Bo Yan was discarding a sachet on his bed when Li Fu suddenly appeared, binding him with a Deity Binding Rope. Li Fu explained that the rope was meant for deities and would tighten the more Bo Yan struggled. Bo Yan, having no memory of his divine origins, scoffed at the idea. To convince him, Li Fu performed an invisibility spell, but their celestial exchange was inadvertently witnessed by Reddou, who was startled by the sight.

Li Fu quickly took Bo Yan away, restoring his divine powers. Meanwhile, Shangguan Ya woke up in a daze, finding herself face to face with a smirking Scholar Wan. He eagerly presented a board detailing his "The Theory of Singleton," hoping to indoctrinate her. However, Shangguan Ya's sharp retorts were so compelling that even Scholar Wan's servants found themselves agreeing with her logic.

Furious, Scholar Wan tied up Shangguan Ya and placed her on a small boat with no paddles, leaving her to drift away. As Shangguan Ya cried out for help, a glowing necklace around her neck went unnoticed. It was then that Bo Yan, having just regained his powers, heard her desperate calls and swiftly appeared. After dealing with Scholar Wan and his associates, Bo Yan used his divine abilities to fly into the boat and rescue Shangguan Ya.

Mindful of Li Fu's warning against overtly displaying his powers in the human world, Bo Yan remained on the boat with Shangguan Ya as it continued to drift. Shangguan Ya, who had originally planned to release a river lantern for her mother, felt even more disheartened, blaming herself for not fulfilling her mother's expectations.

Bo Yan took a lantern from the boat's canopy, converting it into a makeshift river lantern, allowing Shangguan Ya to express her longing for her mother amidst the glowing night scene. She confided in Bo Yan about her mother's legacy as a renowned matchmaker and her own struggles to live up to it, feeling useless and a failure. Bo Yan, in turn, comforted her, assuring her she was doing well.

They made a pinky promise that the Love Matching Hall would be his home until he found his own family. On shore, an anxious Ouyang Jing, searching for the missing Shangguan Ya, spotted Li Fu strolling casually. Already suspicious, she grabbed him, accusing him of being involved in the disappearance. As a deity, Li Fu naturally possessed means to locate Bo Yan and Shangguan Ya.

He easily broke free from the constables, asserting that they would need his help to find the missing duo. While Li Fu subtly employed his divine powers to track them, Ouyang Jing, relying on her investigative experience, dragged him to the House of Bliss for a search. Finding nothing there, she then encountered Xu Yunchuan, who was also searching for Shangguan Ya. After a calm analysis, Xu Yunchuan quickly located Scholar Wan and demanded to inspect his account books.

Under interrogation, Scholar Wan confessed Shangguan Ya's whereabouts. As Ouyang Jing frantically rushed to the dock, she cautioned Li Fu, who was posing as Chu Ye's brother, not to mention Chu Ye in front of Xu Yunchuan, citing a secret between Chu Ye and Shangguan Ya.

On the boat, Shangguan Ya and Bo Yan watched as their vessel drifted further with the current, while the crowd on shore, including Ouyang Jing and Xu Yunchuan, bickered, unable to devise a rescue plan. Remembering Li Fu's instruction not to flaunt his powers, Bo Yan requested floating objects from the shore. Ouyang Jing, using her martial arts skills, kicked several wooden logs into the water.

Bo Yan then carried Shangguan Ya, gracefully stepping on the floating wood, and flew them to the shore. Xu Yunchuan informed Shangguan Ya that Scholar Wan had been arrested. He found Shangguan Ya's seemingly affectionate embrace of Bo Yan quite odd. Master Shangguan, worried about his daughter, was distraught to learn she had spent a night alone with Bo Yan, fearing for her reputation.

In truth, the deeply asleep Shangguan Ya had not only rested her head on Bo Yan's shoulder but also slipped her hand into his clothing, leaving him both exasperated and amused. Later, the famished Shangguan Ya emerged with a chicken leg, devouring it with an unladylike gusto that was comically shocking.

Master Shangguan confronted Bo Yan, telling him to keep quiet about the night and reminded him that he was not the "real" Chu Ye, implying they would both eventually marry others. Li Fu then explained Bo Yan's past: he was formerly God Yan'guang, banished by the Emperor of Heaven to the mortal realm to mend the chaotic love lines in Yueyang City, after which he would take over as the God of Marriage.

Li Fu clarified that deities lose their memories and powers upon banishment, though Bo Yan had been experiencing flashbacks. Li Fu had concocted a cover story for Bo Yan: a wealthy young master from Langzhou whose family had fallen on hard times, separated from his servant (Li Fu) while seeking relatives.

Master Shangguan initially wished for Bo Yan to leave, but due to the insistence of Shangguan Ya and her grandmother, Bo Yan agreed to stay, continuing to use the name Chu Ye. Li Fu further revealed that his own descent to the mortal realm was primarily to find Tong'er, the Emperor of Heaven's youngest daughter, who had come down specifically for Bo Yan.

Realizing Li Fu was using him as bait, Bo Yan sternly warned him not to cause any more trouble for the Love Matching Hall, demonstrating his growing protective instincts for Shangguan Ya's family. Later, Bo Yan was looking through Shangguan Ya's meticulously kept matchmaking notes, deeply impressed by her dedication. Shangguan Ya, however, seemed unaware of his appreciation, telling him not to intentionally get close to her.

She then playfully teased him, calling him a "dummy" and asserting he could never be a matchmaker. Slightly provoked, Bo Yan stepped forward to retort, but Shangguan Ya suddenly turned, accidentally kissing him on the cheek.
