Picking up from the hospital rooftop, Tuoli approaches He Lihua, who is in a state of mental distress. Mistaking him for the deceased Xia Fei, she is overjoyed when he presents her with a bouquet of Baby's Breath. She embraces him, believing Xia Fei has returned, which de-escalates the crisis. Afterward, a doctor informs Li Teng and Ruan Nianchu that He Lihua's episode was likely triggered by a sudden mental stimulation and assures them that ward security will be tightened.
Just as the doctor leaves, Tuoli appears and greets Ruan Nianchu, surprising both her and Li Teng with his presence. Later, Ruan Nianchu, Tuoli, and Li Teng share a meal. Tuoli, now nearly nineteen, confides in Ruan Nianchu that she was his first-ever friend. Li Teng, sensing the nature of Tuoli's admiration for Ruan Nianchu, repeatedly puts his arm around her, subtly asserting his role as her boyfriend.
On the way home, Ruan Nianchu remarks on Li Teng's unusually overt displays of affection. Li Teng explains that Tuoli has a crush on her, a revelation that startles Ruan Nianchu. Her mind flashes back to their time in Tai City, where a young Tuoli, after she helped him, declared his intention to marry her when he grew up. Ruan Nianchu had dismissed it as a childhood fantasy, but unbeknownst to her, Li Teng had overheard the conversation.
She insists it was just a joke, but Li Teng warns her to keep her distance from Tuoli. Ruan Nianchu finds Li Teng's jealousy childish but is secretly pleased by how much he cares. At the company, Jiang Hao learns that Tuoli was the nursing assistant who saved Mrs. Xia and remarks on Li Teng's complicated romantic life. Li Teng, in turn, congratulates Jiang Hao on his new relationship with Qiao Yufei, advising him to cherish it.
Jiang Hao admits he doesn't know how to tell Qiao Yufei about Xingxing. Li Teng counsels him that a genuine relationship requires complete honesty, which prompts Jiang Hao to joke that Ruan Nianchu must have taught him that. Tuoli visits Ruan Nianchu at the theatre, where she gently reminds him to call her "sister." He asks for her help in adopting a stray cat he rescued, as his nursing assistant apartment doesn't allow pets. Ruan Nianchu happily agrees.
Tuoli then expresses his feeling that he, along with others, was merely a chess piece in Li Teng's past operations and that Li Teng may not consider him important. Their conversation is cut short when Li Teng arrives. Upon seeing the cat from Tuoli, Li Teng becomes upset, telling Ruan Nianchu he cannot accept this specific cat. Ruan Nianchu is left confused by his strong reaction and the apparent friction between him and Tuoli.
Meanwhile, Jiang Hao and Qiao Yufei take Xingxing on an outing, where Jiang Hao's attempt to explain Xingxing's parentage is interrupted by the girl herself. Later, despite his initial disapproval, Li Teng helps Ruan Nianchu set up a space for the cat. When Ruan Nianchu playfully names it "Jealous Li," Li Teng pins her down, telling her she is naive.
He reveals that Tuoli does not see her as a sister and that he discovered Tuoli’s true feelings years ago in Tai City. A surprised Ruan Nianchu suggests talking to Tuoli, but Li Teng insists that he will be the one to handle it. After putting Xingxing to bed, Jiang Hao finally confesses to Qiao Yufei. He explains that Xingxing is not his biological daughter but his master's child.
To legally adopt and care for her after her mother, Mrs. Xia, developed mental health issues, he entered into a paper marriage with Mrs. Xia, an arrangement that must last until Xingxing is an adult. To his relief, Qiao Yufei accepts this without hesitation, stating that a marriage certificate is just paper and all she wants is to be with him. Moved, Jiang Hao declares his love, and they share a passionate kiss.
