Ning Weijin meticulously selected a casual outfit and waited eagerly at the entrance of the design exhibition. Meanwhile, Dingding, at home, debated whether to dress up elaborately, recalling Ning Weijin's past comment about preferring her most natural self. Before she could decide, Cat arrived at her apartment, bringing a heavily intoxicated Chen Xun. Cat explained that since their breakup, Chen Xun had been unable to sleep without drinking and had been immersing himself in work at the company.
Cat pleaded with Dingding to give Chen Xun another chance, or at least let him stay the night. Dingding, having moved past their relationship, reluctantly agreed to let him stay for just one night, assuring Cat that he would be picked up the next day, which allowed Cat to leave to attend to clients. Chen Xun soon passed out on Dingding’s sofa. Dingding found herself instinctively tending to him, a habit from their past.
Just then, Ning Weijin sent her a message asking about her whereabouts, but quickly retracted it, seemingly realizing it was too pushy. After a moment's hesitation, Dingding left Chen Xun alone and rushed to meet Ning Weijin. When she arrived, the exhibition was already concluding, and she apologized profusely for her tardiness, explaining that something unexpected had kept her.
Ning Weijin, however, expressed only relief, stating he had considered many possibilities for her absence and was simply happy to see her safe. As he offered to take her home, Dingding explained that Chen Xun was at her place, too drunk to leave, and that it would be inappropriate for them to stay in the same apartment. She suggested finding a hotel for the night. Ning Weijin then invited her to his home, mentioning he needed her help with something.
Upon arriving at Ning Weijin's apartment, Ning Weixuan, who had been crying since Gao Ren's rejection, immediately protested, suggesting that if Ning Weijin and Dingding were on a date, they should leave her alone as she was too sad to see them together. Ning Weijin went to make coffee, leaving Dingding to explain to Ning Weixuan that she was only staying because Chen Xun was at her place and Ning Weijin had offered refuge.
Ning Weixuan, however, was upset that Chen Xun had gone to Dingding's home despite their breakup. Dingding attempted to console Ning Weixuan, revealing that she knew about Gao Ren's rejection because he had called Ning Weijin to express his concern. Dingding advised Ning Weixuan that sometimes a firm rejection is better for the person being rejected. This only angered Ning Weixuan, who questioned why Dingding had never "firmly" rejected Ning Weijin, implying Dingding was siding with Gao Ren.
Overwhelmed, Ning Weixuan locked herself in her room. Dingding, feeling she had made things worse, apologized. Ning Weijin, however, assured her it was fine, explaining that some emotional challenges must be faced alone and that Ning Weixuan needed time to process things calmly. He then proposed they make Yangzhou fried rice, inviting Dingding to help him. While cooking, Dingding humorously observed that Ning Weijin was "hard to get along with," playfully suggesting he might be a Virgo.
She then inquired about his friends, specifically Gao Ren and Shu Yiran, and how he felt about his friend rejecting his sister. Ning Weijin smiled, noting that her interest in his friends indicated she was becoming interested in him too. He admitted it was troubling to watch Ning Weixuan pursue a relationship with no future, revealing that Gao Ren already had someone he liked. Dingding, caught off guard, blushed.
Later, Ning Weijin prepared his bed for Dingding, having changed the sheets and covers, as Ning Weixuan still refused to open her door. He also lent Dingding a pair of his pajamas, making her feel embarrassed. Despite his reassurances that he was fine sleeping on the sofa, even having slept on hospital floors during shifts, Dingding spent a restless night, noticing the pleasant scent of his laundry detergent mixed with a hint of perfume.
The next morning, Ning Weixuan emerged from her room to find Ning Weijin and Dingding gone, but they had left her a thoughtful breakfast and a note. Ning Weijin's message encouraged her to stay hydrated and eat fruit to have a clear mind for making sound decisions, while Dingding's note cheerfully reminded her she had to eat well to have the strength to keep on loving. Ning Weixuan, despite her initial grumbling, found the gesture heartwarming.
Meanwhile, Chen Xun woke up alone in Dingding’s apartment, confused. As he was about to leave, he saw Ning Weijin dropping Dingding off. Chen Xun questioned Dingding about why she had not stayed at home. Ning Weijin interjected, stating that since Chen Xun had occupied Dingding's home, she had stayed at his place. Chen Xun, realizing he had caused trouble, apologized profusely, claiming he didn't intend to bother her. Ning Weijin then promptly offered to drive Chen Xun home.
