Isolight led Xiao Yiqing into Moon Palace. A subordinate then informed Isolight that Jia Ruo had returned and summoned Xue Wen, Bing Ling, and Isolight to the Grand Hall. Isolight realized he might not be able to help Xiao Yiqing rescue Xue Wen that night and advised Xiao Yiqing to leave Moon Palace quickly. However, Xiao Yiqing was resolute, stating he must see his mother, even if only from afar.

In the Grand Hall, Jia Ruo presented a floating water lantern, explaining that such lanterns, found downstream at the River of Remembrance on the eve of the Ghost Festival, were a taboo and signified an outsider had infiltrated Lingjiu Mountain. He deduced that the intruder was likely Xiao Yiqing, driven by his deep affection for his mother, and threatened to sacrifice Xue Wen during the ceremony if any chaos ensued.

Xue Wen, understanding that her survival made her a weakness used against her son, declared that her life meant nothing if it allowed Yi Qing to pursue justice freely. She then attempted to commit suicide by crashing into a pillar. Xiao Yiqing, unable to bear witnessing this, revealed himself and attacked Jia Ruo with his Xi Ying Blade. Knowing he could not prolong the fight, Xiao Yiqing retreated and hid.

Jia Ruo was then informed that Shu Jingrong had defeated the Storm League outside Lingjiu Mountain and that Qiu Hu Yu and his men were missing, prompting him to leave to provide support and allowing Xiao Yiqing to evade capture. Isolight later internally acknowledged his role in removing the guards, which had facilitated Xiao Yiqing's infiltration and ongoing evasion. Isolight reported that Xue Wen had only fainted and was unharmed.

Suspecting an internal spy, Jia Ruo ordered Xue Wen and Bing Ling to be strictly guarded and announced his intention to interrogate all Moon Sect disciples one by one. While evading detection, Xiao Yiqing stumbled upon a hidden room containing a set of healing needles and a mysterious map with Moon Sect markings. He found it peculiar that the needles were so well concealed and wondered about Ming He's true intentions.

Meanwhile, Shu Jingrong and Gao Huan had largely routed the Storm League forces. Shu Jingrong confronted Qiu Hu Yu about the massacre of the Shi family, to which he coldly responded that any remaining kindness would have meant his death years ago. Suddenly, Ren Feiyang appeared, holding Ye Fengsha captive. He threatened to kill Ye Fengsha if Gao Huan did not commit suicide with his Tear-stained Sword, fulfilling a prophecy.

Gao Huan, torn, prepared to end his own life, but Shu Jingrong quickly intervened. Observing Gao Huan's genuine devotion to Ye Fengsha, Ren Feiyang released her, expressing his distaste for pure hatred. He then requested that Shu Jingrong spare Qiu Hu Yu's life in return, which Shu Jingrong agreed to, allowing Ren Feiyang and Qiu Hu Yu to leave.

As morning broke and Xiao Yiqing had not returned, Shu Jingrong informed Gao Huan of her plan to infiltrate Moon Palace alone and instructed him to retreat with the remaining Snow Tower disciples if she didn't return by evening. Gao Huan soon found Xiao Yiqing, who had just returned.

Upon learning that Shu Jingrong had gone to Lingjiu Mountain by herself, Xiao Yiqing immediately went after her, ordering Gao Huan to lead all Snow Tower disciples to retreat from Lingjiu Mountain territory at once. Simultaneously, Ming He, who considered Xiao Yiqing's solo infiltration an act of disrespect, had been deploying her forces. Isolight then reported Shu Jingrong's presence on the mountain to Jia Ruo, prompting Jia Ruo to confront her.

Ming He was furious at Isolight for informing Jia Ruo, accusing him of revealing her "taboo" to Jia Ruo. Isolight defended his actions, citing Shu Jingrong's combat skill and his concern for Ming He's safety, while also reassuring her that Jia Ruo might not remember Shu Jingrong. Ming He, still enraged, wanted to rush to Jia Ruo's side, but Isolight urged her to prioritize her own safety and continue leading Moon Sect's defense. Shu Jingrong finally encountered Jia Ruo.

Overwhelmed with emotion, she tearfully recognized him as her long-lost Senior Brother, Qing Lan, asking why he didn't remember her and introducing herself as Ming Er. Jia Ruo, though confused and unable to recall her, was deeply moved by her distress. Just then, Ming He arrived with Moon Sect disciples, intent on capturing Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong. She attempted to attack Shu Jingrong, but Jia Ruo shielded her.

Xiao Yiqing arrived shortly after and directly informed Shu Jingrong that Jia Ruo was indeed Qing Lan. Shu Jingrong was stunned and angered that Xiao Yiqing had kept this truth from her for so long. Despite Ming He's protests and threats, Jia Ruo surprisingly commanded his disciples to let Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong leave. Ming He, unwilling to defy Jia Ruo, reluctantly complied. Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong regrouped with Gao Huan and Ye Fengsha.

Gao Huan requested permission to leave Snow Tower and embark on a life of wandering with Ye Fengsha. Xiao Yiqing readily agreed, cautioning them to quickly depart Moon Sect territory and remain vigilant against Ming He's potential wrath. Shu Jingrong advised Gao Huan to maintain honesty and sincerity with Ye Fengsha, warning against future quarrels. Xiao Yiqing attempted to explain why he had concealed Jia Ruo's true identity, but Shu Jingrong, still upset, walked away without listening.

Meanwhile, Ming He continued to manipulate Jia Ruo, reiterating that he was only Jia Ruo and that any thoughts of Qing Lan or a past connection to Shu Jingrong were irrelevant. Though Jia Ruo was plagued by doubts, his emotions conflicted with Ming He's assertions, he agreed to set aside the troubling thoughts for the time being. Later, Gao Huan and Ye Fengsha, despite the dangers, went to a bustling market.

Ye Fengsha, captivated by a beautiful fabric perfect for a wedding dress, prompted Gao Huan to purchase it for her. Their presence was noticed by Moon Sect's Clearwing, who reported it to Ming He. Enraged, Ming He personally led a group of assassins to ambush them, declaring her intent to kill Gao Huan for disrespecting Moon Sect and to send a message to Xiao Yiqing. During the ensuing fight, Gao Huan was gravely wounded, and Ye Fengsha was injured. Gao Huan urged Ye Fengsha to flee to safety, but she adamantly refused to abandon him, reaffirming their promise to journey the world together.
