My Dear Brothers Episode 26 Recap
> My Dear Brothers Recap
Bi Hong realized he shared the Devil Sect bloodline with Hou Chi, and that the spiritual root Hou Chi possessed was originally his. He also recalled the ridicule he endured for lacking a spiritual root, fueling his desire to reclaim what he believed was rightfully his.
Blaming Hou Chi for all his past misfortunes, for being controlled by demons, and for his irreversible mistakes, Bi Hong resolved to kill him to reclaim his spiritual root, believing this would restore everything to how it once was. As he raised a dagger over the unconscious Hou Chi, he heard Hou Chi murmur Shi Xia's name, which brought him back to his senses. Bi Hong, softening, dropped the dagger and left.
He decided that since Hou Chi might not be able to stay with Shi Xia until the end, he would protect Shi Xia in Hou Chi's stead, letting Hou Chi continue his mission with the spiritual root. Meanwhile, in the Devil Cave, someone expressed concern about Qiu Li, who was consuming her spiritual power to break the ward without eating or drinking.
Shi Dong, worried about Qiu Li, rushed towards the ward, telling Qiu Li to stop trying to force her way out. Despite Shi Dong's pleas, Qiu Li declared that she would get out even if it cost her life. Shi Dong then commanded Er Ha to open the ward, overriding Er Ha's objections. Once inside, Qiu Li immediately used magic to control Shi Dong, demanding he open the ward.
Shi Dong, while controlled by her magic, asserted that Qiu Li wouldn't bear to kill him, which immediately softened her, and she let go. He told Er Ha to stand down, stating his intention to remain in the cave with Qiu Li. Shi Dong then tried to warm her, but Qiu Li stubbornly claimed she wasn't a weakling like Bai Li and wouldn't be affected by his gestures.
Shi Dong began to feel the pangs of hunger, but he declared he would starve himself if Qiu Li continued her attempts to escape the Devil Cave. Qiu Li, in her dark demeanor, told him to go ahead and starve, asserting she would not eat either. She assumed Shi Dong, having never experienced hunger, would quickly give up.
However, Shi Dong revealed that his parents had passed away early, and he had been bullied and frequently locked up without food or water as a child, leaving him no stranger to starvation. He expressed his understanding of Qiu Li's desire for strength, recognizing that one must become powerful to protect oneself, one's sister, and all those around them. Bi Hong presented Yuan Zhao with the Love-forgetting Potion he had developed.
He explained that if Hou Chi drank it, he would forget all memories of Shi Xia, severing all emotional ties and thereby dissipating the Evil Aura. Yuan Zhao inquired about the potion's effectiveness, to which Bi Hong replied that its true power would only be known after Hou Chi consumed it.
Bi Hong then proposed that once Hou Chi forgot Shi Xia, he would take Shi Xia away from the Yuhua Sect to live a simple, mortal life, never again meddling in cultivation affairs. Yuan Zhao, pleased that Bi Hong had finally come around to his long-held desire, questioned whether Shi Xia would truly agree to forget Hou Chi.
Bi Hong, confident in his understanding of Shi Xia, assured his father that no matter how deeply Shi Xia loved Hou Chi, she would never wish him to risk his life for her sake. Convinced, Yuan Zhao granted his permission for Bi Hong and Shi Xia to leave the Yuhua Sect, provided Hou Chi successfully drank the potion. Meanwhile, Shi Xia grew anxious as Hou Chi had not returned after saying he was going to see Yuan Zhao.
She worried something might have happened to him. Bi Hong found her and invited her inside, where she discovered Hou Chi lying unconscious. Distraught, Shi Xia pleaded with Bi Hong to tell her what was wrong. Bi Hong then explained that Hou Chi's Evil Aura had worsened because of her, transforming into a Love Calamity. If Hou Chi continued to harbor feelings for her, his life would be in peril.
Shi Xia was devastated to learn she was the cause of his suffering. Bi Hong then revealed that the only way to save Hou Chi was for him to never love again, suggesting he drink the Love-forgetting Potion to forget everything about her. Shi Xia initially dismissed this as a melodramatic plot device that wouldn't happen to her, but Bi Hong confirmed it was the only solution.
After serious consideration, Shi Xia tearfully agreed to let Hou Chi drink the potion but requested one more day to properly bid him farewell before he lost his memories of her. She promised that after this final day, she would personally administer the potion and disappear from his life forever. Bi Hong agreed to negotiate this extra time with Yuan Zhao.
Shi Xia then sat by the unconscious Hou Chi, holding his hand, reflecting on how he had always protected her. She vowed that this time, she would be the one to protect him, even if it meant sacrificing their love. The next day, Hou Chi awoke to find Yuan Zhao by his bedside. His first question was about Shi Xia's whereabouts. Yuan Zhao reassured him that Shi Xia was safe in his courtyard and urged him to rest.
Yuan Zhao apologized for the harsh words he had spoken in a moment of panic when Hou Chi's Evil Aura worsened. He promised that if Hou Chi ceased to discuss relinquishing his position as Alliance Head, he would no longer trouble either Hou Chi or Shi Xia. Hou Chi thanked his master. However, Yuan Zhao sternly reminded him that his Love Calamity had begun, urging him to restrain his emotions and to attend the upcoming Succession Ceremony safely.
Hou Chi agreed to his master's counsel. Anxiously waiting, Shi Xia fretted about Hou Chi's prolonged absence, but then saw him appear. She rushed to embrace him, tears streaming down her face as she buried her face in his chest. Hou Chi apologized for his delay, and Shi Xia promised to cherish every minute and second they had together from that moment on.
Shi Xia opened her notebook, titled "Ten things I'm going to do with my future boyfriend," to see what was left on their list. They had already accomplished almost every item, including eating his cooking, bungee jumping, bedtime stories, receiving gifts, and kissing in romantic places. The only remaining item was "In some romantic moment, let my boyfriend put a ring on me." Hou Chi was unfamiliar with what a "ring" was.
Shi Xia explained that in her hometown, it was a token of love a man gave to a woman to symbolize a lifelong commitment. She showed him a drawing of one, which Hou Chi remarked looked like an instrument. Shi Xia conceded that rings in his cultivation world were indeed magical instruments, but then retrieved a contract they had. She declared that their unique contract was a more precious and enduring token than any ring or treasure in the world.
As she looked around, Shi Xia silently reflected that everything they had created together would soon be lost to her, and she would not be able to stay with Hou Chi forever. She resolved to do her best to fulfill his every wish during their remaining time.