During the drive, Chen Xun challenged Ning Weijin’s intentions, arguing that Ning Weijin hadn't known Dingding long enough. Ning Weijin retorted that despite Chen Xun knowing Dingding for six years and dating her for one, their breakup indicated he had deeply hurt her. He then revealed that his connection with Dingding stretched back further than Chen Xun imagined, but refused to elaborate.
Chen Xun, in turn, warned Ning Weijin that he would be watching him, to which Ning Weijin coolly replied he didn't care, as long as Chen Xun didn't bother Dingding. At Good Time coffee shop, Yunsheng had created a video account featuring the shop's cats, hoping to attract customers and turn it into a popular spot. Dingding enthusiastically agreed it was a brilliant idea and joined Yunsheng and Lei in filming a short video of herself dancing with a cat.
Later, a stunningly beautiful woman with a provocative demeanor arrived at Ning Weijin's clinic for a consultation. She flirtatiously described chest pain that intensified after meeting him, attempting to seduce him with suggestive comments. Ning Weijin, unfazed, redirected her to the cardiology department for her reported arrhythmia and maintained a professional distance. When she insisted he personally examine her breasts, he delegated the task to his assistant, explaining he had an urgent patient to attend to.
Unwilling to give up, the woman followed Ning Weijin to the front desk, grabbing his arm and refusing to let go, even after he warned her he would call security. Just as Ning Weijin was about to call for help, Gao Ren arrived and intervened. He playfully offered himself as a more amenable alternative, describing Ning Weijin as dull and unappreciative of her charms while he himself "couldn't resist temptation."
The woman, frustrated, eventually left, but not before suggesting she would return. Dingding, who had been heading to Ning Weijin's office to deliver a thank-you cake, overheard nurses in the elevator gossiping about a beautiful woman "capturing" Ning Weijin. When she arrived on his floor and saw the woman clinging to his arm, she felt a pang of jealousy and abruptly left the hospital. The seductive woman, meanwhile, called her employer, complaining about Ning Weijin's unresponsiveness and demanding her payment.
Later, Ning Weijin met Gao Ren for lunch in the hospital canteen. Gao Ren, whose eyes were swollen from lack of sleep, admitted Ning Weixuan had cried herself to sleep and that he was in a difficult position, unable to be too harsh or too soft with her. Ning Weijin then directly asked if Gao Ren's refusal of Ning Weixuan was due to his feelings for Shu Yiran. Gao Ren was surprised that Ning Weijin had discovered his secret.
Ning Weijin clarified he had always sensed it but hadn't been certain. Gao Ren, desperate for Ning Weijin to keep his feelings confidential from Shu Yiran, promised to help Ning Weixuan completely give up on him. Ning Weijin, however, predicted that Ning Weixuan was already plotting her next move. He urged Gao Ren to remain steadfast and never develop feelings for Ning Weixuan, regardless of her tactics.
He explained he didn't want Gao Ren to use his sister as a rebound if his pursuit of Shu Yiran failed, calling it the greatest harm he could inflict. Gao Ren agreed, though he remained curious about the "unbridgeable chasm" between Ning Weijin and Shu Yiran, which Ning Weijin dismissed.
Back at Dingding’s studio, Ning Weixuan shared her new "retreat to advance" strategy for Gao Ren, asserting that she would no longer force him to be her boyfriend but would expect him to be present whenever she needed him, just like a brother. Dingding showed Ning Weixuan the cat videos she was making for Good Time coffee shop and her plans to redesign her online shop.
Ning Weixuan then suggested she should serialize her "Little Scarf" comic, believing it could boost her studio. Dingding was hesitant, fearing Ning Weijin's reaction if he knew the character was based on him. Ning Weixuan reassured her, stating that her brother would be delighted, as he had only ever fallen for one girl in his life. Dingding then cautiously inquired about Ning Weijin's popularity with female patients.
Ning Weixuan scoffed, calling him "dangerously handsome" but confirmed his unwavering loyalty to his one true love, which made Dingding blush. Later, Ning Weixuan met Gao Ren again, initiating her new strategy. She declared she would no longer pressure him to be her boyfriend but expected him to act as a "brother," appearing whenever she needed him. Gao Ren saw this as a significant concession, agreeing to her terms as long as he wasn't forced into a romantic relationship.
Ning Weixuan then immediately asked him to drive her to Leijie, a twenty-kilometer journey, to help her pick out coffee cups. Gao Ren grumbled about the distance but eventually conceded. At the store, another woman flirted with Gao Ren, causing Ning Weixuan to get visibly annoyed. She playfully called Gao Ren a "stud" before angrily announcing she no longer wanted to buy the cups. Gao Ren was left exasperated by her sudden mood swing.
