. Zhou Wan quietly explained she had only wanted to avoid making him unhappy. Before they could speak further, Guo Yan interrupted, telling Zhou Wan to use her private bathroom instead.

After Xixiao sarcastically remarked that her "godmother" was calling her and walked away, Guo Yan privately addressed Zhou Wan as her daughter, expressing her own frustration over their living arrangement. During a visit to the hospital, Zhou Wan's grandmother expressed unease over the expensive gifts Guo Yan had suddenly sent, noting they had not been in contact for over a decade. Zhou Wan comforted her, encouraging her to accept the help.

Shortly after, Guo Yan met with Zhou Wan privately and handed her a check for 150,000 yuan. Explaining that a kidney transplant would cost 300,000 yuan, Guo Yan made the remaining half conditional: Zhou Wan had to convince Xixiao to give up his art pursuits and go abroad to study finance by the end of the summer so that Guo Yan could finally marry into the family.

Zhou Wan tried to refuse, arguing that Xixiao's dreams were his own, but Guo Yan ruthlessly reminded her of her grandmother's deteriorating health. Guo Yan also dismissed any threats of exposure, confident that Zhou Wan cared too much about Xixiao's feelings to ever tell him the truth. Soon after, Zhou Wan learned from Xixiao's friend that he had fallen ill. Having spent the last few days caring for her grandmother, she had not realized he was sick.

Back at the house, Ms. Chen worriedly told Zhou Wan that Xixiao had refused to eat or take his medicine, urging her to deliver the tray. Though hesitant, Zhou Wan brought some Three-Delicacy noodles and medicine to his room. Xixiao, who had caught a cold after returning to the mountain to look for her on the night of the banquet, was pleased by her arrival despite his grumpy demeanor. He demanded she stay with him while he took his medicine.

When a message flashed on Zhou Wan's phone, a moment of jealousy prompted Xixiao to grab her phone, teasingly threatening to pass his cold to her to make her stay longer. By the next morning, Xixiao's fever had subsided, and he left early to meet with Professor Qin, a renowned artist. When Ms. Chen realized he had left an important drawing from his portfolio on the table, Zhou Wan offered to deliver it to him.

Upon arriving, she accidentally overheard the professor's harsh critique. While acknowledging Xixiao's technical talent, Professor Qin declined to tutor him, pointing out that his work was merely a soulless copy of his mother's art. The professor urged Xixiao to put his own raw emotions, fears, and desires into his creations, granting him one final chance to present new work at the end of the month.

Determined to help Xixiao find his artistic voice, Zhou Wan sought advice from her grandmother about what it meant to be a truly kind person. Encouraged by her grandmother's words, she contacted Jiang Yan to help arrange a volunteer opportunity for Xixiao at the welfare house, hoping the children there would spark his inspiration. When Xixiao arrived, Jiang Yan welcomed him as his guide, apologizing for their past misunderstandings and urging Xixiao not to let Zhou Wan down.

Xixiao joined Zhou Wan and the children, participating in their games and even playfully competing with a young boy named Shengsheng. Afterward, the children gathered around for storytime. When it was Xixiao's turn, he used hand puppets to spin a tale about a uniquely colored little sheep and a lonely wolf who hid deep in the forest because he felt different. To the wolf's surprise, the little sheep was never afraid of him and loved playing with him.

Before she left, the wolf gifted her a cherished rose from his hidden garden, explaining that while everyone else only saw a dark, gloomy path, she was the only one who saw the beauty of his roses. While the children enjoyed the story, Zhou Wan spent time with a young girl named Xinyi, who showed her a drawing of an amusement park. Despite the heartwarming day, Xixiao still struggled to find the inspiration he needed to create his own art.

Exhausted, he decided to head home, leaving Zhou Wan slightly disheartened. Watching them, Jiang Yan questioned why Zhou Wan was going to such extreme lengths to help Xixiao. Zhou Wan quietly admitted that her options to help him were limited, and that this was simply something she owed him.
